Owen’s Recent Updates

Owen O'Brien is now friends with Chris Yorro
The Fountainhead by Ayn Rand
“I would give the greatest sunset in the world for one sight of New York's skyline. Particularly when one can't see the details. Just the shapes. The shapes and the thought that made them. The sky over New York and the will of man made visible. What other religion do we need? And then people tell me about pilgrimages to some dank pesthole in a jungle where they go to do homage to a crumbling temple, to a leering stone monster with a pot belly, created by some leprous savage. Is it beauty and genius they want to see? Do they seek a sense of the sublime? Let them come to New York, stand on the shore of the Hudson, look and kneel. When I see the city from my window - no, I don't feel how small I am - but I feel that if a war came to threaten this, I would throw myself into space, over the city, and protect these buildings with my body.”

"Realistically druggie

...not that I'd know from experience or anything. Also made me immediately want to be in NYC, more so than usual."

“The tragedy of our seemingly insurmountable ignorance keeps us seeking.”
Owen O'Brien

“Love is the expression of one's values, the greatest reward you can earn for the moral qualities you have achieved in your character and person, the emotional price paid by one man for the joy he receives from the virtues of another. ”
Ayn Rand

“You are not your job, you're not how much money you have in the bank. You are not the car you drive. You're not the contents of your wallet. You are not your fucking khakis. You are all singing, all dancing crap of the world.”
Chuck Palahniuk, Fight Club

“We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, then, is not an act, but a habit.”
William Durant

“Where do I get my ideas from? You might as well have asked that of Beethoven. He was goofing around in Germany like everybody else, and all of a sudden this stuff came gushing out of him. It was music. I was goofing around like everybody else in Indiana, and all of a sudden stuff came gushing out. It was disgust with civilization.”
Kurt Vonnegut

message 2: by Owen

Owen O'Brien Haha, I'm just taking the advice from the comment stream on karen's review of my novel...because I really do need to start reaching out and connecting with more people on here. If anything I'm the pathetic one with just 3 friends so far. But a good trio at that, and a great place to start!

Jasmine it feels mildly pathetic that karen has to tell people to be friends with me.
