As far as sci-fi fans are concerned, Firefly was cancelled much too soon. Just as the show was finding its rhythm, the executives at Fox balked at the show's $3 million per episode budget and tepid Friday night ratings. Fox just didn't see its potential. Good space opera has always been costly to produce, and ratings-versus-cost is a repetitive cancelling theme when it comes to our speculative... Read more of this blog post »

The Ogre Hunt (Science Fiction & Fantasy)
1 chapters   —   updated Nov 12, 2014 01:39PM
Description: This short story is a YA prequel to my Guardians of Aandor series from Tor books. The series itself is not YA, so more adult fantasy (i.e. Game of Thrones) is not your thing, you might want to stop after this story. The main character is one who appears as an adult in the novel. Spoiler alert: the character's true nature is a mystery for half of the first book, Awakenings. By reading the short, you discover what she is in advance of the novel. This should not effect the enjoyability of the novel overall.

One of the best books I've read this year. A truly original successor to the Hunger Games model among a plethora of copycats and wannabees. I can't recommend this book enough.

I liked this better than book 1. I almost feel as though Mr. Child wrote this one first and the first book second. Maybe, maybe not. On to book 3.

Lots of friends were raving about this series. I liked the first book, though perhaps not as zealously as others, but enough to read book 2.

A blogger associate of mine recommended this classic and I am glad for it. This classic still stands as a great and timely fantasy even after decades, and Elric has been much copied over the years by television shows and other novelists.
Joy to read.
