Equal Rights Blog Hop: Together We are One
I’ll confess, when I was asked to participate in this Equal Rights Blog Hop, knowing the theme was ‘what does being a part of the LGBTQ community mean to you?’, I felt a bit like a fraud.
What did I know about being a member of the LGBTQ community? Sure, I’d been bullied in high school, threatened both mentally and physically. I’d been pushed down a flight of stairs, shoved into a locker, and ambushed by a pack of violent girls. But not because I was gay. Because I was *smart*. For some kids,...

Susan Mac Nicol dishes on love, Benedict Cumberbatch, sexual abuse, and her new M/M romance!
Susan! Welcome to my website! We’re so very happy to have you here today so that we can ask our nosy discerning questions! Please tell us a little about yourself and how you came to be a romance writer. Why romance in particular? What are your favorite genres in which to read?
Until I wrote Cassandra by Starlight, I’d been a thriller/horror/psychological drama kind of girl. I love Stephen King, Dean Koontz, Jonathan Kellerman, Phil Rickman and Deborah Harkness. Then I got drawn into the world...

Ooops! Sarah Madison did it again…
Over-extended herself, that is.
I sat down this morning to jot out a quick post about all the things I have coming up this next week, and I ended up having to make a page of links first. Because oh my! I’d better pull out my running shoes this coming week…
First, a bit of nice news: I’ve had some truly delightful reviews come in recently, not only on The Boys of Summer, but also on some of my older works as well. This has served to both spur me on to finishing long-promised sequels while at t...

Five Stars and a Top Pick for the Boys of Summer from The Romance Rewiews!
Well, I started out this morning with too much to do in the allotted time before heading out the door for work. Here I am dashing about, and when I finally check my emails, I discover this fantastic review from The Romance Reviews for the Boys of Summer!
Reviewer/author Susan Mac Nicol had some lovely things to say about the story: Ms Madison writes with a wonderful flowing style, her words effortless and magical, drawing you into her story. This book is not filled with sex but more sensuality...

Why We Need to Celebrate the Small Successes
I recently came across a post being shared on Facebook. The blog post, written by a former competitive ice dancer, was titled Yes, My Thighs Touch (And I am Absolutely Fine). That post really struck a cord with me, and I’ve been thinking about it ever since.
The world of competitive skating places a lot of importance on personal appearance and weight as being major factors in how well you will succeed, so it is not surprising to me to read that blogger Jamie Silverstein has recovered from an e...

Sarah Madison blogging at the Purple Rose Tea House today!
Hey! It’s a dreary rainy day here with the promise of thunderstorms and I am glad, glad, glad!
Because that means I am perfectly justified in staying indoors today and working on various projects when I would otherwise be tempted into going out with the dog or riding the horse. It’s a struggle sometimes when you have to pick and choose which of the things you love doing because there aren’t enough hours in the day to do them all.
I’m busily working on the sequel to Unspeakable Words, entitled...

At a Crossroads… Writing, Life, and Why You Should Never Give Up
I should start out by mentioning that I got very little sleep last night. About 2 hours, all told, which simply isn’t enough. I have this personal motto which says, “Make no major life decisions without at least eight hours sleep and a good meal.” I still maintain that it’s a good philosophy, but that means you should take anything I say here with a grain of salt.
Earlier this evening, I thought a lot about what I was going to say in this blog post. I had it all mapped out. I was going to fini...

The Boys of Summer and Crying for the Moon: Latest Outstanding Reviews!
Today hasn’t been a horrible day–just a busy one. The kind of day where I hardly had a chance to sit down all day, and even then, it was just a for a quick check of emails and Facebook before the afternoon schedule began.
Not bad. Just busy. Tiring. I’ve had worse–much worse. The problem with my job is that some days it is filled with heartbreak and the delivery of bad news.
But even ‘easy’ days can be stressful when they are busy–when the phone is constantly ringing, and someone is interruptin...
