Everyone loves a poll! Second pen name, yes or no?
Okay, you know why people create polls, right? It’s either because they are genuinely curious about the answer or they are hoping to find confirmation of the decision they wish to make.
For a while now, I’ve been toying with the idea of writing a M/F romance. Partly to see if I can create a heroine that I don’t want to bitch-slap twenty pages into the story, and partly because I would like to branch out in my story telling. I was all set to write this fiction under another pen name–went so f...

Where do Supernatural Beings go when they retire? Cree Walker tells us!
We welcome today, Cree Walker, author of M/F paranormal romance novels! Cree will be answering questions and holding a book giveaway–see details below!
Hello, Cree! Welcome to my blog and thank you for answering my nosy discerning questions! First, please tell us a little about yourself and the kinds of stories you like to write. Would you say there is an underlying theme behind your stories?
When I first started writing it was just paranormal romance but then I started seeing a theme in people...

Staying the Course in a World of Instant Success…
I have to admit, I’ve been a little discouraged about my writing lately.
It’s been a struggle to come home after a 10-12 hour day at work and find the creative energy to write. I might have spent any spare moment I had during the day brainstorming about what I would do the second I got home, but by the time I do get home and take care of the animals and feed myself, any spark of desire to write has fizzled.
Then too, is the fact that everywhere I turn around these days, there seems to be some r...

New Release: A Summer Fling by Sarah Madison
Well, there you are! Another new release to share. Though technically it’s not *really* new. A Summer Fling combines the short novella Surf’s Up (written for the Goodreads M/M Romance Group’s Don’t Read in the Closet fest) along with the short story Bite the Dust, which features the fictional vampire detective mentioned in Surf’s Up. Bite the Dust was written for the Just One Bite contest, and was one of the 32 finalists in that contest.
The stories have been revised and slightly expanded, and...

Does Facebook Make You Depressed?
Some time ago, I wrote a blog post for the Savvy Authors website about whether or not too much time on Facebook can make you depressed. I was a fairly new author at the time, and I was (and still am) easily overwhelmed by too much time spent on social media. Facebook in particular was tough for me. It seemed like I just had nothing to say. I hadn’t lost 50 pounds, won the lottery, just come back from a vacation in Bali, had my newest novel shoot to the top of the best-seller list within nanos...

Iyana Jenna discusses writing and her new release: A Part of Me
Hello Iyana! Welcome to my blog and thank you for answering my nosy, I mean discerning, questions! First, please tell us a little about yourself and the kinds of stories you like to write. Would you say there there is an underlying theme behind your stories?
Hi Sarah! Thank you very much for the opportunity to visit your blog.
Hi all! My name is Iyana. I live in Jakarta, Indonesia. I mostly write m/m stories either adult or young adult. The underlying theme behind my stories is love. They are a...

Plagiarism: How you as a writer can protect yourself
If you read very much in the M/M romance genre, you’ll know that there’s been a rash of plagiarized stories that have been uncovered lately. Not that plagiarism is anything new. We’ve all heard of news reporters who have lifted stories from more talented writers and claimed them as their own. There is a famous YA author who has been accused of ‘borrowing’ passages from lesser known works and incorporating them into her stories with only window dressing changes. I’ve even read about someone ta...

A Midsummer’s Nightmare…
I know that winter is a tough season for most people. I’m finding it tougher as I get older myself, to be honest. I live in a cold house, one that is poorly insulated. During the winter, I frequently huddle at my desk under blankets with hot water bottles tucked in alongside me, typing in fingerless gloves.
But there comes a point each summer in which I look in front of me and see the days lined up ahead in an unending dreary march of time. Months to go before autumn (my favorite time of year)...

Steve Grand: All American Boy–the first openly gay Country Music singer?
I can’t tell you how many times I’ve watched this video.
Steve Grand is the latest internet sensation: the first openly gay country music artist attempting to break into the genre. No label. No recording contract. Just a truckload of talent, looks to die for, and an amazing ability to tell a heartbreaking story in song and video. He’s mortgaged himself to the hilt to produce this video. He’s rolled the dice and bet everything on this one throw.
I downloaded the video and the song. I paid more t...
