Enemy of an Enemy – Second Edition!
I have posted the updated version of Enemy and both Amazon and Smashwords currently have it live. It may take up to two months before the various other stores update their version and listing. I am sure many of you have some questions about this so I have prepared this FAQ to help address them:
1) Why re-release the book?
Well, frankly Enemy being my first book ever had some big issues with grammar and syntax. The story was strong enough that many people over looked these issues and still enjoyed the book. When it was released, I did not have enough money to hire a professional editor, now I do. I felt that the book needed enough help that it was worth the effort to give my readers a higher quality product at no cost to them.
2) What has changed?
Nothing as far as the story line, plot points, character building, world building or anything along those lines has changed. The edits were all to style and language issues. Things like "effect" verse "affect", or "has been" verse "had been." Several reviewers called my writing in Enemy juvenile, and this should additionally address their concerns.
3) Should I get and read the new version?
I highly recommend you replace your copy with the updated one. Since the book is free, this will not cost you anything. This way at any point you decide you want to reread the book, you will have the good version. Since there are no story changes, you will not be missing out on knowledge by not rereading it, unless the language issues made things unclear for you the first time.
4) How do I know if I have the updated version already?
The updated version hit Amazon and Smashwords on late on 4/3/2012. If you purchased the book before then, you do not have it. To verify, simply open the book to the title page and look for "Editors." If it lists both Kristi and Elaine then you have the updated version. If it only lists Kristi (or no one) then you do not.
5) How do I get the updated version?
If you downloaded the book from Smashwords, then simply delete your copy, and go to Smashwords and grab the new version. Smashwords makes this very easy for readers.
If you downloaded the book through your Kindle or Kindle app, then you have a couple more steps. First, delete the book from your all your Kindles, and then log on to your account at Amazon and go to "Manage My Kindle." On that screen you will have a listing of all your Kindle books. Scroll through the list until you find "The Enemy of an Enemy (Lost Tales of Power)," and pick "Actions->Delete from library." Once that is done, simply go back to the Amazon page for Enemy and repurchase it. Again, the book is free so there is no cost to do any of this.
As of right now Barnes and Noble has not posted the updated version so I do not know how to get it if you purchased via your Nook. You can always grab the updated copy from Smashwords for now if you wish. Once B&N has the update version up, I will post instructions on how to get it.

New Wiki!
First, the production of the print edition is not going as fast as hoped, but still hope to have some news on that soon.
Second, Enemy of an Enemy has been sent to our professional editor for review. I feel this book needs the most help of anything we have put out and it is worth the pain of a second edition to get it up to par. Since it is a free book, everyone will automatically have access to a new copy via Smashwords. I do not know how Amazon, and the other stores will handle the new edition yet, but I will let you know when I find out. Expect news on that in a month or so.
Finally, the big news that prompted this update… we have brought on line a wiki for the Lost Tales Multiverse! We talked about it a few times, and we have had readers request it more then once, so we have decided to put it online. Right now there is handful of pages in it, but I hope to get it filled up with all current knowledge as of the released books.
I have the wiki set to allow users to edit and add information right now. We will have to see how that goes with spammers and vandalizers. I hope we can leave it open for fans to add to, and use the discussion features.
IF YOU HAVE NOT READ ALL THREE BOOKS THE WIKI HAS SPOILERS IN IT AS OF RIGHT NOW AND MORE WILL BE ADDED WITH TIME.

Update on Print Editions and Volume Four
Rise of Shadows has been out for a little while now, and is selling well! Right now it is out selling Academy 2-1, which means at least some of you have been sitting around waiting for Shadows to come out and are snatching it up now. I have been stalling on producing the hardcover and paperback versions intentionally to allow time for any grievous errors to be noticed by readers. Since none have come in, I plan to start working on them this week. It typically takes a few days to get it submitted, and then I will have to order proof copies, which typically have problems that I will need to correct and resubmit. This process usually takes about a month to work out. I hope it goes better this time, but all I can promise is that work is under way.
I completed another chapter last night of volume four, but its name is escaping me. I have several ideas, but none of them seem to fit just yet. It will probably revolve around "darkness" since that is typically what happens after shadows rise, but beyond that I am just not sure yet.
Meanwhile, I would love to hear feedback on the series as a whole. Has anyone figured out who the seven are yet? How about the six? Or the Old Man and his partner? How about the tower? Any guesses on the book that Vydor has? Who is your favorite character so far? Sound off in the comments, or drop me a line.

Rise of Shadows has finally been released!
We are proud to announce that Rise of Shadows has finally been released! This is our first book to be professionally edited, and I really think our editor has done a great job with it. The book has a much improved feel to it with out changing the story. It still reads exactly like my story… just better.
Here are the details:
In The Enemy of an Enemy, darkness came to the Empire, and magic was born from the bowels of men's fears. The great and mighty Imperial Navy had to face and overcome unspeakable horrors. In The Academy, fledgling wizards were gathered and trained to fight back and keep the light, while the darkness laid in wait, biding its time and silently gathering its forces. Now as warriors of light, those wizards must begin to make a stand against the rising tide of darkness or watch their realm be overcome!
Shadow must build and train a team of wizards to venture out of the safety of their fortress to discover the source of the strength behind the powerful pirate forces that have taken control of the majority of space around Alpha Academy. This quest will put them on the road to discover a dark truth about their realm's past that none had ever even imagined.

Release date approaching!
We are making great progress here on preparing the final manuscript to be released. Several pre-readers are working through the book and we expect feedback from them soon. In addition, we have received back from our new editor a marked up manuscript that we are working through. We also have a low-res version of the cover art. So we are poised to release Volume III very soon. I do believe it is the best one yet!
Volume IV is well under way with about seven thousand words written so far. I have not yet decided on a title for it, but it will likely be something like "Era of Darkness" or "Age of Shadows." Once I make up my mind I will let everyone know.
Until then keep watching this site, and our Twitter feed (@LostTales) for news and updates!

We Have a Real Editor Now!
We have completed the second pass of editing Volume III! Normally we would take at least four passes at a book, but instead we have found a professional editor that has agreed to take on Rise of Shadows for a price we can afford. She will be getting a copy of the manuscript by Tuesday, and if all goes well with her editing Shadows we will have her go back and edit Enemy and Academy. Since Enemy is a free book, once it is edited, you can just download a new copy to get the edited version. To be clear, I will not allow any story changes; these edits will be only for grammar and other syntactical issues.
Academy however is not free, but I will be happy to give anyone that wants a copy of the edited version (when it comes out) who purchased Academy from Amazon, Barnes and Noble, or other retailer (including those that bought the print edition) a coupon for a free copy of the edited ebook from Smashwords. Just email me a copy of your recite and I will take care of it. Anyone that purchased a copy from Smashwords does not need to worry about this because you automatically have access to the most updated version.
I will update this site, as I know more about how this editor works out. She comes recommended to me from others in the industry so I have high hopes for the outcome.
Based on where my cover artist says she is, and how long our new editor thinks she will need we are looking at the ebook release Rise of Shadows near the end of February. The print edition will not be out for several weeks after that as it is much harder to get that to press.
There is still time to apply to be a pre-reader of Shadows but time is running out. The first wave of pre-readers current has their copy and I am looking forward to hearing from them. Contact me for more information via the contact link, or if you have it my direct email.

Update on Rise of Shadows
The first major editing pass of Rise of Shadows is finally complete! We are starting the second pass now. I expect it will go much faster than the first pass. I have also received the rough pencil sketch for the cover and have approved it. Our cover artist is now working on the full color version of the cover. We are still shooting for a February release, but we are running a little behind where I would like to be. I do not plan to rush it out, so it may slip into March.
I will be sending out pre-reader copies to select fans soon of the partly edited work. For those that do not know my pre-readers help with making sure that the story works, and that there are no plot holes. In exchange, they get the book free and get to have input into the story. The drawback is they have to read the work while it is still being edited for grammar, syntax and other mechanical errors. I am looking to expand my pre-reader base a bit for this release so I may be contacting some of the loyal fans and reader of this blog soon. If you think you might be interested please let me know.
Along those lines, if you run a blog or book review site and would like to post a review of any of my books, I will provide free copies. Just drop me an email with the details and we will get it settled.
I have started work on Volume IV, which I am still working on a good title for. I am thinking something along the lines of "Era of Darkness" or "Time of Shadows" but I have not settled yet, so for now it will just be "Volume IV."
If you have not seen it yet, be sure to check out the Rise of Shadows trailer on YouTube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NBGB7E...
