Melissa McPhail is a classically trained pianist, violinist and composer, a Vinyasa yoga instructor, and an avid fantasy reader. A long-time student of philosophy, she is passionate about the fantasy genre because of its inherent philosophical explorations. Melissa loves sailing, skiing and discussing books and philosophy—not necessarily in that order.

Melissa's fantasy series A Pattern of Shadow and Light has won eight awards and (more importantly to her) a fiercely devoted following.

A Georgia native, Melissa now lives in the Pacific Northwest with her husband, their twin daughters and four very large cats.

She is known for being an engaged author on social media and welcomes your thoughts on her work, the fantasy genre, or independent pu

This is going to be a longer book than the previous three in order to move forward all of the many extant threads in the story.

In addition to continuing the threads of Tanis, Nadia, Ean, Trell, Alyneri, Carian, and Franco, we'll finally get back to the Queen of Dannym and her fight against the Duke of Morwyk, and also regroup with Gydryn val Lorian and his scattered troops.(less)

Hi Matthew,

I'm so glad you're enjoying the series so far. Kingdom Blades will be released for Audible in early 2017. I'm hearing the end of February as the tentative date right now. When I know something definitive, I'll post to my blog.

Best wishes for a happy holiday,

Audible version of The Sixth Strand (Book 5)

Since so many of you are asking, the Audible version of The Sixth Strand will not release in June with the print and ebook editions.

The data I have from my publisher at this time is that Nick Podehl is set to record the book in September. Based on past experience, this should put the release on Audible at some time in December, 2019.

As soon as I have a definite release date, be assured I will l...

Hi Louise, Thank you so much. That's very kind of you to say. I'd call myself a visual writer, but I'm a philosopher at heart, and my novels reflect both of these traits.

Best wishes to you!
