Examiner.com's Alan Roger Currie: "PUAhate.com is full of Elliot Rodger and George Sodini types"
In light of the murder spree that took place recently in Santa Barbara, California by a 22-year old young man named Elliot Rodger, at least one popular Book Author and Professional Dating Coach said that the unfortunate murders that left seven people dead "did not surprise him at all." That author and dating coach is Examiner.com Men's Dating Advice Columnist Alan Roger Currie.
Elliot Rodger's murder spree is very similar to the 2009 Bridgeville, LA Fitness shootings that took place in Collier Township, a suburb of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, committed by an egotistically frustrated Bachelor by the name of George Sodini. Sodini, like Rogers, was angry, bitter, and frustrated that he was not receiving any romantic or sexual attention from women of interest.
Currie, who is the author of many dating advice books for single heterosexual men, has been a semi-regular contributor to the internet website PUAhate.com. Currie claims he posted a warning message to the members on the site years ago after he noticed a high number of posts written by men who expressed a passionate hatred toward the women who had ignored them and rejected them.
"PUAhate.com is a cesspool of misogynists and emotionally fragile and unstable young men. Within weeks after I started posting there, I told the guys there that someone from that message board was going to potentially end up becoming a rapist or serial killer of women. In the case of Elliot Rodger, unfortunately, my premonition was accurate," said Currie.
Rodger was a frequent poster on PUAhate.com, which is a worldwide message board and discussion forum for single heterosexual men who felt "taken advantage of" by various professional dating coaches, pick up artists, seduction gurus, and others involved in what is known as "The Attraction & Seduction Industry," first made popular by Neil Strauss' best-selling book, The Game: Penetrating the Secret Society of Pick Up Artists .
Rodger made a video expressing his romantic and sexual frustration regarding his perceived lack of attention from women. Subsequently, Rodger set out to "gain retribution" on all of the attractive women who he felt shunned him in favor of other men. The murders happened near the campus of The University of California-Santa Barbara. Rodger is thought to be the son of Peter Rodger, who was the 2nd Unit Director on the 2012 film, The Hunger Games.
Even though Currie is not a licensed or credentialed psychologist or psychiatrist, he claims he knows the signs of men who possess a high degree of misogynistic bitterness toward women. "In my book, I refer to this type of behavior as 'Mode Four' Behavior," said Currie, highlighting one of his 'Four Modes of Verbal Communication' described and discussed in his popular book for single men entitled, Mode One: Let the Women Know What You're REALLY Thinking .
"Many people in society do not realize how angry and frustrated a lot of these young men are," said Currie. "These men do not just have harsh criticisms of women's behavior, these men have a passionate hatred for women. They feel ignored, rejected, disrespected ... and they want some form of 'egotistical revenge' on women. Even to the point of wanting to see the women who have ignored them or rejected them dead."
Currie said he started posting on PUAhate.com in October of 2010, after he heard through word-of-mouth that some of the members of the site were distorting and disparaging the advice he offers to men in his self help books. Currie was actually banned from the site at least twice for expressing his concern and displeasure with the misogynistic and hateful nature of the discussion forum.
Currie added, "I hope this unfortunate incident can act as a wakeup call for many. Today's dating scene is not what it used to be. There are some men who have dozens of women at their disposal, while other men have gone months and years without one date with a woman. The frustration festers and turns to anger, and the anger festers and turns to hate. You now have a nation of Ted Bundy wannabes." Bundy, one of the nation's most notorious misogynists and serial killers of women, was convicted of multiple murders in 1979.
