Music Monday ~ Who Else but THE WHO
It’s April 1st, and I Won’t Get Fooled Again.
I’m still excited from watching Pete Townshend bounce his guitar off the floor.
If you prefer bouncing of a different kind (I’m baiting someone to comment on my silly wordplay), grab a copy of any of my eight erotic books. No Kindle? No problem. FREE Kindle Apps allow you to read my books on all devices.

Get Inside the Mind of Author Billy Ray Chitwood (@BRChitwood)
I haven’t known Billy Ray for long, but I get the feeling he’s not a man anyone would easily forget. He’s published nine books, and his enthusiasm for his work and the work of others is infectious. Armed with a friendly disposition and a quirky sense of humour, he’s also very supportive of his fellow authors.
With so many books available, it was difficult to choose only a few to highlight. Fortunately, Billy Ray provided interesting summaries for them. Please give him a warm welcome as he shares more about himself and his books.
* * * *
Some of Billy Ray’s Books
Mama’s Madness has some 5-Star reviews and is inspired by an actual California mother who was possessed with evil, who tortured her children, murdered two daughters and an ex-husband.
Butterflies And Jellybeans — A Love Story is my first venture into the Romance genre and had had some good reviews. A lightning strike on a jogging path bring two people together for love. There is sibling rivalry, gambling, murder, a matriarch’s sad secret, and a desperate desert rebirth that makes this romance novel perhaps somewhat unique in the genre.
‘The Bailey Crane Mysteries’ consist of five books, beginning with An Arizona Tragedy — A Bailey Crane Mystery - a book inspired by the brutal murder of a personal actress friend of mine. Each of the Bailey Crane books can be read independently, but there is a natural progression of Bailey through the books.

Now, let’s learn more about the author …
Inside Billy Ray’s Mind
[eden] Great to have you here, Billy Ray. Let’s start with an easy question, shall we?
What is your idea of perfect happiness? Julie, music, good friends, good home, and good health to enjoy them all. (Now, if we’re talking of a young Billy Ray, um, ah, the same! – Julie’s still looking over my shoulder!)
[eden] The young Billy Ray was very handsome. Not much has changed, I see. Julie is a lucky woman.
What turns you on creatively? A good book, like, Everyone Burns by John Dolan. Also, the sea, the sun, the beach, Placido Domingo, wine, and Julie (She’s still there, over my shoulder!).
Which words or phrases do you most overuse? Absolutely – Indeed – Really – Got you covered – Bullshit (optional)
What quality do you most admire in a man? Confidence, wisdom, wit, with humility – A John Dolan kind of guy! (No jeering, please!)
What quality do you most admire in a woman? All of the above plus a body that makes my old heart beat faster!
Do you have any regrets? Not becoming the ballad singer I wanted to be (a second Sinatra would have been nice!).
[eden] Maybe one day you’ll record something on Youtube!
If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be? My impatience and/or maybe my ‘bible belt’ guilt.
What is your greatest fear? Someone looking down on me from the next urinal!
[eden] That’s one I’ve never heard before.
Which living person do you most admire? Okay, aside from John Dolan, that would be my wife, Julie, who sees life as well as anyone I know.
[eden] Thanks for sharing this beautiful picture of you and Julie in front of the Tower of London.
What profession other than your own would you like to attempt? Other than being the ballad man mentioned earlier, perhaps a professional golfer.
If you could choose what to come back as, what would it be? Somebody’s not listening! Either a highly successful ballad singer or a highly successful professional golfer or both! – Wow! Would that not be something?!
What do you consider your greatest achievement? My children and Julie – and a few books here and there.
What are some of your favorite curse words? Shucky-durn – Fugitit – Dang – Aforementioned Shit – Damn – (Julie won’t let me put my favorites down here! Just think ‘em! They’ve been used a lot!)
What is your greatest extravagance? Living in a penthouse on the Sea of Cortez, pictures available if requested! PLUS, I might make you one hellava deal!
[eden] Trust me, I’m tempted, especially with snow and freezing temperatures here in Toronto!
What is one thing you want to do before you die? Guess ‘being young again’ is out of the question, so I go with ‘seeing one of my books on the viral train!’ (Notice I said, ‘one,’ not all – so, there is no greed here!)
What is the trait you most deplore in others? Non-stop talking/whining! (God knows one of me is enough!)
Who is your favorite writer/musician/film director? WRITER: James Kavanaugh (with, seriously, John Dolan a close second! – JD truly is great writer!) Kavanaugh just reached my soul on such a personal level – MUSICIAN: Kenny G with the Sax and Frank Sinatra with the lungs – FILM DIRECTOR: Steven Spielberg.
And finally, do you have a motto? Until this moment, I had no motto! Now, for you, I do! That’s it! FOR YOU, I DO!
[eden] Nice, Billy Ray. Thanks for being a sport and answering all the questions.
Readers, please say “hi” to this lovely man, and check out his books. Also, don’t forget to connect to him via all his networks.

Being an Appalachian lad I ate quite a lot of emotional soup and have been trying for all the years to digest it. I’ve taken the easy and the difficult routes to get at this point in life, a point not so different from that confused kid who joined the US Navy to escape the fragmented uncertainty of youth. All the mobility of childhood, all the harshness that comes with a broken and misplaced family, all the ensuing mistakes and successes, all have guided me to this place in time and space.
My writing is my therapy. My existence and my meaning are there in the lines and between the lines I write. It is there where I can see myself most clearly, and there is much that displeases me, beguiles me, and pleasures me. Outside my windows is The Sea of Cortez with little sun diamonds shimmering under a soft blue canopy of sky and sun. On the far horizon where the sea meets the sky, I can see God’s great work and His eternity.

Generosity is Always in Style with @daretowearlove
Over the past months, I’ve been involved with the Dare to Wear Love fundraiser, which celebrates the work of Canada’s fashion community while raising money for the Stephen Lewis Foundation. The DARE TO WEAR LOVE GALA caps off Toronto Fashion Week with a fashion runway event like no other, and it’s happening at the Ritz-Carlton this Friday – March 22nd!
Event founders Chris Tyrell and Jim Searle of Toronto-based Hoax Couture have invited 25 top Canadian fashion designers to participate. Get to know more about the designers and who they will dress! The line-up of models includes: legendary guitarist Liona Boyd, CBC News anchor Dwight Drummond, eTalk’s anchor Tanya Kim, and many others!
Chris and Jim believe in social justice and created DARE TO WEAR LOVE to help others less fortunate.
As much as I’m looking forward to the fashion show, I’m also super excited about the SILENT AUCTION. Listen to my Podcast Interview with @SimonsGroove
Last week, I was interviewed by Simon Jones for his podcast, aptly called: Simon’s Groove.
This show is what happens when two former radio talk show hosts retake the mic for a raucous weekly show filled with chat about current events, pop culture and more. Simon’s Groove features interviews, music, movie reviews and corny jokes, too.
Simon and I had a great time chatting about writing, erotica, new projects, and he was every bit as groovy as I knew he would be. He and Unckel Mike really ham it up before I join them. They are hilarious!

Get Inside the Mind of Author @CameronGarriepy
There are some people who are tremendously talented writers. They not only understand the mechanics of writing but are also excellent storytellers. Cameron is one of these people.
I’ve known her for over a year and had her on my blog in October when her debut romance novel, Buck’s Landing released. It’s received excellent reviews, so do yourself a favor and pick up a copy while waiting for the warm weather to roll in!
Earlier this year, Cameron invited me to take part in The Story Circle, her unique fiction relay for guest writers. It was a fabulous experience, and a wonderful story called “The Candlestick Killer” came out of it. I’d highly recommend all writers to participate in The Story Circle if you get a chance.
I’m thrilled Cameron has returned to provide a personal glimpse into her life. The timing could not be better as she has a FREE OFFER for readers over TWO DAYS ONLY—today and tomorrow.
Find out what Cameron is giving away and read about this incredible woman.
* * * *
FREE OFFER? Tell me more!
Cameron recently collaborated with three other indie authors to publish Metaphysical Gravity, a collection of four short stories about love.
Read a summary
“Love is metaphysical gravity.” R. Buckminster Fuller
A force beyond reason and the laws of nature, love draws us together in many ways. In these four short stories, four authors explore the essence of love, from practical to magical.
“In Her Hands,” by Angela Amman, explores the moment in which a woman weighs the choice between expectations and the lasting passion she craves.
A shy librarian offers her beautiful best friend a shot at the English teacher she secretly desires, in Mandy Dawson’s “Home.” But what if beauty isn’t all he needs in a lover?
Cameron D. Garriepy’s eponymous “Valentine” is a young woman whose fairytale is sidetracked by a trickster loose in the streets of New Orleans.
In “Elephants in the Atmosphere” by Kameko Murakami, a young woman in extraordinary circumstances finds love in an unexpected place and against all odds. Is a happy ending even possible?

Now, let’s learn more about the woman behind the words by getting …
Inside Cameron’s Mind
[eden] Thrilled to have you share more about yourself, Cameron. Why don’t you start by telling us what turns you on creatively.
[Cameron] Music, food, pleasure. Preferably all at once. I draw a ton of inspiration from music, from things I’ve tasted and my culinary and music education. From sensual experiences. Yes, sex, but also black sand, a perfect powder day on the mountain, a solo cello, raw oysters, power ballads, the smell of spring grass, the color red, being one of four voices in perfect harmony.
[eden] I love red too!
Which words or phrases do you most overuse? I always go back to hands and eyes. And then I see them everywhere. Sparkle and bloom appear a lot in my imagery, I’m noticing. When I talk? Lovely. So overused. I’m making a conscious effort to stop.
[eden] I am a fan of ‘Lovely’ too. Mental note to cut down.
What is your idea of perfect happiness? A lack of the everyday stress that sucks the marrow from your bones. No more worrying about paying the bills. I don’t mean wealth. I mean not juggling finances to make sure the bills all get paid. In that scenario, I’m home with my son while he’s still little and free to write. Hungry enough to need to be the best I can, but not worried about the wolf at the door. And maybe enough mad money for a trip to Paris.
What quality do you most admire in a man? Humor and intelligence; wit, I guess. A real appreciation for women. Strong, well definined arms never go amiss, either.
And in a woman? Passion, but not the crazed kind. Dedication and practicality all wrapped around belief and big dreams. And compassion.
What is your greatest regret? There are so many, but they fade, as Steven Page once sang, “into dull tableaux.” Does that mean they’re not true regrets?
What profession other than your own would you like to attempt? I would love to front a band, but I never had the guts to go for it. Hey! There’s an answer to the previous question.
[eden] I agree!
If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be? My tendency to snack on my feelings. It’s a destructive habit. The trouble is, my feelings always taste so very good… salty, sweet, pungeant, chocolatey.
[eden] Hmm… interesting, no one’s answered it quite like this before.
What is your greatest fear? Rejection. Which is weird, since I routinely put bits of my soul out into the world for public comsumption.
[eden] I understand, Cameron. So many writers share this fear, myself included though I’d never let it stop me. I’m so happy to see it hasn’t stopped you either.
Which living person do you most admire? That might be the hardest question. There are some obvious answers: My mother, who amazes me all the time. Stephen King, whose imagination I covet and whose honesty blows me away. Every other indie author out there. I don’t know how you all get it done. I don’t know how I get it done. I’m not sure, though, if there’s just one Top Person.
If you could choose what to come back as, what would it be? A well-loved family dog or a trophy wife. Was that not what you meant?
What do you consider your greatest achievement? My books. Each of them as they have come out has surpassed the one before, because I’m always learning and discovering and getting better at some aspect of writing and publishing.
What is the trait you most deplore in others? False advertising. Be who you are. Even if it’s not perfect. I’ve been noticing a trend lately towards false sweetness and modesty and it bugs the crap out of me. Ambition isn’t a four letter word. Own yourself and what you want. I’ll start: I am an excellent writer, and I want to make a living selling my fiction. I’m also a pretty nice person, but my halo is more than a little tarnished and I know there’s a lot I can do better.
[eden] Love your honesty and this response.
What is your greatest extravagance? Food. Restaurants, ingredients. We’re not wealthy people. We can’t travel a lot, we pay our bills and live off what’s left over. I don’t have expensive shoes or jewelry. But we spend way too much on groceries and dining for a family of three. I can live without a vacation, but not without the occasional aji sashimi or truly excellent dry aged steak.
What is one thing you want to do before you die? There are too many to count, but just recently, I was telling my son a story about the honeymoon trip his Daddy and I took to Hawaii. I was reminded that I never saw the sun rise from Haleakalā. I want to do that.
Who is your favorite writer/musician/film director? Author Katherine Neville has written two books I reread almost annually, falling into them like the arms of a beloved friend, The Eight and A Calculated Risk. My favorite musician is harder… I had a classical music education, over whom Beethoven ruled, but the band who’s held my heart since 1991? R.E.M..
What are some of your favorite curse words? I was brought up an unwashed heathen, so I apologize in advance to Christians, but I love colorful uses of Jesus Christ! and Sweet mother… Christ on a cracker, sweet mother of (insert topical term here), etc. A mutual poet friend of ours and I share a love for Christ on a bike! Fuck is such a versatile word, too. Shitsticks is another favorite. And I hear ass hat is really making a comeback, which is nice, because it so aptly describes so many people… Wow. I’m a potty mouth. Yikes.
[eden] Ass hat makes me giggle.
What is your motto? Almost 15 years ago, I read this in my horoscope: “Tap into that gorgeous weirdness at the core of your unique destiny: the inspired lunacy that would evolve into genius if you ever learned to make it sing and dance.” I haven’t always lived up to it, but it’s always there in the back of my mind, because it’s true. When I let the joyously crazy part of myself take over, that’s always my best work.
[eden] Cameron, agree that all too often we stifle the “crazy” in us, and we’d be better to unleash it more often!
Readers, I invite you to connect to Cameron and don’t forget to get a copy of her book Metaphysical Gravity, available FREE today and tomorrow!
Get it HERE. I got mine!

Self-described shenaniganist and unabashed romantic, Cameron wrote her first romance novel on an antique typewriter, using a stack of pink paper. Detours between that draft and her publishing goals have included a BA in Music, a professional culinary education, and twelve years in the child-wrangling industry. Cameron writes from the Metro Boston area, where she lives with her husband, son, and two poorly behaved dogs. She is a managing editor at the virtual writing community, Write on Edge.

Get Inside the Mind of Author @ErinCawood
Erin Cawood is a UK-based author I’ve come to know recently. She’s a delightful woman and a terrific writer. Her debut novel, Tainted Love is the first of the Valentina Secrets series.
Erin is also a great example of someone who gives back. 50% of the royalties from her series will be donated to charities supporting those affected by abusive relationships.
It’s my pleasure to welcome the lovely Erin Cawood to tell you more about herself and her books.
* * * *
Read a blurb about Tainted Love
For anyone in a relationship, the words ‘we need to talk’ can only mean one thing. In the last twenty-two years, the McKenzies have been through it, survived it, learned by it, and grown stronger from it, because life didn’t stop for breath when they needed it. Amongst the tears and the tragedies, the hopes and happiness, they’ve built something amazing: a happy family, a luxury lifestyle and a booming empire. Don’t they deserve to have it all?
But for the perfect wife, those four sinister words mean something entirely different. They’re a summons into a private world where what happens behind closed doors stays behind closed doors.
Faith has no doubt in Calvin’s undying love for her. It’s what kept her sane in the darkest hours. If only she could figure out what it is she does wrong… because it’s rapidly becoming apparent their tainted love is running out of time.

Inside Erin’s Mind
[Erin] First of all, thank you Eden for having me. I’ve really enjoyed reading your work and I’m thrilled you asked me to be here.
[eden] My pleasure to have you here, Erin! I know readers are anxious to learn more about you, so let’s get started. Tell me …
What turns you on creatively? Anything and everything. “Your voice is one that runs and hides” is the first line from the poem ‘A Star in Heaven’. It appeared the moment I read something someone said about Faith, the main character from Tainted Love, and how she’s given a voice to many women in abusive relationships who simply don’t have the courage to speak out themselves. This poem it one of the most emotive poems I’ve ever written.
[eden] I love when poems can speak to you. Abuse is a heavy subject and it’s brave of you to tackle it in your fiction.
Tell me what makes you happy. Anything purple, or a toffee nut latte and an apple and cinnamon muffin, or a bar of caramelized hazelnut chocolate, or pizza. I’m easily pleased. Seriously though, for me, perfect happiness is found in my family and friends. They’re there when I need to talk, when I need to hug (it can be a cyber one). They’re there for all the fun times too and let me tell you 25 people sleeping in a two bedroom bungalow at Christmas is a blast!
Which words or phrases do you most overuse? You know, my characters tend to do a lot of locking gazes in first drafts, and you know, their blood boils that much I’m surprised they haven’t spontaneously combusted yet. LOL! And you know I use this phase an awful lot too. Thank god for awesome editors who pick up on these things, that’s what I say!
What qualities do you most admire? I admire a person (man woman or child) who never gives up. Who has the ability to continually fight for what they want, for what they believe in, no matter what or who stands in their way and regardless of how many times their have to try. Someone who gives it their all, time and time again.
If it was easy you wouldn’t appreciate it when you got there. So keep reaching in life because it will happen, and it will be all the more worth it when it does.
[eden] I SO agree.
Do you have any big regrets? I stopped worrying about the things I couldn’t change after I was diagnosed with a lifelong medical condition that dictates my day-to-day life. I’m not saying I haven’t made mistakes. I have and I’m sure I’ll make many more in the future. But those mistakes have made me the person I am today. I’ve learned from them and then moved on from them. I can’t change them.
Let’s say you could change one thing about yourself. What would it be? If I could change one thing about myself, it would be that I always take on too much. I’m an author, I’m studying for a degree, and I have a part-time job. I never stop. On the rare occasion I watch television it involves surfing social networks and editing, reading, or outlining if I’m not doing homework for University.
[eden] That’s a lot on your plate, Erin. I admire you, and it’s a good time to give readers a peek of the second book in your Valentina Secrets series. Just another example of how you NEVER stop!
Tell me your greatest fear if you have one. Heights… no spiders … no creepy crawlies *shudder* NO! Things hiding in the sand when you’re swimming in the sea, yikes! I was bit by a crab when I was like 9 years old on Blackpool beach and face flopped right into the water!
Which living person do you most admire? My Mum. She’s done and achieved the things she wanted in life and encouraged me to do the same. I’m from a very big family and I’m one of the youngest so standing on my own two feet was never really required until I became an adult. My mum has given me the advice and the self belief to face down some of my life’s toughest moments.
[eden] Awww … she sounds amazing.
What profession other than your own would you like to attempt? I spent a long time doing plan B then I was made redundant and continued on the same path of plan B and within months I realized it wasn’t what I wanted to do. So I applied to university to study what I’d been doing as a hobby for years, web design, digital communication and internet marketing. I love it. At the same time I published my first novel. There is nothing else I’d like to do.
If you could choose what to come back as, what would it be? Either a dolphin or a cat.
What do you consider your greatest achievement? At 14 I said I was going to be a published author. At 25, when I started my first novel, I said I wanted to be published before I was 30. At 30, I published Tainted Love. I’m still buzzing over this achievement.
[eden] Great achievement. Congratulations!
What is the trait you most deplore in others? Everyone else is to blame for the poor outcomes in their life. I can really get on my soapbox about this one so in short: The cosmos is the cosmos and what happens in life, happens. It’s not what happens that make you the person you are, it’s how you deal with it.
What is your greatest extravagance? My sparkly nails, my purple hair (Jeez! I’m such a girl) and Coffee… A good decaf is so expensive!
[eden] You ARE such a girl!
What is one thing you want to do before you die? I’d love to see the Aurora Borealis, you can see in many places but for me, for whatever reason, I want to see it in the Canadian Rockies.
Who is your favorite writer? My literary hero has to be Danielle Steel. I read The Gift when I was 14 and knew I was going to be an author.
What are some of your favorite curse words? Fiddlesticks. Best. Curse word. Ever!
What is your motto? I’m a firm believer that you can achieve anything you put your mind to and therefore I live by the motto “Only you make your dreams come true.”
And of course, “Because True Love Can Conquer Anything.”
[eden] Well said, Erin. Especially for a non-romantic like me!
Readers, I invite you to say “hi” to Erin and follow her and her upcoming series. Connect to all her links below.

Erin Cawood has been reading and writing romance since her early teens and the discovery of chick-lit in her early twenties brought its own special twist to her writing style. She loves a lead character you can really get behind and cheer on for every step of the way. Thus, ends up sliding around and sometimes into the darker, edgier side of romantic fiction.
Erin lives in Leeds, UK, with her partner of thirteen years and their fourteen year old cat and spends her days somewhere between fiction world and student world. Before returning to full time education two years ago, Erin had worked at a theme park, a convenience store, a public house/restaurant both in the kitchen and waitressing, as an insurance agent and currently works part time in a customer contact centre.
