Author’s Pick of the Year

I love writing about misfits, introverts, and outcasts, those who basically walk through life ignored. I love how in the Christmas story it’s the lowly shepherds who the angels come to first, and how in The Secret Life of Walter Mitty it’s the guy who  works in the basement who eventually  gets the accolades.   It’s not that I enjoy wallowing  in their misery, it’s  just that I love shining a light on the unnoticed so that the world can see what it’s missing.

That’s what I was trying to do when I started writing  I’m Nobody: The Lost Pages  over a year ago. And that’s what R.J. Palacios did brilliantly in her book Wonder.  My two daughters kept bugging me to read it last summer, and I’m glad they did  because Wonder is definitely my top pick of the year.

But not anymore. It appears that […]
