Mexico Celebrates Día de Muertos
To view photos and videos from those celebrations, visit the Patzcuaro, Michoacan, Mexico and Oaxaca, Mexico location pages or browse the #DíadeMuertos hashtag.
Every year from October 31 to November 2, Mexicans celebrate Día de Muertos or the Day of the Dead. Friends and family gather to remember, celebrate and pray for their loved ones who have passed. Celebrants build altars called ofrendas for the deceased using calaveras (sugar skulls), marigolds and the favorite foods, beverages and possessions of the departed. The streets near cemeteries are also filled with parades and decorations.
Though first observed in Mexico, today Día de Muertos is observed around the world, and Instagrammers are there capturing the celebrations.

NOT A JOKE: Photos from Personhood for Women
Also, check out National Advocates for Pregnant Women, org that stands up for the rights of women (often the ones with the least means), debunks bad science and challenges religious extremists influencing laws in courts.
Ok, you want to know what’s not a joke?
Misleading.
Each of those women is holding a card with the same number on it. None of those stories have any way of verifying that the stories are in any way true. All I see here is one of my passions in life, the free and equal access to being able to make your own choices about health without anyone interfering with them because your choices might make them feel icky, being subverted by a frankly flimsy attempt at whipping up furor at the expense of credibility.
If I could, I’d wipe this off the internet, find the people who made it, and slap them silly with their own camera and tell them to come back when they’ve got at least enough sources to pass my daughter’s fourth grade report process.

I vividly remember...

I vividly remember a few moments from when I was growing up that - as corny as it sounds, felt like they’d altered my life a little bit. One was when I was six years old and I watched The Little Mermaid for the first time and the other: Sailor Moon when I was 13. I can’t even describe how much they blew my young mind and I’m sure they’re some of the biggest influences that nudged me into art.
Both have a certain reverence with me and as much as I drew them growing up neither of them are something I’ve painted now that I’m all grown up, there’s definitely a feeling that whatever I paint won’t do justice to it but; I adored Sailor Moon from the very first second I saw it on tv. I would wake up at the crack of dawn before school to watch this and then race home again afterwards to watch the repeat. I think it’s about time I paid homage to one of my favourite anime’s ever; Sailor Moon!
I am also totally effing stoked for the reboot coming soon!

I love that all these people are white tho
lmaooooo so predictable
this makes me think of the fact that most folks on WIC and welfare are white, but because of the stereotype of black woman welfare queens, white people ON welfare and WIC talk mad shit about it, because they feel like they are above the assistance, by their whiteness alone
white folks will talk shit about you while in the damn office filling out paperwork for assistance
^^^^^^IF THAT AINT THE DAMNED TRUTH
WHAT THE FUCK IS WRONG WITH THESE HUMAN PEOPLE ARE THEY REAL
