Thank you for visiting me on Goodreads! I'm the author of the novel All Different Kinds of Free and a professional freelance writer. My creative nonfiction and reporting have been published in Business Week, Phoenix, Raising Arizona Kids and The Writer magazines, among others.

Hillbilly Elegy by J.D. Vance
"I can't totally decide where I stand on this book, but I definitely enjoyed the read. I especially liked the first half of the book, chronicling Vance's younger years in Kentucky and Ohio. I don't agree with all of the author's conclusions and sen..." Read more of this review »

Hillbilly Elegy by J.D. Vance
"J.D. Vance tells his childhood story of instability, neglect, and sadness with such love and respect. He's honest but not judgmental, as this is his home and they are his family. His book is a hopeful and triumphant journey through life among some..." Read more of this review »

"Dear Reader,

I never expected to venture into social commentary, but as a hockey mom (and all around sports mom) for almost a decade, sometimes inspiration is...unavoidable. Therefore, I'm delighted to share with you my new contemporary satire: #HO..." Read more of this review »

“A book is like the best friend you can imagine. Once you read a book, it stays with you forever.”
Jessica McCann, All Different Kinds of Free

“I had no vote in the making of such a law, and I have no intention of abiding by it, either.”
Jessica McCann, All Different Kinds of Free

“But our tiny home is so much more than its four ramshackle walls and lopsided roof would have you believe. Inside, it’s big, full of love. It’s a hospital where my babies can be born. It’s a schoolhouse where my children can learn. It’s a mansion where my husband and I can enjoy the riches of our life together.”

“Like works of literature, mathematical ideas help expand our circle of empathy, liberating us from the tyranny of a single, parochial point of view.”
Daniel Tammet Thinking in Numbers How Maths Illuminates Our Lives

“The hardest choices in life aren't between what's right and what's wrong but between what's right and what's best.”
Jamie Ford, Hotel on the Corner of Bitter and Sweet

“If you’re going to risk and maybe fail, fail at something that matters. Fail gloriously so that even in failure, lives change.”
Jon Acuff

“Too many of us are hung up on what we don't have, can't have, or won't ever have. We spend too much energy being down, when we could use that same energy – if not less of it – doing, or at least trying to do, some of the things we really want to do.”
Terry McMillan, Disappearing Acts

“It is better to fail in originality than to succeed in imitation.”
Herman Melville
