Authors-Pad.com is finally up.

After scrutinizing several different web site options, I finally settled on a product I like that allows the site to do what I wanted it to do. What is that you ask? I am glad you asked.

Authors-Pad.com is a site for aspiring and established authors to be able to tell us about their books. It is also a place for readers to provide reviews or simply a place for both to get to know each other. It runs on the Karma system so people will get to vote on the various articles and comments.

Eventually, I hope to have contests where our higher Karma users will get neat little prizes but lets do one thing at a time. Right now, the priority is to get the site launched and build up some participating users.

I look forward to talking to you guys on there. Please let me know what you think of the site.

Thanks.

The Price of Love is officially released

The Price of Love, Book 3 of the Lore of Algoron series is now released and available for purchase.

In the world of Algoron, there is one piece of lore that has withstood the test of time. It is a tragic tale of a dragon, keen on learning the emotions of man.

As providence would have it, an elven woman dies from her wounds at the entrance of his lair, leaving her small child alone in this world. The dragon finds the child, and decides to learn from it. With the help of a kidnapped priestess, he raises the child to adulthood, all the while building a bond he can not explain.

Ultimately, the bond is threatened by the arrival of a strapping young bard and only then does the dragon truly begins to understand the emotion he sought, and the horrible price it exacts.

This tale is still told in the temple of Taliena, the Goddess of Love, to this very day as an example of love and the lengths one will go to hold on to it.

You can get your own copy of The Price of Love, Book 3 of the Lore of Algoron at the following locations:

Starting an IndieGogo Campaign

Hey guys,

I have kicked off an IndieGogo campaign to help market my books when the third one releases on February 14th. You can find out more about it here:
http://igg.me/at/gusgallows/x/5116895

I have included a few perks for contributors:

Contribute $25 and receive a signed thank you note and a shout-out on twitter, so make sure to send me your twitter name.

Contribute $100 or more and receive all three books, signed by me, and a shout-out on twitter, so make sure to send me your twitter name.

I will be using the money to buy several hundred copies of the books to send off to my partners at Soul Star Multimedia so they can market them at Comic Con in April and anywhere else they go. I would also use part of it to offset their booth costs at the convention.

Even if you can't contribute financially, you can help by spreading the word through you various social media outlets. There is also some sharing functionality built into IndieGogo which can help you get the word out.

Any help you guys can offer would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks and keep on reading,

Gus Gallows

Web Site is Finally current

Hey guys,

I know it has been a long time coming, but I finally have my website up to date to include a working contact-us form. I had no idea that the old one wasn't working. I am not sure when it quit, but I just want you guys to know that I was not deliberately ignoring anyone's comments. Please feel free to leave a comment whenever you want. I want to stay close to my readers.

I also updated the links to the books in my Gus' Picks page to reflect the current version of The Price of Honor. I will update it again once The Price of Dignity goes live on Amazon and then again when The Price of Love is released.

I also added a link to where you can get pretty much any e-Reader version through Smashwords.com. I added them to the DSL Novel by Gus Gallows pages.

My intent is to be a better steward of my site so you guys can be kept up to date as much as possible.

On a side note, I am still seeking reviewers, so if you are interested, send me a request via the now working Contact-Us page and I will email you a link with a discount code so you can get the e-Reader version for free. All I ask is that you do not give the codes to anyone else and that you write me a positive review on Amazon and anywhere else you think would be appropriate (goodreads, smashwords, your blog, whatever) and you send me a link to the review so I can post it on my site.

Thanks for everyone's patience. I hope you really enjoy the series. I am hoping to start my next series of books in the coming months. More on that later.

For now, keep on reading.

The Price Of Honor, Book 1 of the Lore of Algoron

Good day everyone,

It would appear that my book, The Price of Honor, book 1 of the Lore of Algoron, released early. It was slated for September 6th, but it showed up in Amazon.com today. You can find it at the following URL:

http://www.amazon.com/The-Price-Honor-Algoron-Volume/dp/149210499X/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1377543772&sr=8-1&keywords=the+price+of+honor+gus+gallows

I was surprised by the early release but not upset in the least. I am glad to finally see it in print as a fully edited and published edition. Now I can focus on book 2, the Price of Dignity, so we can get it in print. It also means I can shift focus to book 3 which I am still writing.

Speaking of book 3, it had some interesting developments this week. One of the players of a character paramount to the story got in touch with me out of the blue and I was able to extract a lot of information which I had forgotten from her. This is good news because I was starting to get away from my goal to include as many actual player characters from the game as I could. It also helps me bring a more dynamic and interesting character into play which I was struggling with find a fit for. Now the character will be integral to the story.

So, long story short, it was a pretty good weekend.

As for my Kickstarter project, it isn't doing so well. As of  this writing, it has $126 pledged, which I am stoked about, but that is well short of the $10,000 we are trying to raise for the marketing campaign. As of this writing, we have 16 days left, so hopefully, there is a spike in interest. Please pass it along to your friends and colleagues.

http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/gusgallows/a-dark-and-shattered-lands-novel

On to other news, I am looking for others to start writing novels based on the world of Algoron, from the Dark and Shattered Lands game. If you are up for it, I would be glad to work with you on it and if we can get it done, maybe even help you get it published with my publisher. The book would need to be at least 50,000 words, it could be a compilation of short stories, or a full series of novels. I really want to open this world we created up to the world we actually live in. My three stories are such a small part of Algoron and I would love it if the people who still play in it, would share their own stories.

I own a web site which I haven't developed yet called Authors-pad.com. I am considering making it a story site for folks to relay stories for all to read and we could set up a section just for DSL. What do you think about that? Let me know and please, let me know what you think of my book.

Have a great day, and if real life has dictated that you shouldn't have a great day, then at least get your character to that next level. :)

-Gus

Kickstarter campaign underway

Hello everyone,

I am please to announce that my Kickstarter campaign when active this morning. I am hoping to raise enough money to truly market my soon to be newly re-released book, The Price of Honor, book 1 of the Lore of Algoron.

This 3rd edition version is fully edited and cleaned up by my new publisher, Soul Star Publishing, and it looks really good. My daughter did an excellent job on the new cover as well. It is a new beginning, and if this campaign works out, I will have what I need to truly get it out there.

If you want to see the project, or better yet, if you would like to contribute any amount to it, check out the following URL:

As always, I look forward to hearing from you guys.

The Price Of Honor has a release date

The edits are done and the newly published version (3rd edition) of The Price of Honor, book 1 of the Lore of Algoron series, is set to release on September 9th, 2013. I am excited about this because this time, the book has actually been scrutinized by a pretty darn good editing staff at Soul Star Publishing. It looks good and should appease the grammar police out there. ;) I'll post a link to it when its official.

In other news, The Price of Dignity is now undergoing the same degree of scrutiny. I am hoping that I can get it released some time in October. More on that later.

Finally, I will be kicking off a kickstarter.com project to raise funding for what I hope will be a very aggressive marketing campaign. You can preview it at the following url:

http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/gusgallows/964181591?token=315da067

Please check it out and let me know what you think. I need to film an intro video and then it will be read to launch. Wish me luck.

Another way to pay it forward

Hey guys,

I just wanted to drop a quick note about a site I found today that I absolutely love the concept of. It is called Kickstarter and it is there to do one thing: raise funds for creative projects. If you want to help out an author, or a band, or anyone else creative, all they have to do is create a project on the site, and anyone who wants to contribute can do that.

One of the neat things about it is, many of the folks raising money for their projects will include perks to contributors at different contribution levels. Like today, I contributed to an author wanting to raise money to create a interactive experience for his novels. The author's name is Michael Reed McLaughlin and the project is based on his trilogy, The Hero Sagas. I did a $10 contribution, as I can afford that right now (contributions can be as low as $1), so in return, once the project has met it's dollar goal, I will get a personalized Thank you post card, signed by the author, and a social media shout out. Had I contributed more, I could have gotten even more perks all the way up to a hand crafted sword. Pretty sweet, no? You do not have to accept a perk though. There is always the option to contribute without reward. It is your option and there is no shame in accepting or not.

Anyway, I am excited to find this site and just wanted to share it with you. I will probably be starting a few projects on there to help get my books to market, so keep an eye out for me. My profile on the site is: http://www.kickstarter.com/profile/gusgallows

If you want to also contribute to Michael's project you can find a link in my profile which will take you to it. His project funding end date is August 1, 2013. If his fund goal is not met by then, no money will be collected, so there is no risk.

Being an author, I love the idea of supporting other authors who's dreams so closely mimic my own. I feel this is a good opportunity to pay it forward for all the kindness that has been shown me over the years as I develop my craft. Hopefully, authors, readers, an artists of all things creative will see the value in this service and will join me in helping make some dreams come true.

Going to go for now. I look forward to any discussions around this topic.
