Leeanne Meadows Ladin has been writing and riding all her life. She learned how to ride, bareback and barefoot, on pinto ponies at her grandparents' farm in southwest Virginia. At age ten, she spent all her birthday money on "The Fireside Book of Horse Racing - A Thoroughbred Treasury." In 1973, she sat screaming in front of the TV as Secretariat won the Belmont by 31 lengths.

Leeanne later had her own horse farm, where she enjoyed trail riding with her Tennessee Walking Horses. She started her own business, Free Rein Writing, on the horse farm in 2000.

Leeanne is the author of four books of
regional historical interest, including the award-winning "The State Fair of Virginia - More Than A Midway," which featured a chapter on The Meadow. Today
