October 18, 2013: Crowdfunding Spotlight: ARTCADE

Gamers of a certain age tend to have a fondness for old arcade machines. We grew up with them; it's where we went to play the hottest new games and to pit our skills against those of our friends and rivals. There was something about the smell, the sounds, the sights – it all spoke to our lizard-brains in a primal way to tell us this is where you belong. The days of a video arcade in every town are gone, but the nostalgia remains.



That's where something like ARTCADE comes in. It may not have the sounds and the smell of the arcade, but you can relive some of those good old days by enjoying classic video game cabinet art in a gorgeous hard-bound book. We plan to back it; you should too!

SPIEL in Essen, Germany – the focal point of European gaming as we know it – will open its doors soon. This year, you can find us at our own booth in Hall 2, Booth #2-C118, where we will bring illumination in numerous ways to the 150,000 gamers attending. You can play Castellan , our first game ever that comes with rules in five languages. Or try Chupacabra , our brand new dice game – we've flown in advance copies for SPIEL. You can also enjoy a mix of our best games, both new and classic.



Right at our island booth the friendly folks from Tellurian Games will happily sell you all kinds of SJ Games items, including Munchkin Pathfinder , Munchkin Gobsmacked! , Chupacabra , both Castellan editions, and a wide range of Warehouse 23 Exclusives we sent over the ocean for the show. October 16, 2013: The Data Could Be Called Pain

Scientists at Harvard have figured out how to create  cybernetic flesh . That is, they can weave a lattice of transistors into living tissue, which is a stepping stone to things like heart cells that can transmit data about your heart to a computer and a smartphone app that releases adrenaline or endorphins into your system. They think they might even be able to grow entire cybernetic human organs, not for use in transplants but for testing potentially harmful drugs on without harming any people or animals. I'm telling you, it's only a matter of time before we start vat-growing replicants!

We've got Central covered here in our Logistics Facility in Austin, but did you know that some devoted fans on the East and West Coasts are running their own Ogre Launch Parties? It's true!
