Born in Dublin, Ireland, I grew up in Chicago, Illinois. I currently reside in East Texas with my husband, Kevin and Old English Sheepdog, Bridie.
I started writing in 2005 while taking care of her elderly parents.
I loved reading paranormal romances and with my extensive travels back to Ireland, my writing instinctively gravitated toward Irish mythology.
Other writers portray the Tuatha Dé Danann as tricksters or deadly fae. I decided to bring them into the same light as some of my favorite authors did with vampires and weres.
"So now, we have vamps, weres, and fae all living in our neighborhoods and don’t even know it."
My first book, "The Magic from Within", won 1st place in the East Texas Writers Association Writing Contest in 2006

Taking Back Your Power

Do you know every time you give someone credit for anything that occurs in your life you are giving away your power?

Every time you blame someone else for something that happens in your life, you give away your power.

It does not matter if it is something you wanted or something you did not want.

Every time you say things like:
“It his/her fault my life is so miserable.”

Kristen Hello Evelyn, I feel very privileged to have you as a friend on here.
I just finished reading 'Unknown Magic' and I was blown away!! It is definitely one of the best books I've read in a long time. I LOVED the characters, the magic, the romance and relationships, the myth and the unexpected surprises in the plot line.
I'm SUPER stoked to read 'Stolen Magic'!
You have an amazing talent; you are able to write so beautifully and craft words in such an incredible way. I'm impressed by your ideas in this complex story and by your story telling ability.
Keep up the good work; hope to read a lot more from you in the future! :)

Leemu Thank you for the friend invitation! I'm planning to read your book soon and I'm sure I'll like it :)

Brittany Thanks for friending me! The First book I read about the Tuatha Dé Danann was from the Fever series as well which I am currently devouring. I love reading books that include myth and look forward to getting my hands on your book!

I think it's great you like reading about the Tuatha dé Danann. I also loved Karen's books. I found another author who writes about the Tuatha and that is Chyenne McCray. Her series also has Magic in the titles. Each of us put them in a different perspective, but I think you will enjoy the reads.

Brittany Thanks for friending me Evelyn. The first book that I read about the Tuatha Dé Danann was from the Fever series. And I absolutely loved reading about that lore especially since I was not familiar with it. When I found your book I was super excited about reading another series that had to do with the Tuatha De Danann. I'm sure I will enjoy your book just as much as the other series. Well I guess I'll see ya around!

Danielle Thank you for the friend request Evelyn! I actually added your book to the wrong bookshelf on my profile, meant to add it to my wishlist, I'm hoping to get it for Christmas along with your second book in the series... really looking forward to reading both, Unknown Magic and Stolen Magic, I'll be sure to post reviews when I do. :]

message 15: by ♥♥Mari♥♥ (last edited Nov 19, 2010 12:49PM)

♥♥Mari♥♥ Precisely! Glad to hear that you agree!

There are some scary moments in the Twilight books, but at the end, there's that happy ending!

Another writer who also has scary moments in her books is L.J. Smith. I'm currently reading the fourth installment of "The Vampire Diaries", which is actualy a book included in one volume. The first volume includes "The Awakening" and "The Struggle". This one includes "The Fury" and "Dark Reunion". I'm in the middle of the second one.

Smith makes me turn pages, too; however, she is a bit darker than Meyer. There are somce pretty creepy momets in these books. I do prefer The Twilight Saga!

There is one series by Smith I REALLY like, and that's the Night World books, of which I've read two. These are omnibus edtions, just like "The Vampire Diaries". I would rate them as high as The Twilight Saga, actually.

Geez, I could go on and on....where books are concerned, I can't seem to stop either talking or writing!

If you go ahead and check out some of my shelves here on Goodreads, you'll see just how eclectic I am! Lol.

TTYL!! =D

message 14: by Evelyn

Evelyn Byrne I have to agree with you when it comes to your refuse to read. I am a great fan of the happy ever after as well. I do not want to be scared witless either. Now I am not saying I don't enjoy a little scary adventure thrown in, but give my heart a rest and bring in some fun and laughter as well.

message 13: by ♥♥Mari♥♥ (last edited Nov 19, 2010 07:27AM)

♥♥Mari♥♥ Yeah, I'm REALLY into Twilight, and ESPECIALLY Edward Cullen, the sweetest, most ROMANTIC vampire I've ever enocuntered,,,,Lol.

And yes, I love paranormal books! However, there are certain writers I refuse to read, and they are: Stephen King, V.C. Andrews, H.P. Lovecraft, Edgar Allan Poe, Dean Koontz, and Clive Barker. You might think that's strange, for a fan of the paranormal, but from what I've heard of the work of these authors, it's much too macabre and terrifying for me to handle.

I especially detest Stephen King. I once read a story of his, just out of curiosity. That was a HUGE mistake. The plot involves a family that has moved into a very beautiful valley, and everything seemed so hunky dory, people were so nice, life was so peaceful...until the family found out that those who lived in that velley were paying a VERY steep price for their wonderful lives. That price was a yearly sacrifice to the DEVIL. If I remember correctly, it was a HUMAN sacrifice, too.

When this family made their escape, they left with only the clothes on their backs. They even left their car behind, so they had no choice but to hitchhike. They were picked up by a friendly couple of old hippies, who chattered away pleasantly as they drove, until...the entire van they were all traveling in turned into a huge mouth with teeth that swallowed them all up...

As for Edgar Allan Poe, I have NEVER forgotten "The Tell-Tale Heart", and "The Cask of Amontillado", which I had to read in high school. Thank God I don't have to read any more of his creepy stuff!

In short, I don't like stories or books in which the BAD guys win at the end. Although The Twilight Saga is classified as horror here on Goodreads, to me these books don't really fit into that genre, because there's a HAPPY ending!! Plus, the bad guys -- the Volturi -- don't get to have a war against the Cullens, which was their fondest wish.

And, of course, the Cullens are GOOD vampires!! YAY!!

Thanks for visiting my blog, as well as for your compliment! : )
