Anne Borrowdale is an award-winning author based in Oxford UK. Her first three non-fiction books challenged Christian attitudes to women's work, relationships between the sexes, and the family. After meeting Susan Howatch when short-listed for a religious book prize and learning that Howatch had no plans to write about female clergy, Anne went off and did it herself. This resulted in the three well-received novels of the Leathwell trilogy. Anne drew on her passion for ping-pong in her next novel, Doubles, but is back to challenging religion in her latest, Doubting Stephen.

This blog has been fairly infrequent this year, and it’s time to admit I’m unlikely to write anything during the summer.

That’s because I’m more preoccupied with table tennis activities than I expected, and the quiet moments when I would like to be thinking about life and age are instead filled with wondering what’s next on my to-do list. Principally, I’ve been busy setting up a new, city-wide...

How to Age isn’t new thinking if you’re familiar with writings about ageing, but you can read this short book (120 pages + 20 B & W photographs) in an hour or two, and I recommend you should!

The Detective's Daughter by Lesley Thomson
"Although I found the central theme of the book the murder of Kate Rokesmith intriguing, I found this book rather slow and drawn out. I don't expect a high octane read every time I pick up a book but even when I thought I was near the end there was..." Read more of this review »
