Madeline Claire Franklin holds an MFA in Creative Writing from the Vermont College of Fine Arts WCYA program, as well as a BA in Media Study and Anthropology from the University at Buffalo. When she is not writing strange fiction for young adults, she is probably attempting to dismantle the patriarchy and/or practicing witchcraft. She is a queer, Jewish, invisibly disabled woman living in sin in Buffalo, NY, with her partner, two dogs, three cats, and two Roombas, in a little yellow house called Cluckleberry Farms. She is represented by Danielle Burby of Mad Woman Literary Agency.

Mainly, I read my horoscope in the hopes of somet

“How shall I ever learn who I am when there is so much of me that belongs to someone else?”
Madeline Claire Franklin, The Poppet and the Lune

“A thing is only as great as the amount a person is willing to risk for it. If you are not willing to risk anything, then the thing mustn't be so great at all.”
Madeline Claire Franklin, The Poppet and the Lune

“The unreality of the past weeks lifted like a fog, but its residue remained. All of the past is like that, but most especially the parts that are out of the ordinary.”
Madeline Claire Franklin, The Poppet and the Lune

Topics Mentioning This Author

“Another world is not only possible, she is on her way. On a quiet day, I can hear her breathing.”
Arundhati Roy

“We don’t need a list of rights and wrongs, tables of dos and don’ts: we need books, time, and silence. Thou shalt not is soon forgotten, but Once upon a time lasts forever.”
Philip Pullman

“After nourishment, shelter and companionship, stories are the thing we need most in the world.”
Philip Pullman

“There is no greater agony than bearing an untold story inside you.”
Maya Angelou, I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings

“I think it's perfectly possible to explain how the universe came about without bringing God into it, but I don't know everything, and there may well be a God somewhere, hiding away. Actually, if he is keeping out of sight, it's because he's ashamed of his followers and all the cruelty and ignorance they're responsible for promoting in his name. If I were him, I'd want nothing to do with them.”
Philip Pullman
