August 2, 2013: Munchkin Pathfinder Dice In China!

Pink Dice Sam and I visited the plastics factory where we had a chance to see many, many games in production. While walking through the tooling department, we ran across two sprues of tests they ran a few months ago when the Munchkin Pathfinder d6 was being designed. Look closely at the photos to catch the goblin head that replaces the Munchkin on this new die design. Yes, we created an entirely new d6 for Munchkin Pathfinder .

Blue Dice Later, after exploring the injection and compression machines, we ran across thousands of Munchkin Pathfinder dice in the inking room. That translucent purple d6 turned out amazing and I loved seeing them work on so many of the dice. If you're at Gen Con make sure to swing by early; we will have a limited number of copies for sale.

Munchkin Pathfinder Dice It's now time for the visit to the primary printing and assembly factory. We get to check out thousands of Ogres preparing for their long journey to America. And no, I cannot bring your copy back with me; it won't fit in the overhead compartment!

July 31, 2013: Twice The Conventions, Twice The Fun!

It's the height (and heat) of summer, and that means it's heavy convention season. In fact, there are TWO great conventions this weekend – both in the Lone Star State!

Houston hosts SpaceCityCon, with lots of nifty media guests and a healthy gaming space (heh heh) as well. Closer to home – in fact, right here in Austin! – is Board Game Bash, now in its third year of giving central Texas gamers a 24-hour full-weekend gaming experience.

SJ Games will, of course, have staff at both events, ready to show off Munchkin and Castellan and lots of other games. We hope to see you there! . . . or here!

July 30, 2013: Hello, Hong Kong!

Munchkin Pathfinder Sam and I are in Hong Kong for, as I write this, three more hours . . . and then we head into China for a look at the Ogre Designer's Edition in assembly. Yesterday we spent time in the Hong Kong office reviewing the first production copy of the game and everything is looking fantastic; find pics and details in this Kickstarter update. I'm very happy with how the game has turned out and I cannot explain how good it feels to know that we're reaching the finish line.

Hong Kong During our visit yesterday we also got a very close look at Munchkin Pathfinder and confirmed that we will have copies for sale at Gen Con in August. Hurray! So between Munchkin Pathfinder at the booth and Munchkin Tricky Treats at the official Munchkin Tavern (not to mention the exclusive Munchkin Tavern goodies) there will be plenty of new Munchkin fun for all!

And on the "I'm a giant geek!" front, I've managed to get a little time to shop for toys and even introduced Sam and David to some of the fun toy shops in Hong Kong. As always, my www.battlegrip.com site is packed with photos and random nonsense for the toy fans who want to know more.

With luck I'll have a strong enough net connection that my next report will be after we see the factory in China. And maybe I won't be quite as tired once I get a solid night of sleep in the incredible hotel we stay in when we're in China; it may very well be the nicest hotel I've stayed at anywhere in the world!

Warehouse 23 News: With Great Power Comes Great Stories.

Hermetic magi grow powerful in their age.

They can defeat mundane armies single-handed, challenge spirits of fire in their lair, and drive the servants of Hell from their strongholds.

No place in Mythic Europe is too distant, and no barrier can keep them out.

Why, then, would magi stay closeted in their laboratories?

When your magi need something more than another vis hunt to motivate them, Tales of Power has the answer.

July 28, 2013: Ogres Of Unusual Size

[Image]Joseph Bloch, known to the Secret Masters as Man in Black #[REDACTED], has reported in about his experiences at DexCon.

He ran an Ogre game using "macrotures" and got to hang out with Steve (the original Secret Master) in a marathon event where Steve played twelve simultaneous games of Ogre .

I imagine that when you're a Secret Master, you can play an infinite number of Ogre games at the same time.

July 26, 2013: T.A.B.L.E. Is Happening!

The T.A.B.L.E. Kickstarter project has hit its $10K goal, so there will definitely be a game convention near Dallas on March 29 and 30 of next year . . . a convention that aims to draw in non-gamers!

I just recorded a little video for them. It will burn your eyes out, but other than that, no problem. They've still got about a day to go, so if you think you might like to come (or if you just like the idea) - support them!

Warehouse 23 News: Winter Is Coming...

All the hunters boasted of their prowess, but you boasted the loudest.

Now you have to deliver . . .

In Nanuk every hunter boasts about how much he can hunt and how long he can stay out, but every boast must be greater than the last.

Until one hunter refuses to raise the bid, saying "You're doomed!" Then the hunt begins.

Do you have the courage to face Nanuk, the great polar bear?

July 27, 2013: Off To China!

I'm leaving early Saturday morning for Hong Kong, landing there nearly 24 hours later (it's a brutal trip!). I've been working on Ogre since Steve hired me, and I can't wait to be one of the first people to see the final game as it's being printed and assembled. It's hard to believe it's really happening!

Phil is threatening to introduce me to all kinds of new, exotic food, and while I think he's kidding about some of them, I guess I'll find out soon enough!

Thanks to Steve, Phil, and to our partners at Grand Prix International for this great opportunity. Maybe we can make this an annual trip!

With the Paneuropean Heavy Infantry !

In cities and forests where the terrain can slow down armor, the infantry does its best work.
