"Cold Blood, Hot Sea" (2016) is a Foreward Review Indie Mystery finalist. Mara witnesses the death of a dear colleague aboard research vessel Intrepid. It's called an accident, but Mara is convinced otherwise. She risks her job and life as she uncovers a scam as deep and dark as the wild sea.

"Demon Spirit, Devi Sea" (May 2017) takes Mara to one of the last temperate rainforests on earth - Haida Gwaii, an archipelago 50 miles off British Columbia. As Ma

The second book in my "Maine Oceanography Mystery" series is in final edits! "Demon Spirit, Devil Sea" is set in Haida Gwaii 50 miles off British Columbia, one of the few intact temperature rainforests on Earth and a spectacular sea kayak destination. As she untangles a climate change crime, oceanographer Mara Tusconi confronts the Haida Nation’s mistrust of outsiders like her and spiteful spir... Read more of this blog post »

“Many fiction writers have used novels to promote social change. Why couldn’t I? No matter that I had no experience whatsoever writing fiction. I could learn. I decided on mysteries because I love the genre and could envisage a story featuring climate change researchers hounded by climate change doubters.”
