Everything about the job, even the crap parts. That's because I've wanted to be an author since I was 11 years old and to be one is a dream come true. Same as my acting work - getting paid to do what you love, to share great passions with an audience, is simply wonderful.(less)

I believe in sloth and a lack of desire to write at any given moment but not something that stops me writing. If I feel I'm stuck in a scene or a description or whatever, I walk away from it (sometimes literally) and do something else. Going back to the issue later tends to give me a fresh perspective. What I never do is stress about it. Life is too short for such nonsense.(less)

message 2: by James

James Barclay Hi Lucinda,

Thank you so much for those kind words. It means a massive amount to know people like you enjoy my work so much, and that knowledge really helps when the days of drafting are dark and progress is slow...

Keep on reading
James

Lucinda Dear Mr. Barclay,
As a huge admirer and lover of your work i would like to thank you for being my friend here on Goodreads which is such an honour, as i hold the most high regard for any published author who one can only aspire to. Your books transformed the fantasy genre and many will be re-read time & time again, so thank you for sharing your work to the world. Goodreads is a fantastic site where one is able to converse with so many likeminded people, both readers and authors so thank you once again.
Lucinda Xx
