Sorry it has taken me so long to answer. I was just finishing my latest book: An African in Imperial London: The Indomitable Life of A.B.C. Merriman-Labor.
Merriman-Labor is a forgotten pioneer of African literature, and the hardest thing about writing his biography was not knowing how the story would end! When I began my research little was known about his life. It has been a joy and a challenge to do this work. What about you? What is the hardest thing about writing for you?(less)

I loved this book. Ignore the sensational title. This is really a social history of five Victorian women. Rubenhold pays scant attention to Jack the Ripper give no gory descriptions of the murders. Instead, this is a beautifully written, detailed his ...more

Truth: The Jack Reacher novels are my guilty pleasure. I appreciate Child’s spare prose and especially like it when Reacher collaborates with others to solve the mystery. Not a big fan of the violence/fight scenes.
