A sad moment in our family's history in which my grandmother's defense was a temporary insanity plea, one of the first in the nation during World War II. A lot of news stories were written about it, and the speculation around what motivated the incident continues.

On a lighter note (maybe), the hauntings that occurred at my father's old home are also interesting. (less)

Persona Cracked: Brian Asman

Persona Cracked is a series that explores the intersection of artists, their work, and social media. My next guest, Brian Asman , is a writer, actor, director, and producer whose stories often blur the line between horror and humor. He is author of five novels, including the self-published sensation, Man, Fuck This House , recently acquired by Blackstone and option

"Hilarious!
Bob's Pest Control reminds me of a Rick & Morty episode the way it accelerates from nutty to "everything is f***ed here comes the apocalypse" in a matter of seconds, with insane characters talking calmly in the foreground!

Jay is a talented writer. Love his short stories. This ran a little slow for my taste, but a promising debut overall involving love and a coffee shop. Always, I look forward to reading more of his work.

Quick, snappy creature feature

An enjoyable tale into an Alaskan wilderness involving good and bad creatures of myth. Excellent pace and believable characters. Fun read.

The two novelettes in this book were a pleasure to read.

I especially enjoyed the first, Vampire of the Midnight Sun. Priscilla takes the unlikely scenario of two best friends, one of them a suspected vampire, and sets them off on a river rafting tri

“Living in Venice, it’s hard to determine the real parody of inhumanity. On the one hand, there are the homeless hordes, a teaming mass of virtual zombies swelling the streets whose daily business amounts to ruffling through trash, pissing on corners and chasing pets. On the other hand, there is the endless stream of bourgeois stiffs coming and going from home, restaurants and shops. They are zombies in their own right who pretend the homeless don’t exist.”
Ryan Hyatt, Stay Younger Longer

“The truth is no one can be fully protected. Safety is an illusion. There is no safety. Just downtime between tragedies.”
S.A. Cosby, My Darkest Prayer

“Trust your heart if the seas catch fire, live by love though the stars walk backward.”
E.E. Cummings

“To the question, 'What is God?' and 'What is man?' the answer is that the soul, conscious of its limited existence, is 'man', and the soul reflected by the vision of the unlimited, is 'God'. In plain words man's self-consciousness is man, and man's consciousness of his highest ideal is God.”
