July 18, 2014: Off To San Diego For Comic-Con, USAopoly, And Secret Meetings!

Can you believe that it's already July? It feels like only yesterday we were announcing Munchkin Adventure Time at the Munchkin Tavern, and now Andrew and I are off to visit the USAopoly team to work on the 2015 Munchkin plans. What are the plans? It's way too early for us to share details, but I can safely say that unheard-of levels of awesomeness are coming. BIG FUN IN THE WORKS!



After our time at USAopoly we're then off to San Diego Comic-Con for . . . you guessed it, more meetings! Over the last several years my SDCC experience has been going to meeting after meeting, but when great things like Munchkin toys from Funko, Munchkin comic books from Boom, and Munchkin T-shirts from Mighty Fine are the results of those meetings I say: Bring me more meetings! 



If you're at SDCC be sure to swing by booth 4423 where we should have early copies of Munchkin Princesses for all of you Munchkin fans who need something pink and pretty in your games.

We announced at the Origins 2014 Munchkin Tavern that we'd partnered with Funko to make Munchkin toys; well, they've announced that their Spyke figure is coming in November! We've now got a picture of it, and we're super excited about how cool it looks.

July 13, 2014: A Visit To Geek Chic

Last month, during a visit to the Funko offices to discuss the upcoming Munchkin toys (announced here), I stopped by and visited our friends at Geek Chic. For those two or three of you who have never heard of Geek Chic before, I give you this quick description of thier business:



Geek Chic makes awesome furniture for gamers.
Seriously, I'm talking AWE-SOME furniture. I own two pieces – a beautiful Hoplite coffee table and a fully-customized and over-sized Game Master Valet that I use as my rolling office at home – and have been planning to buy one of the tables to use in the kitchen (just as soon as I recover from the last home makeover that was inspired by buying the two pieces of furniture I now own).



While at the Geek Chic offices and factory I was given a tour of the operation and was impressed; I've been inside furniture factories before, but this was more like visiting an artist's workshop than a simple factory. Everywhere we went there were experimentations in woodworking, prototypes, and surprises. AND the entire time I was there all I could keep thinking was:



"Geek Chic needs to manufacture furniture and gaming supplies for Munchkin."

July 12, 2014: RTX 2014 Recap

This was my first major event since starting at SJ Games and, man, was it a whirlwind of fun, too!



Here are some highlights:



Oh, my, Glob! Andrew Hackard plays Munchkin Adventure Time with RTX attendees.

 



Hipster Dice Man stopped by, but you probably never heard of him . . .

 



And, the White House came by to say hello.

 



I uploaded more pictures from RTX 2014 to our Flickr account.



I also caught a glimpse at the dance party with Deadmau5, the Melrose Umbrella Co., and Halo.







I met lots of long-time board gaming fans, and introduced several new ones to SJ Games! Overall, it was an exciting adventure in our hometown of Austin, TX.

July 7, 2014: Munchkin Stained Glass

Longer ago than it is seemly to admit, Pierre Schwan from Pegasus (the folks who make our German translations) made us this nice piece of stained glass to commemmorate Munchkin's 10th Anniversary. It's beautiful, and the gesture is deeply moving, and we're sorry it has taken us so long to acknowledge it; we had to track down the designer first so we could thank him properly, by name.
