I’ve been writing for as long as I can remember, with my earliest writing memory at six years old when I wrote both a one-act play and my first book. That first book, The Magic Key, was a few lined pages between a pink poodle wallpaper cover - not a publishers dream, but it’s where I started, and I’m still here…many years and stories later.

Recent success includes being selected as a finalist in the New York Book Festival, the Writers’ Digest International Self-Published Book Awards, and the Global E-Book Awards for my poetry/photography collection titled, Do You? which is a 76 page collection of original poems and full-color photographs. The E-book is listed on Amazon (http://ow.ly/ralCP) and bound books available from XLibris (http://ow.l

Last night I drove to New York City to pick-up my husband from work, and it was fitting that I drove past the site where the attacks of September 11, 2001 occurred. Looking up at the Freedom Tower reminded me just how big the twin towers used to be and how massive the event was. Every year, I post about what I remember on that fateful day. It's my small effort to keep the torch burning for the... Read more of this blog post »

Fast read but I felt the characters and the plot were a bit simplistic.

Martin Luther King Jr.
“There comes a time when one must take a position that is neither safe, nor politic, nor popular, but he must take it because conscience tells him it is right.”
Martin Luther King Jr., A Testament of Hope: The Essential Writings and Speeches

Anne Lamott
“If you are a writer, or want to be a writer, this is how you spend your days--listening, observing, storing things away, making your isolation pay off. You take home all you've taken in, all that you've overheard, and you turn it into gold. (Or at least you try.)”
Anne Lamott, Bird by Bird: Some Instructions on Writing and Life

Anne Lamott
“I don't think you have time to waste not writing because you are afraid you won't be good at it.”
Anne Lamott, Bird by Bird: Some Instructions on Writing and Life

Anne Lamott
“Bird by bird, buddy. Just take it bird by bird.”
Anne Lamott, Bird by Bird: Some Instructions on Writing and Life

Anne Lamott
“The society to which we belong seems to be dying or is already dead. I don't mean to sound dramatic, but clearly the dark side is rising. Things could not have been more odd and frightening in the Middle Ages. But the tradition of artists will continue no matter what form the society takes. And this is another reason to write: people need us, to mirror for them and for each other without distortion-not to look around and say, 'Look at yourselves, you idiots!,' but to say, 'This is who we are.”
