“There is a theory which states that if ever anyone discovers exactly what the Universe is for and why it is here, it will instantly disappear and be replaced by something even more bizarre and inexplicable.

There is another theory which states that this has already happened.”

“You don't write a novel out of sheer pity any more than you blow a safe out of a vague longing to be rich. A certain ruthlessness and a sense of alienation from society is as essential to creative writing as it is to armed robbery.”
Nelson Algren, Nonconformity

Jared Millet Thanks! In addition to Dreams of Steam, I'll also be in another anthology Kerlak's putting out this year called WTF Mysteries, and there are a few more stories of mine floating around out there in various slush piles. Fingers crossed!

Dan Schwent I've got another 20,000 words before mine is done. And then the editting, of course.

Thank you very much! It'll take me another month, of course, to actually finish the novel.
