Zombie Apocalypse question with BA, Julia, Kiernan and Sean
Dawn Roberto gave us our question today - thank you, Dawn, we had a lot of fun with this one.
If the zombie apocalypse happens what five items would you all have with you to survive it?
BA Tortuga
Hydroelectric generator.10 cases of peanut butterSize 6 metal knitting needlesA loaded tool boxMy daddy.
Julia Talbot
Five things, huh? Do my bassets count as one? I'll say yes. Sadie, especially, would turn into a ninja assassin basset and kill. My wife. BA is KICK ASS and I would put her up against any zombie any dayA cricket bat, because it worked so well for Shaun of the dead...and unlimited supply of fresh watera fully and perpetually charged Kindle with an endless supply of booksWhat? You didn't say there were rules...
KiernanShovel. Shovels are incredibly useful tools during a zombie apocalypse. You can bash in zombie skulls with the broad side, decapitate with the edge, and dig a hole to put all the decaying corpses in once you're done. Or, you know, plant flowers, in case the zombies turn out to be friendly.Ramen. It has a half-life of a billion years, and you can survive on it. Sort of. You can also crumble it on the ground and use it as an early warning system in case zombies breach your first line of defense. This way, zombies can't sneak up on you. Because zombies are like that, you know. They tiptoe. Crunch. Crunch. Crunch.Bottled water. Duh. Need it to make the Ramen. Also, because tap water is just nasty.Air freshener. Because...ew. Zombies stink. At least the juicy ones do.Rubber squeaky brain toy. A necessary addition to the zombie fighting arsenal, used for distraction purposes. Scenario: "Here boy!" *squeaks rubber brain toy* "Who wants the brain? You want this, huh?" *throws brain toy * "Okay, go get it!" When the zombie runs off to fetch the rubber squeaky brain toy, you run like hell in the other direction. What? They're zombies, not rocket scientists. Unless they actually were rocket scientists before they were zombified, in which case, break out the shovel.

SoundCloud Audio Book Snippets by Cardeno C.
Happy Monday! I have a couple of reader-suggested snippets from my new audiobooks and so I'm sharing audio book clips from Sound Cloud. If you're an audio reader/listener and have suggestions of fun clips from any of my audio books, let me know and I'll create them for my SoundCloud page.
(Sidenote: I am way to proud of myself for figuring out how to put clips here so don't tell me if they don't work. Kidding. Tell me. I'll only cry a little.)
Have a great week!

Cover Reveal, Safe in His Heart by Renae Kaye
Okay – here it is. The cover and blurb for my new book.
Release date: 2nd May, 2016
Pre-order: now
The pre-order links for the other outlets will be coming soon. At the moment it’s available only at Dreamspinner: link.
Safe: Book Two
Andrew and Paul learned about God and Jesus in different churches and realize their views of spirituality are worlds apart.
Andrew was raised Catholic and was told his homosexuality was a sin. For his entire life, he hid the truth. He married and had children to present a façade to the world—that of a straight man. It’s not until he has an affair with Paul, who shows him a different side of Jesus, that Andrew realizes he can be gay and still believe in God. Paul’s Jesus is one of acceptance and love, and in Paul’s church, being gay is not a problem.
For Paul and Andrew, falling in love is the easy part of their journey. They must make it through the fires of cheating, being discovered, Andrew’s wife leaving, the necessities of childcare and family life, the demands of their jobs, and working on their commitment to each other. Only then can they be safe in each other’s heart.

With a little Help From My Friends by Felice Stevens
People say writing is a solitary job. And for the most part they are correct. Yes the actual writing part, the putting the words on the screen in coherent sentences, that is where we face it alone, but there is SO much more that comes before it gets to that place.
I have always loved to work cooperatively. I find getting a group together brings out people's strengths and when ideas get bounced around, wonderful things can happen. Usually when I get an idea for a story, I talk to my friends and they tell me, "That sounds interesting," or, they say. "Ehhh, not so sure about this. Let's talk about it." And we proceed to bounce story lines until I get the idea right in my head and start to write.
But it doesn't end there. After I write a few chapters, I send them to a trusted friend who knows me, knows my writing and loves MM romance and I either get the all clear you're on the right track, or NO. this is not going to work.
And I begin again. And write and write. But in between I talk to other writer friends who are also going through the process and we bitch and moan together, laugh about things, bounce ideas off each other and talk about the decline of the state of publishing (cough KU cough). Without my writer buddies I couldn't do this thing.
I can't even get into all the people who help take my raw manuscript and shape it into the final product, my editors, my cover artist, everyone who helps me before I hit that publish button or submit a manuscript to a publisher. they have my heartfelt thanks.
And in other news...I had a release! My first audiobook with Tantor Media came out last week. Beyond the Surface, starring your favorite fashion designer Julian Cornell and his long lost fireman lover, Nick Fletcher is now out and narrated by Marc Bachmann. I hope you enjoy it and Book 2 in The Breakfast Club series, Betting on Forever is coming on April 19th!
Have a fantastic weekend

What is your idea of a HEA by Riley Hart
We all know if you're writing romance you need to have a happily ever after. If the book doesn't have a happily ever after, then it's not a romance novel. I'm curious though...what do you consider a happily ever after? For me it's when the couple gets over the main conflict of the book, they say and know they are in love, are committed to each other, and will fight through whatever the future holds. Once they know they want to be together forever, and get over the conflict and I know they're happily in their relationship, that is their happily ever after to me. Does that mean I believe everything will be perfect in their futures? That they still won't have work to do? No, because no matter how much in love people are, relationships aren't perfect and there's always work to do. But you know they're committed and will fight together. That is my idea of a happily ever after.
Even if authors ended every book five, ten, or twenty years later, that wouldn't guarantee a happily ever after either, because in real life, people get divorced ten, fifteen, twenty years or more after marriage. And let's face it, if every book ended with a perfect bow, twenty years later when they have grown kids, that would get pretty boring.
I get asked a lot about writing books about characters who already had a story. I have to admit, I'm honored every time someone asks that. I feel so very lucky that readers love my characters so much that they want more from them, but I have to admit, it would have to be very special circumstances for me to write more than one book about the same couple for all the reasons I said above (Broken Pieces was that different kind of story). Once they're committed and get over their current conflict...there's no story to tell. They'll have ups and downs but they're in love and will stick it out. Plus, to write a book you have to have conflict and most of the time, I hate putting my characters through more than one book's worth of conflict. I hate making them hurt or breaking them up, which is totally a personal thing for me and my writing. There are plenty of books I've read and adored where the main couple has more than one book. I also want to say I think genres other than contemporary are a little different--or short stories and novellas where you don't need a big conflict. If they're fighting crimes or it's paranormal then the conflict isn't between the couple in each book.
I ask this because I sometimes hear people say my books are more of a happily for now, instead of a happily ever after. Which is fine. That's the beauty of reading! We all take something different from a book. We all see something different, but hearing that shocked me because I always considered my books happily ever afters. LOL. So now I'm being curious.
Those are my random thoughts on happily ever afters. I'd love to hear yours. What do you consider a happily ever after? What makes you feel satisfied at the end of a book?

Ask Andrew - What to Read
Dear Andrew
What is on your TBR Pile/list? Do you prefer reading in your genre or do you like to go outside the box so to speak when reading?
Dawn
Dear Dawn
I used to read a very wide range of things from romance, to adventure stories, and even some of the classics. I was a voracious reader for many years. But lately things have changed. Since I write now, I don't have as much time to read, so while there is some variety to what I read, I mostly read within romance. I just finished Banker's Hours by Wade Kelly and before that I was rereading the Dragon Men by Amber Kell. I read No! Jocks Don't Date Guys a while ago and I was reading some of Renae Kaye's work. My next story is Hoofbeats and I will start that on the plane today. (Dominic and I are traveling to a family funeral.)
I don't have as much time to read as I used to, so now I read for pure enjoyment. Once I have met my writing goals for the day, I get to pick up a book, lay back, and enjoy it. For me that's what reading is all about. As for a TBR pile, the next things on my list are to catch up on my Dreamspun Desires titles. I have a few to read!
Hugs and Love
Andrew
Ask Andrew is your chance to ask questions of a gay romance author. The questions can be about the writing process in general, writing sex scenes, gay men, sex, characters in romance, characters having sex... okay you probably get the picture. I promise to answer your questions as frankly and with as much humor as I possibly can.
So if you have a question, please send it to andrewgreybooks@comcast.net. This is different from my usual email so your questions don't get lost. I will answer one question a week.
Please remember this is meant to be all in fun. (I was going to say good, clean fun, but who wants that.) So send me your questions and let's see what mischief we can get into.

Part 3 - A Werewolf, A Dragon And A Vampire Walk Into A Bar by BA, Julia and Sean
Here is the 3rd installment of our story.
Part 1 is here.
Part 2 is here.
A Werewolf, A Dragon And A Vampire Walk Into A Bar
by BA Tortuga, Julia Talbot and Sean Michael
Part 3
“Nope. We’re waving around euphemisms for cock,” Magnus said.
“Oh, good. I just wanted to be sure we were all speaking a similar o-fuck-me-now language.” Copper liked being clear.
“I’ll fuck you now and later and in between,” Singe promised, smile absolutely wicked, eyes full of heat.
Magnus rolled his eyes. “Singe is not subtle. Trust me, I speak your language.”
“He’s never spoken a single word that anyone understood, trust me,” Singe said.
It felt right, being caught in the middle. It was about fucking time someone fought over him instead of against his happy ass.
The bartender dropped his steak on the bar in front of him and Singe handed over some cash. “That should cover my tab, as well.” Then Singe smiled at him, all toothy and eager. “Eat up, pup.”
He groaned, the scent of the meat enough to make his hungry belly try to gnaw through his backbone.
“Mmm. Another house red, Thomas, if you please.” Magnus watched him with predatory interest. “I find myself...peckish.”
Peckish.
Copper wasn’t peckish. He was fucking ravenous.
Singe rolled his eyes, and nudged Copper. “Seriously, don’t be shy. Have at it.”
He grinned, then dug into his steak, moaning at the flavor of fresh, perfectly seared meat.
Singe moaned as well, the sound coming from deep in his chest. “Hungry pup. I can’t wait to feed you what you really want.”
“You can’t give him what he wants, lizard brain.”
Singe snarled at Magnus. “Nobody asked you, death-breath.”
“No?” Magnus sighed, nudging Copper with his elbow gently. “Look, Singe, we can work together. Why not share? He looks like he can take us both on.”
He totally could. Possibly at the same time. Ambition, his name was Copper. “Maybe.”
“You lay off the insults and I’d be willing to find out,” Singe told Magnus.
Magnus held up both hands, a patently false innocent expression on his face. “You got it. It’s tough for me; the insults are my coping mechanism.”
Singe gave another toothy grin. “Mine is setting my annoyances on fire.”
Copper took another bite of steak. He was fairly sure coping mechanisms were for pussies. Of course, if Magnus kept stroking his back that way the guy could cope however he wanted. He had talented fingers.
And Singe’s gaze was going to burn him up. Or the man was going to eat him up. Either one worked.
His eyes crossed, a jolt of sensation crawling up his spine and settling in the base of his brain.
Singe took his fork and stabbed the last quarter of his steak and offered it to him. “You’re going to need your strength.”
His mouth popped open like someone had pressed a button, and the meat slid on his tongue.
Singe’s gaze was glued to his mouth. “Mmm. I like watching a man eat. It tells you a lot about what all they can do with their mouths.”
Copper growled happily, his tail wagging all on its own accord. Magnus moaned at the motion, fiercely strong hands grabbing his hips hard enough to bruise.
“Easy, pup. This isn’t that liberal of a bar.”
“If you’re done we can get out of here,” Singe suggested. “My room is around the back. Nice and private and looking on the forest.”
“I’m done. I mean, I’m just getting started, but I’m done eating. It was good.”
Sharp fangs brushed his neck, the teeth just barely pricking him. A rush of pure heat flooded him, and his eyes flew open wide.
Singe growled some and stood. The guy was huge, tall and stacked, he looked like a mountain Copper wanted to climb. Grabbing his arm, Singe tugged him up. “Come. Now. Before we both take you right here on the bar.”
“Yeah, that would be fucking shame,” he whimpered softly.
“Don’t want you arrested before I get a chance to do you.” Singe got them moving.
“None of us can stand up to that particular nonsense, boys.” Magnus led the way and suddenly they were outside, the wind sharp and strong, the scents of all of them the best damn perfume.
It made Copper want to howl. With any luck, he’d be doing exactly that in very short order.

Washington D.C. Trip by Cardeno C.
Happy Monday. I had a wonderful time visiting Washington D.C. I posted pictures on Facebook and Twitter and Instagram and I've gathered them all below.
Lovely overcast weather for my first day in D.C. First food, then tourist time!
This restaurant was a feast for the eyes and taste buds!
Naan from start to my plate. Yummy!
Really interesting museum.
Dinner. Dessert was so good - beniets.
Fun day being a tourist. The Capitol, the Supreme Court, Union Station, the Kennedy Center.
My level of tired: it took me three tries & nearly as many minutes to figure out how to get water from this dispenser. Fun day though.
Night pictures of monuments.
Not sure it's a fortune, but I really like it. I also loved the lunch that came with it. Now more touristing!
Today was Air and Space and yummy food.
Today: Museum of Natural History and dinner at Busboys & Poets.
Today was an amazing day of art. Hirshhorn Museum, National Gallery of Art, Smithsonian American Art Museum. SUCH A great day!
Have a great week.

All of us have some fear. Fear of flying, of heights maybe of bugs.
I'm 5'8" but am scared of little bugs; I fear getting up on step stools, since I don't like heights. And I'm not that fond of flying either. I need to be like Samantha the witch from Bewitched; wiggle my nose and be there.
As a writer, you pour everything you have into your stories. But once they're out in the world they are lost to us in a way. At that point, some fear the loss of control of their characters. We all fear reviews.
Its taken me until now to realize you have to kick this fear to the curb and just do it. Life goes on whether you participate or hide beneath the covers. And unless you have someone ridiculously hot waiting under there for you, you have to come out and live. There is no other alternative. Fear is a dirty, ugly word, designed to stand over you with its foot on your neck and mock you.
So I say, throw off the fear. Take a trip, stand on a ladder or finally commit to writing that book you were going to start every year, but never had the time for. Don't believe someone who said they've never been afraid. Everyone has been afraid once in their lives. Its what you choose to do with that fear that will determine whether you will succeed or not.

TOUCH THE SKY by Riley Hart
I love collaborating on books. I'd already finished two with another friend when Christina Lee and I decided to write TOUCH THE SKY together (all three collabs are under my YA & NA pen, Nyrae Dawn). I think there is something really special about writing a book with someone else. You each bring something unique to the table. It's fun to get the book, read what the other person wrote and then try to play off of what they did.
TOUCH THE SKY is a very important book to us...duh, right? Every book should be and that's true. This one deals with some tough subject though--one being mental health which is something deeply personal to both of us.
TOUCH THE SKY is available for preorder now and will be out March 28th.
Lucas Barnett and Gabriel Stewart didn’t have it easy as kids. They were only trying to deal with bad situations at home when they became lifelines for each other. Their pipe dream was to someday meet in LA, where Lucas would design skyscrapers, and Gabriel would learn to fly. But then Gabriel disappeared without so much as a goodbye, and Lucas got himself in trouble with the law.
Five years later, both men are at a loss when they run into each other at a Hollywood bar. Lucas is still angry, but it’s not as if Gabriel could control how his mind and body had betrayed him. Being found on the ledge of that bridge had changed everything.
The attraction is immediate, but it’s more than their inability to keep their hands off each other. Neither man expects the fierce connection pulling them together. Unfortunately, ignoring their problems doesn’t make them disappear. Gabriel’s internal struggles are serious…dangerous. And no matter how much Lucas wants it to be true, saving Gabriel won’t make up for not being able to save his mom. If they don’t find the strength to face their own demons before the darkness takes hold, they risk more than just losing each other forever.
