The Boys of Summer is a finalist in the 2013 Rainbow Awards!
I’m determined to go to bed early tonight. I was on the road for six hours today (which should have been four, but construction and a lane closure slowed everything to a crawl). I’m not looking forward to going back to work tomorrow–the harness chafes worse after you’ve been out of it for a while.
But I couldn’t go to bed without sharing my news–the finalists for the 2013 Rainbow Awards were announced today, and The Boys of Summer made the list! I am surprised and delighted, to say the least....

Laughter, the company of friends, and the clicking of keys on a keyboard…
I’ve been having a wonderful weekend here with my friends. We’ve made a ridiculous amount of food, we’ve sat around the fire pit outside and talked until late in the evening. We’ve emptied bottles of wine and indulged in chocolate from all over the country. We’ve laughed and made terrible jokes. We’ve watched our favorite television shows on Netflix, and closed down the outdoor patio with our risque conversations and shared with each other about our lives and our hobbies.
This mini-vacation is...

Rest, relaxation, and the power of positive thinking…
I’ve been thinking a lot about positive thinking lately. What it really means, why does it seem to have merit in some cases and not in others. Where are the lines drawn between thinking positively in that ‘pie in the sky’ manner and thinking ‘realistically’ but trapping yourself in a cycle of not-having because you can’t let go of being ‘practical’. There has to be some middle ground. I don’t believe in what I call quantum mysticism, like that ofThe Secret, but I do believe that we have the p...

Raincheck gets a 5 star review and The Blog Hop continues!
I woke up this morning to discover a wonderful 5 star review for my paranormal M/M novella, Raincheck, on the Paranormal Romance Guild! I have to confess, I’ve been thinking more and more about expanding Raincheck–everyone wants to know what happened the morning after the Grand Ball, right? Rodney and David have more of their story left to tell!
But what a nice way to start off the morning! In fact, this is shaping up to be a nice weekend all the way around. The temperatures have dropped this...

Fall into Romance… The Romance Reviews Fall Hop and Giveaway!
Today begins the Fall into Romance Blog Hop on The Romance Reviews, and it made me realize that my favorite season is just about to begin. For years, I’ve jokingly referred to autumn as my “Holy Season”. Give me boots and sweaters over sandals and sundresses any day. I love the cool clear mornings when the air is so fresh it is like biting into a crisp apple. The crunchy sound of leaves underfoot on the sidewalk, the wet earthy smell of the ground, the delicate spines of frost on the grass in...

Authors: Stop comparing yourself to others–only you can tell THIS story…
Work has really been kicking me in the shins lately. You know what I mean. It’s painful, but not debilitating. It’s irritating, but not terminal. I feel bruised and battered by the end of the day, but I can crawl out of bed and stagger back into work the next morning.
It’s been like this for months. My ability to continue dealing with this level of stress is wearing a bit thin. My creative energy is completely drained by this kind of daily workload and I’m not getting much writing done right n...

Why We Need Heroes
I’m a geek at heart, I’ll admit it.
I grew up watching Star Trek, Star Wars and the original Battlestar Galactica. I once won a contest for tickets to a science-fiction convention by answering a Star Trek trivia question on a radio show. I have a Next Gen costume that I made despite the fact I possess no sewing skills whatsoever. That’s what fandom love will do for you.
I graduated to Babylon 5 (which I still say was among the best sci-fi television ever on the air), the X-Files, and Firefly....
