Eric Schumacher was born in Los Angeles in 1968. He is the author of multiple bestselling historical fiction novels and one novella, all set in the Viking Age.

Schumacher's fascination with Vikings and medieval history began at a young age, though exactly why is not clear. While Los Angeles has its own unique history, there are no ancient monasteries or Viking burial sites or hidden hoards buried in fields. Still, from the earliest age, he was drawn to books about Viking kings and warlords and was fascinated by their stories and the turbulent times in which they lived.

Schumacher now resides in Santa Barbara with his wife and two children.

Kievan Rus' and the Vikings

In the late 900s, the future king of Norway, Olaf Tryggvason, is driven from his home by the treachery of his half-cousin, who rules the land. His flight takes him across the world of the Vikings, placing him in some of the most colorful events and places of that time. The second part of Olaf’s story is told in my latest novel Sigurd’s Swords, which finds Olaf in the historical kingdom of Kievan R

“We are saying that women -- as a sex -- are not more sinful than men. Women are not more deceivable than men. Women are not less intelligent than men. Women are not more prone to error than men. Women are not more dangerous than men. Women are not more arrogant or domineering than men. Women are not to be viewed with more suspicion than men. All women are born into sin, unrighteous by both nature and choice -- as are all men.”
