The sharing of her story opened many doors for Madeleine in ways she never imagined and the invitations started to pour in.

She has taken part in both TV and radio interviews and has been invited to share her story at conferences, events and schools.

She recognises that she was a victim of a crime that left her silent for many years, but has now found her voice and intends to use it. Not just for her, but for so many who can’t find theirs yet.

She is married and lives in Glasgow with her husband, three daughters, her cat, Suki, and dog, Alfie.

"Unbroken" is her first book and tells her story of being gang raped at aged 13 by two American teenagers. It follows her journey of survival, healing, forgiveness, transformation and hope

It’s not every day that I’m invited to see a world premiere of a play, so I was really excited to fly over to Cork for a night to see the stage adaptation of Louise O’Neill’s novel “Asking for it” at The Everyman.

I met Mary and Dola from the Sexual Violence Centre in the foyer who gave me and my friend our tickets and then they introduced me to Louise. She told me Mary had told her I was coming... Read more of this blog post »

Really loved this book at the start, but I lost interest half way through and felt the ending was very rushed and predictable. Really wanted to like it as I loved the idea of it but I became bored

“watch moms pick up, put down, lift, swing, load and carry fairly large loads all the time. We call these loads ‘children.’ Yet, when we get to the gym, we seem to think a woman needs to use very light loads. Like Milo and his calf, perhaps we should start women off with an eight-pound weight and progress upwards as the child grows.”
Dan John, Intervention: Course Corrections for the Athlete and Trainer

“If you didn't remember something happening, was it because it never had happened? Or because you wished it hadn't?”
Jodi Picoult, Plain Truth

“We were kept pure for men, and then broken in by them. And what happened to us in the meantime was completely irrelevant in the pursuit of their pleasure, or their integrity, their masculinity. Were females really valued so little? Would my own daughters face the same fate?”
