I'm a big fan of Jim Butcher's Dresden Files series, which is dark, but still has humorous elements and a swashbuckling style that I really gravitate to. I wanted to mix and play around with elements of traditional science fiction (aliens and technology) and fantasy (demons and "magical" abilities). I also wanted to reach out to a broader reader base by including some more adult themes and speak to an audience that enjoys darker entertainment such as Game of Thrones and The Walking Dead.

The first book, The Devil You Know, took me longer to write than I was hoping, but it's also about twice as long as my previous works, so hopefully it was worth the wait!(less)

I didn't receive a notice from GoodReads of a pending question and hadn't checked this area in a long time— obviously!

I actually just released a new book titled The Devil You Know in serial form as well as a novel. You can read the first episode for free most anywhere to see if it's something you'd enjoy as well. It is intended for a more mature audience than my previous work (language and violence), but with a similar sense of adventure I like to incorporate in everything I write.

Thank you so much for the question!(less)

DC’s Kryptonite is Superman

I went to see Justice League yesterday and, while it was better than most of the DC movies— admittedly not a high bar, it still fell flat in comparison to what Marvel has been producing.

I’ve been considering the whys and wherefores of DC’s continued failings on the cinematic front and have come to the conclusion that the root of the problem goes much deeper than the people involved in producing th

“It was one of those moments that would have had dramatic music if my life were a movie, but instead I got a radio jingle for some kind of submarine sandwich place blaring over the store's ambient stereo. The movie ofmy life must be really low-budget.”

You as well! It's going, I'm about 40k into my current WIP. Hope to have the first draft finished in a couple of weeks, then on to edits!

Jay Bell Thanks for the friend invite! I agree, Chalker had some themes he was obsessed with. Especially shape shifting or gaining a new body by some means or another. He seemed to work that into almost every series.
