U.S. intends to break International Law & remain in Iraq even if asked to leave

Secretary of State Tillerson announces US occupation of Iraq is permanent.
Tillerson: US Troops Will Stay in Iraq Even if Asked to Leave
Claims War Authorizations Allow US to Stay in Iraq
Testifying to the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, Secretary of State Rex Tillerson revealed that the US presence in Iraq is so permanent at this point that even if Iraq specifically requests the US withdraw and removes permission for them to be there, the US will remain.
Tillerson addressed the question from Sen. Tom Udall (D-NM), who asked whether the US intended to stay in Iraq uninvited like they are in Syria. Tillerson insisted the 2001 and 2002 Authorizations for Use of Military Force (AUMF) gave the US legal authority to stay.
This appears to be an entirely new position for the US government, as the Bush Administration agreed to withdraw from Iraq after being unable to get Iraqi authorization to stay, and absolute legal immunity for US troops…

Corporate media finally acknowledges that nearly half of all cancers are potentially preventable with dietary and lifestyle changes.
By Alex Pietrowski, Waking Times (Thanks to Natural Blaze)
For years it has been a supposed mystery, but it is finally being acknowledged that a primary cause of cancer in the world today is diet. Studies are now showing that obesity plays an enormous role in one’s chances of getting cancer, and the main cause of obesity is the type of foods people eat. It is in large part a lifestyle disease, and the most important relevant lifestyle choice is food.

Who Killed Senator Paul Wellstone?
American Assassination: The Strange Death of Senator Paul Wellstone
by Four Arrows and Jim Fetzer
Vox Pop (2004)
Book Review
American Assassination summarizes the authors’ investigation into the freak airplane crash that killed Minnesota senator Paul Wellstone on October 25, 2002. Wellstone, an outspoken populist, was killed exactly 10 days before a midterm election in which the Bush/Cheney administration invested hundreds of thousands of dollars to defeat him.
Wellstone was the sole senator to oppose the Use of Force Resolution authorizing George W Bush’s invasion of Iraq. In addition to advocating for an independent investigation into 9-11, many believed he was the only Democratic who could beat Bush in the 2004 election.
Numerous anomalies associated with the crash investigation point to an official cover-up:
The FBI, which had no legal jurisdiction, departed for the crash scene before the accident occurred – and subsequently lied about the time they arrived.
The National Transport Safety Board (NTSB) failed to hold a public hearing (which is routine in high profile cases). Their reported also omitted important eyewitness testimony regarding roaring/humming cellphone interference at the precise moment the plane lost control and a flash of fire, followed by an abrupt cessation of engine noise, just prior to the crash.
Wellstone’s and other crash victims’ lungs showed evidence of smoke inhalation (which means they were still in the air – and alive – when the plane caught fire). In other words, the crash didn’t cause the fire, as claimed by the NTSB.
The smoke from the burning fuselage was blue, suggesting a pre-crash electrical fire. If the crash had caused the fuel tanks to explode (as claimed by the NTSB), the smoke would have been black. Neither of the wings, where the fuel tanks were located, caught fire.
The book also includes an excellent summary by late assassination researcher Michael Ruppert of 47 instances of US politicians dying in plane crashes – with six fatal crashes occurring during election campaigns.
There is also an excellent scientific overview of the microwave – aka electromagnetic pulse (EMP) weapons – developed by the Pentagon for use in Iraq. Pulses from these weapons can destroy all electronics within a 1,000 foot range by short circuiting electrical connections. Electronic aircraft navigational equipment is exquisitely sensitive to electromagnetic interference – which is why air passengers are strictly forbidden to use cellphones or laptops during takeoff or landing. Numerous military crashes have been caused by aircraft getting too close to radio transmitters.
Unlike the NTSB, Fetzer and Four Arrows try to come up with an explanation for the crash that explains the simultaneous loss of aircraft control and loss of communication with the tower. Only two possible scenarios are consistent with this evidence – a small incendiary bomb or an EMP weapon that took out the plane’s electronics as it was landing. They find the latter more likely – anyone can purchase a basic EMP weapon on the Internet.

Still without power, some Puerto Ricans are making DIY washing machines — Quartz
Most Puerto Ricans have gone without power for more than a month. Some lucky ones have kept the lights on with expensive—and noisy—diesel generators. The rest are making do without the usual comforts of air conditioning, ice, and washing machines.
But where many see a cumbersome chore, others see opportunity.
Entrepreneurs across the island are Entrepreneurs across the island are bringing back the washboard. In pharmacies and supermarkets, and in car trunks along the sides of roads, you can see them peddling their old-school wares. Some are fabricated in wood, others in composite materials. One version in the town of Guayama, which remains completely off the grid, appealed to patriotic fervor awakened by hurricane Maria. It was emblazoned with the post-Maria slogan “Puerto Rico Se Levanta,” or Puerto Rico Rises. . .

Cooking with Non-Stick Pans? You May Want to Read This

Dupont hid the hazards of PFOA for decades before they were forced to phase it out in 2006. As with asbestos and lead, no level of PFOA is safe.
Pans with a non-stick coating are convenient but new research suggests that the chemical used for the coating is extremely toxic and exposure on any level could prove dangerous to brain health, the reproductive system, and immune system.
The Dangers of Non-Stick Coating
DuPont, the chemical engineering giant, is responsible for the perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA) used to make Teflon coating. Federal regulators linked the chemical to birth defects and cancer, and these regulators also accused DuPont of hiding these hazard reports for decades. This caused an uproar and forced DuPont to phase out production of the chemical in 2006. Regardless, PFOA has already infiltrated millions of homes; resulting in detectable amounts of the compound in the blood of nearly every American. It’s even been found in polar bears in the Arctic.
An Environmental Working Group (EWG) report suggests that there is no safe level of exposure to the chemical…

Dying Malls Increasingly Rely On Taxpayer Handouts For Survival
*
*
Just another symptom of the steady implosion of the US economy. Thanks to austerity cuts, Americans have no money to spend.
America’s dying malls have been a frequent topic of discussion of late as these relics of the 80’s have been forced to convert once valuable high-end retail square footage into grocery stores, libraries and doctor offices just to keep the lights on. Here’s just a small sampling of the recent carnage:
A Third Of All Shopping Malls Are Projected To Close As ‘Space Available’ Signs Go Up All Over America
America’s Desperate Mall Owners Turn To Grocers, Doctors & High Schools To Fill Empty Space
Failing Malls Turn Empty Parking Lots Into Carnivals To Generate Cash
But, as Bloomberg points out today, one other funding source is increasingly emerging as a key financial sponsor in the efforts of commercial REITs to re-purpose their failing assets: taxpayers.
In Brookfield, Wisconsin, for example, the city is using tax-increment financing (TIF), a common tool for municipalities to subsidize development by putting property taxes…

The majority of Britain’s politicians don’t know where money comes from, despite being tasked with deciding how much of it ends up being spent, according to a poll of MPs published today.
Only 15 per cent of MPs surveyed answered correctly when asked a true/false question on whether banks create money when they make loans.

Facebook Faces Class-Action Lawsuit for Trying to Avoid Paying Overtime
A lawsuit filed in a U.S. district court in Illinois alleges that Facebook routinely and knowingly misclassified certain workers as not eligible for overtime compensation. Although it has to be approved by the court, it is proposed as a class action, filed by a former client solutions manager at the company.
Susie Bigger, the former “CSM,” as Facebook reportedly calls these positions, alleges that Facebook engaged in “systematic, companywide wrongful classification” of employees who had no managerial responsibilities or decision-making power as exempt from overtime requirements, thus depriving them of additional pay when they worked more than 40 hours a week. The lawsuit alleges the company violated the Fair Labor Standards Act as well as Illinois’ minimum wage laws. (h/t Ars Technica). . .

What Really Happened to Malaysian Flight MH370?
Goodnight Malaysian 370: The Truth Behind the Loss of Flight 370
by Geoff Taylor and Ewan Wilson
Wilson Aviation Limited (2014)
Book Review
This book, co-authored by a New Zealand pilot and a New Zealand journalist, lays out a precise chronology of the mysterious disappearance of Malaysian flight MH370 on March 8, 2014. Media reports at the time were extremely confusing and contradictory, owing to an initial cover-up by Malaysian authorities. This book goes a long way towards untangling some of this confusion.
According to New Zealand commercial pilot Ewan Wilson, even though the wreckage, black box or cockpit voice recorder of MH370 have never been found, certain facts remain indisputable:
Approximately 40 minutes into the flight, the pilots ceased communicating with air traffic control and deliberately switched off the transponder enabling the aircraft to communicate electronically with air traffic control.
The Malaysian military picked up MH370 at roughly the same time on radar as it deviated from its Beijing flight path and headed back towards Malaysia.
No fighter jets were scrambled, which is standard practice in Malaysia when an a) radar locates an identified aircraft or b) a known aircraft deviates from its scheduled flight path.
Electronic data automatically transmitted from MH370’s engines to Rolls Royce in the UK (as part of routine maintenance) indicated that MH370 continued to fly for a total of seven hours (when it would have run out of fuel.) It also indicated that instead of flying towards Beijing, it turned back and cross the Malaysian peninsular heading towards the Indian Ocean. Because the Malaysian government tried to conceal this fact, the initial search for MH370 wreckage began in the South China Sea and Strait of Malacca. Once the new data was made public, search operations (conducted by Australia, New Zealand and the US) switched to the Indian Ocean.
Evidence that the pilot deliberately deviated from the scheduled flight plan and switched off the transponder suggests MH370 didn’t disappear by accident. Moreover post 9-11 cockpits are impenetrable to passengers or cabin crew, ruling out any possibility hijackers were responsible for these occurrence.
The authors believe the most likely scenario is a successful mass murder/suicide by pilot Zaharie Ahmad Shah, who had recently shown evidence of withdrawn and isolative behavior. They acknowledge, this hypothesis can only be conclusively proven by finding the plane wreckage, black box and cockpit voice recorded.
Since this book’s publication in 2014, small pieces of probable MH370 wreckage have washed up on the coast of Australia, Africa and several Indian Ocean Islands. In addition, the FBI extracted a flight plan similar to that followed by MH370 (before it vanished) on the hard drive of a flight simulator Shah had built at home.

Inadequate Prison Health Care Services Under Scrutiny
A national report from the Pew Charitable Trust is shedding light on the condition of health care services at correctional facilities throughout the nation. Several stories about poor quality of care and negligence have surfaced since the organization released the study on Oct. 18.
In one case, the family of Marques Davis, a 27-year-old deceased inmate at the Hutchinson Correctional Facility, in Wichita, Kansas, is suing the facility’s private health care provider for ignoring symptoms of his brain infection, the Washington Post reported.
Davis, who died on April 13, complained to the medical team that “it feels like something is eating my brain.” They dismissed it, believing that he was faking his symptoms. However, an MRI showed later that he had a fungal infection that spread throughout his swollen brain.
The Pew report unveiled huge disparities in quality of care and the money spent on state prison health systems—which totals $8.1 billion nationwide. At the bottom of the list, Louisiana spent $2,173 per inmate in fiscal year 2015, and California topped the list at $19,796 per inmate in the same fiscal year.
Two days after the Pew study appeared, a story surfaced in the media that a federal judge’s ruling in September that Idaho prison officials failed to enact court ordered improvements to its prison health care system for two years, from 2014 to 2016, according to U.S. News & World Report.
In another instance, AL.com reported on Oct. 20 that lawyers representing Alabama inmates rejected a state plan to increase staffing to fix poor mental health services at state correctional facilities. This is in response to U.S. District Judge Myron Thompson’s ruling in June, which found that mental illness went undiagnosed and untreated. . .
