I poured a lot of my time over three years into the series! The answer is complicated, really, but to keep it simple, I wasn't finding the time to write the other series that I'd committed to before Arisen was created, and later in the Arisen series I wasn't keeping up with Michael, which was unfair. Also the series was getting longer than originally planned, and something (or someone) had to give, and that ended up being me. I'm not a military writer (though I picked up a lot during the process of co-writing the first eight Arisen books), and Michael is, so it seemed the best choice for us was for him to finish the series and for me to bow out and pick up on everything that I'd neglected.
I may do zombies again at some point, in an entirely new series, but I need to quench my thirst for scifi, horror and fantasy before I consider going back.(less)

The plan seems to be 12 books for the main series, plus an undefined number of prequels/sequels and maybe follow up series later on.
Though, after book eight I'm not involved with the main series any more. Mike will be finishing it.
I may return at some point to do sidebooks or mini series prequels or sequels.(less)

“Whatever happens, keep moving and thinking. Countless millions have spent their last moments on Earth paralyzed by confusion. Don’t be among them. These words faded out again, but not before leaving their mark on him. And this mark was indelible. He knew now: he was somehow going to have to think his way out of this.”
Glynn James, The Horizon

“All of the injuries were bright little nexuses of pain in her much-abused body. But they felt warm, and she liked them, because they reminded her she was alive.”
