Girlie Time at Elina Zulka with BFF Wendy and DJ Elly

My friend Wendy is getting married. And I’m getting really excited, as for the first time ever, I’ve been given the honour of being someone’s bridesmaid. :( It’s really an emotional thing for me. Never before someone has given me such an honour and high level of trust. I get to be involved in her wedding preparation, giving opinions etc. :)

Anyway…it’s been awhile since us girls get to have some girlie time, so one fine day, the folks at eWana invited me for a spa review in Starparc, Setapak, Kuala Lumpur and I decided to say yes and drag the future bride along. Who would say no to an R&R with your bestie? I certainly wouldn’t, what more we will be spending time with a celebrity deejay too.

The reception counter of Elina Zulka Beauty Centre. Not just any beauty centre, but a one stop bridal house too. They have plenty of beauty packages for brides to be and also by request treatments for couples.

This littpe heaven is located in Starparc Point, Setapak. A very quiet and secluded place in the middle of a bustling city. Great for pampering session, I reckon.

DJ Elly Raja Lawak of eWana FM :) Very pretty in person.

Elina Zulka have everything a tired soul needs. Here’s their sauna room.

That’s me, getting ready for hair treatment.

Enjoying myself. Ahhh…the head massage by Ms. Maryam is so relaxing.

Much better after treatment.

I highly recommended this place if you wanna have some girlie time or if you are preparing for your wedding. The packages that they provide are pretty competitive and reasonable, ranging from Rm1,500 above for all inclusive stuff for weddings and engagements ceremony.

Walk in is accepted, but I would recommend an appointment before going there for whatever purpose to avoid disappointment.

Learning Fun with Magnolia Gotcha Safari

I feel pregnant these days. Feel very pregnant. Why do I say that? Well, I have constant cravings for ice creams and sweet stuff. I’m not one with sweet tooth, mind you. I’m more partial to savory food and I only craved for sweet stuff, especially ice cream and pastries when I was pregnant. :P Luckily for my husband though, my taste is not that expensive. I don’t hunt for expensive or premium brands. Any kind of ice cream will keep me sweet. One particular brand that’s currently my favourite is the Gotcha Magnolia series, easily obtainable in those 24 hours KK Mart. I’m currently in love with their Cravio series, Strawberry flavours. Get me that and feed me, I’ll stay sweet for the rest of the day. :D Yea, it’s pretty easy to keep me happy. Just feed me, and I’ll be nice to you. :P

Anyway my ice cream madness is still ongoing and I spotted these lovelies from Magnolia.

image

Their new addition to the Gotcha series, the Magnolia Safari. Very educational and great for kids (and to keep kid’s mum like me sweet).

Cute packaging, don’t you agree? I like this very much! And my boy is in love with it too. The Zebra head is detachable and you can actually use it as a bookmark.

image

Magnolia Gotcha Safari makes learning fun by offering animal fun facts with every ice cream stick. Magnolia Gotcha Safari experience that teaches you about animals while you enjoy your ice cream. The first step to the Safari experience is to read facts about the animal on the wrapper, followed by the unwrapping of the ice cream and learning about stripe patterns while savouring the unique blend of ice cream.

image

The Magnolia Gotcha Safari is now offering 3 animalistic flavours. Tiger, Zebra and Leopard. The Tiger variant has an interesting blend of Chocolate and Vanilla that forms the Tiger’s black and orange stripe fur patterns while the Zebra variant comes with a blend of Cola and Lemon-Lime flavours that forms the Zebra’s black and white stripe fur patterns while the Leopard variant has a blend of Orange and Grape flavours which forms the Leopard spots. So… what’s my favourite? Surprisingly, it was the leopard flavour that tickles me fancy. Love the orangey sensation to bits and these are definitely going be permanent resident in the fridge for quite some time. :D

:D There’s plenty of surprises in store for those who consume the Magnolia Gotcha Safari ice creams. There will be a contest that’s offering prizes like iPad Air, iPod Shuffle and bicycle. Contests will be announced somewhere in April and ends in June 2014. throughout the period, keep a lookout for educational Magnolia Gotcha Safari roadshow nationwide. Visitors can look forward to freebies, balloons and also photo opportunity with the Gotcha Safari Mascot.  Kuntum Magazine in collaboration with F&N Magnolia will also be visiting 15 schools around Peninsular Malaysia to educate young children about the amazing world of animals. :D

The Magnolia Safari is easily available at all leading hypermarkets, supermarket and even your friendly neighborhood grocery stores. A box of these costs Rm5.80 per pack of 6 (2 tigers, 2 zebras and 2 leopards). It is also sold individually at Rm1.50 per stick. Go get em now. :D I’m restocking mine as of writing.

Cleffairy: Keep me sweet and I’ll keep you sweet in return. :D

Breakfast Love with F&N Seasons NutriSoy

Do you take breakfast? I know breakfast is the most important meal of the day as it provides energy for your body for the rest of the day but God…I’m practically a vampire. To say that I’m not a morning person is an understatement. I’m the crankiest and the hardest to deal with in the morning. Not even a cuppa tea or coffee could remedy my nasty mood. Sad, isn’t it? Sometimes I pity my hubby and kid. I spent most of the days sleeping in instead of being all sunshine in the morning. :(

I’ll be honest with you. I don’t prepare breakfast for my hubby and son. Yups…I know. Awful of me…my morning routine merely consists of kissing my husband before sending him off to work, and back to bed til at least 11am for me. It is never an issue until I discovered that kiddo will start having tuition classes in the morning soon.

Oh my! That calls for a drastic change of routine. I can’t possibly send the boy to classes with an empty tummy.

Luck is on my side. Not long ago I was informed that there’s this Breakfast Love demo with F&N Seasons NutriSoy. I was told that they’ll be teaching us busy (and lazy mum in my case) to cook easy least quickie but nutritious breakfast for your loved ones. Breakfast is a daily and the most important meal of the day. Through “Breakfast Love” campaign, F&N Seasons NutriSoy wants Malaysian mums to show their love for their family by providing nutritious and healthy breakfast that pairs food with F&N Seasons NutriSoy beverage to give her and her family all the goodness of soy to start the day right.

 photo FampNSeasonsNutriSoy-BreakfastLove_zps3698753a.jpg

It was held on an early Sunday morning in The Cooking House, Desa Sri Hartamas. I wasn’t so thrilled in the beginning as I had to drag myself out of the bed so early on a weekend, no less, but I thought it should be worth the sacrifice. And it was.

 photo FampNSeasonsNutriSoyCompleteRangeofproductsavailablein1litre300mlcanand250ml_zpsf8a751d5.jpg

The products that we used to cook (and pair) our breakfast with that day was of course, F&N Seasons NutriSoy Soya Milk drink. Two range is available for your drinking pleasure; the regular and less sugar version of it. The picture above depicts the full range of F&N NutriSoy drink. Both regular and less sugar version of F&N Seasons NutriSoy drink is available in 1 litre, 300ml (can) and 250ml (convenient pack), available nationwide in convenient stores and supermarkets.

Now…let me clarify something. I’m not a big fan of milk of any kind, especially the dairy version of milk. This is because I’m lactose intolerance. Some milk gives me nasty reaction. Among them are intense tummy cramps and vomiting. But these F&N Seasons NutriSoy are not dairy based and it is something that I can definitely stomach. :) F&N Seasons NutriSoy is packed with energy as it contains loads of essential vitamins and protein. Suitable for those who are lactose intolerant and strict vegetarians who needs protein sources in their diet. They’re low fat, cholesterol free and contains no added preservatives, flavourings or colourings, so go ahead, knock yourself out. :D These drinks are  great for the health conscious and they’re practically guilt-free. :D A bonus: They tasted good. My boys loves it, and I think you’ll love it too. .Pairing breakfast with F&N Seasons NutriSoy is simple, and it helps busy mothers like me to provide nutritious and healthy breakfast for my family

image

Here’s Chef Kenneth Kam, explaining to us the wholesome goodness of F&N Seasons NutriSoy and why it is important for us not to skip breakfast, no matter how busy and hectic our lives is. Oppsss…he sent yours truly on a guilt trip a lil bit, I have to say.

 photo 1ChefKennethKamispreparingthechickenbreastforahealthygrilledchickenwrapwithvegetables_zps00b5ffdd.jpg

So, after spending some time in the land of guilt, the F&N Seasons NutriSoy Breakfast Love cooking demo commences.

Us mummy bloggers get to have some hands-on cooking too.

image

Cooking in progress. :) ingredients used are all fresh and nutritious.

Here’s the stuff we cooked that morning. Two savoury dishes and two sweet dishes for breakfast. :) On the sweet side, we got pancakes and banana muffin with toasted walnut while on the savoury side we have mushroom omelet and grilled chicken wrap. Looks good, aren’t they? Well, I assure you that they are yummylicious and here’s sharing the recipe with all of you wonderful mummy and daddies out there.:) I can assure you that your kids will love these as I do. 4. Pour ⅓ cup of batter into the center of the pan. Cook until the edges start to look dry and visible air bubbles have just started to form near the center of the pancake.

5. Flip and cook the other side until golden.

Present were hotel guests, all the Heads of Departments and hotel staff. After a short welcome introduction by the hotel’s management, guests and members of the hotel staff started to light candles around the lobby, reception and restaurants. After which, everybody joined in the countdown to switch off the lights. As a tribute to all the passengers and crew of flight MH370, a minute of silence was observed by all.

Gina Chan, Director of Sales, said all the departments of the hotel played an active role on Saturday night: “Earth Hour is about creating awareness amongst people about the energy they are using and efficient ways they might wish to consider to conserve it. All of us should be involved in this small but very significant effort”, she said.

A lucky draw was later held whereby three lucky winners came out triumphant and to enhance the occasion, the elegant Clair Rozells entertained with a mini acoustic performance which included songs like Heal the World by Michael Jackson, Wonderful World by Louis Armstrong, You’ve Got A Friend by Carole King and many more to the delight of everyone who joined in the festivities.

Birdwatching Activities in Kuala Kubu Bharu with Sahabat Media

Not long ago, Sahabat Media was given an opportunity to visit Kubu Bharu for ‘ Bird Watching ‘ activity .For those who are familiar with Bukit Kutu , or even picnic at Sungai Chilling , must have been aware of the existence of Kuala Kubu Bharu Rest House located at Jalan Padang Kubu Bharu Golf.

 photo DSC07979_zps96f10e70.jpg

It’s famous with the myth about a white crocodile breaking the dam and leading to a British officer being killed to the incident. How true about the white crocs breaking the dam, nobody could confirm it but the incident has resulted in massive flooding that has killed many people and destruction of properties, with just an old mosque and a Buddhist temple that survived the flood .

 photo DSC07962_zpsf2a39df5.jpg

One for the album: Sahabat Media ready to go birdwatching. :D

 photo DSC08007_zpsf3368e5b.jpg

Upon arrival. we were divided into groups coupled with an escort and a bird expert .

 photo DSC07792_zpsfeba9968.jpg

Each group is provided with binoculars and a book ‘ Birds of Malaysia ” for the activity. We traveled to several locations said to be a favorite place of birds. During this activity we were asked to be more sensitive and discreet because the birds often hide behind trees and foliage . It is said that there are hundreds of species of birds here and we were only able to identify a number of species .

Among them are’Asia Glossy Starling ‘,’ Black Naped Oriole ‘,’ Magpie Robin ‘,’ Antwren ‘,’ Straw Headed Bulbul ‘,’ Black Headed Bulbul ‘,’ Fantail ‘,’ Bee- eater ‘,’ Paddyfield Pipit ‘ , ‘ Flower Pecker ‘ , and also some eagle . We were amazed and fascinated by the beauty of the Millennium Park; the location for visitors to see the birds. The atmosphere was so different. Refreshing and relaxing to say the least.

 photo DSC08010_zps6e566d91.jpg

Although the weather was rather unfavourable during our trip, it did not dampen our enthusiasm for finding birds in the surrounding area . According to Ms. Almaz Mokhtar , Town and Country Planning Officer , the birds here will have difficulties to fly if the weather is bad, and they will only perch and nest in tree holes . However we are lucky to be able to see several species of birds flying around in groups and heard the birds chirping. Unfortunately for us though, we could not see the bird anywhere in sight. Just their chirpings.

The experience in finding and identifying birds at Kuala Kubu Bharu was not only fun, but an eye opening experience as well. Looking forward to come back in the future to see the annual ‘ Bird Race ‘. ‘ Bird Race’ is a competition to identify the most bird species . The event is first in the state. Keep a lookout about in in the blog soon. :D

Salmon Galore in Utara Coffee House, Armada Hotel Petaling Jaya

Yours truly is not a big fan of fish. Yups, definitely not a big fan. I’m more into crustaceans, red meat and poultry kind of girl. Dishes made from fishes usually puts me off. I hate the fishy smell and not to mention the bones… oh, the bones are such a turned off. But the good folks in Armada Hotel has invited me to sample their new offerings on their menu: Norwegian Salmon and I thought…fine… I’ll just give it a try as the chefs in Utara Coffee House, Armada Hotel Petaling Jaya has never disappoint. *gulp* So fishes… here I come.

image

I get to try 7 Norwegian Salmon dishes : Salmon Caesar Salad, Pacific Rim Salmon Soup with Shittake Mushrooms and Herbs, Salmon Tikka, Salmon Tostadas, Salmon and Potatoes Au Gratin, Foil Baked Norwegian Salmon and Salmon Roulade& Oyster Gratin.

image

Salmon Caesar Salad (RM26) was not only appetizing, but crisps and fresh too. Topped with grated parmesan cheese, the salad is to die for and my son polished off his the plate within minutes. Thumbs up for the Caesar salad, even a kid loves it. Highly recommended to those who can’t do without their greens.

image

Pacific Rim Salmon Soup with Shittake Mushrooms and Herbs (RM25). Voted everyone’s favourite that night. The soup was creamy and flavourful with generous chunks of salmon and shittake mushrooms. The accompanying garlic bread made the soup a wholesome meal, and small eater would find that the portion is pretty satisfying.

image

Salmon Tikka- fragrant rice, acar and cucumber (RM26). The rice, though fragrant was a tad bland and has a very strong herbal taste. Initially, I thought that chef should have bothered to include some salt while cooking the rice, but much to my delight, the taste was pretty much balanced when paired with the flavourful Salmon tikka and refreshing cucumber slices.

image

Salmon Tostadas- served with tortillas, guacamole, sour cream and tomato salsa (RM26). Lovely dish, especially when dipped in the tomato salsa. Worth every penny spent and highly recommended to those who wants some light but not overwhelming fish dish to sample.

image

Salmon and Potatoes Au Gratin (RM28). The Salmon was fresh and naturally sweet and complement the potatoes au gratin pretty well.

image

Foil Baked Norwegian Salmon served with a bed of zucchini, capsicum and champignon mushrooms (RM28). My husband’s favourite that night. According to him, the salmon was not only fresh and naturally sweet, but was juicy and bursting with flavour. Any salmon fans would definitely adore this.

image

Last but not least, Salmon Roulade& Oyster Gratin (RM30). A slab of poach salmon served with oyster gratin. I loves the oyster gratin. It was cheesy and flavourful, but the poach salmon doesn’t seems to sit well with me. Too strong fishy smell to my liking, but to be fair, I’m never a fan of fishes to begin with, and to be able to sit thoughout the meal and actually enjoys it is an accomplishment on it’s own. :)

Overall, the salmon fare offered by Armada Hotel is delicious and worth trying.

Attractions in Putrajaya: Putrajaya Lake Cruise with Sahabat Media and Celebrity Friends

Cruising the Putrajaya lake, looking at the sunset while enjoying a foot massage on a cruise is fun. Such was the experience for 1 hour 30 minutes on the Putrajaya Lake Cruise last week with local celebrities, Sahabat Media and Tourism Malaysia.

image

The place is located at Presint 1 Putrajaya Bridge. Near the Putra Mosque. There’s plenty of tourists attraction here in Putrajaya. Among them is the new package like the Putrajaya Lake Cruise Dining @ Leaf, Moonlight Cruise, Love Boat, Cruise & Learn, Cruise & Hunt and Footloose & Cruise. What’s more, visitors can choose whether passengers want to board a boat or gondola; traditional Malay boat-shaped to cruise around Putrajaya lake. Awesome, isn’t it?

image

The package prepared for us the other day was the FootLoose and Cruise, consisting of foot spa, liveband and buffet dishes. With a minimum fare of RM150, I’d say this is quite an experience.

image

Getting abroad

image

Our boat was known as ‘Kelah, named after a type of carp fish’:D or the English name for it:Mahseers. It inhabit both rivers and lakes, ascending to rapid streams with rocky bottoms for breeding. Like other types of carps, they are omnivorous, eating not only algae, crustaceans, insects, frogs, and other fish, but also fruits that fall from trees overhead.

image

On the upper deck of Kelah. Seri Spa staff, beckoning us.

Foot Spa and Pedicure

Foot spa stuff

Candles and aromatheraphy

Spotted DJ Azz of eWana FM enjoying his foot spa.

image

Having seen DJ Azz enjoying the foot spa, I wanted that too, so I joined Ayu Malaysian Idol who was doing the foot spa while the rest of my blogger friends went to the lower deck. :D

image

Checked out the pastry and dessert spread after the foot spa. Was feeling quite hungry.

image

I decided to grab some mocktails

image

And went out to the lower deck to enjoy the sceneries. :D

image

That’s me, chilling out at the lower deck

image

Picture of blogger friends Beki, Khai Artz-Far and Izzati Ghafur. This is the best way to enjoy the cruise, in my opinion…chillaxing at the deck with teatime snacks while enjoying the picturesque sceneries.
