Snippet Saturday – Why can’t we be friends?
The make up scene! Is there nothing better than a good make up?
Claire was stalling. She’d shuffled the same papers over and over for the last thirty minutes. Dropping them back on her desk, she stared at the phone and dared it to ring. It wasn’t that she didn’t want to go home and face Ryan—she did—but the fear of what would happen when she saw him held her in the office until after five. There was nothing left to do but go home. Why was it she never behaved normally where Ryan was concerned?
With a sigh, Claire straightened the pile on her desk and reached down for her purse. The sound of her door opening signaled the arrival of the cleaners.
“Won’t be a second, and I’ll be out of your hair.”
“I hope not.”
Startled, Claire jerked upright and bashed her head on the edge of her desk. “Ouch.” Rubbing the sore spot, she turned to face the man who’d just scared the life out of her. “Ryan.” His name whispered across her lips.
“Hello, Claire.”
Claire stared at Ryan. She soaked in the sight of him—the smell. God, she’d missed his scent. Missed seeing him every day. He leaned against the closed door, his body hidden from view by the jeans and shirt he wore. Claire wanted to tear every scrap of fabric off him and feast her eyes on all those muscles she knew lay beneath. Her body pulsed to life. Blood heated and swished through her veins to flood delicate tissue with a pounding beat that drove her a step closer.
“You’re here.” The stupidity of her words wasn’t lost on her, but she didn’t care as long as he didn’t leave.
“You wanted to talk.”
Claire took a deep breath and another step. “I’m sorry.”
“For what?”
He wasn’t going to make this easy, but then she didn’t really deserve easy. “For not trusting in us.”
Ryan’s eyes widened, and he pushed off the door. “What didn’t you trust about us?”
“What I was feeling. What you were feeling.”
He took a step. “And what was it we were feeling, Claire?”
She swallowed over the lump in her throat. Her mouth dry and her hands shaking she moved closer. “Love. I love you, Ryan.” Claire couldn’t believe how easily those words came. It was the first time she’d voiced them out loud, and the sound of them on her tongue made her smile.
Ryan closed his eyes. His nostrils flared as he sucked in a breath. He stood still, and Claire’s breath caught in her chest. Would he reject her?
He opened his eyes and held out his hand. “Come here.”
Claire launched herself at him, spanning the distance between them in less than a second. She clung to him like a burr. Arms and legs wrapped around him, she buried her face in his neck and breathed deep. “I missed you so much.”
“Missed you, too.” He squeezed her tighter. “I don’t ever want to be apart for that long again.”
“Me either.”
“Good. Now do I get all of you?”
Claire pulled her head back to look at him. “What do you mean?”
“I want it all, Claire. Body, heart, and soul, remember?”
She nodded.
“Yes, you remember or yes I get all of you?”
“Both. But it goes both ways. I want all of you, too.”
“Oh, Claire, you’ve had me from the second I saw you walk out your door.”

Slowly she rotated a full three hundred-sixty degree turn.
“Where’s the house?” Her whispered words the only sound in the silence of the snowfall.

Snippet Saturday – Shame, shame shame.
Today’s snippet is from Doing Logan. Meredith’s ex really has no shame.
Logan Foster was a man of action. If he wanted something, he went after it. Simple. Except for one thing. Meredith Wainright. Where she was concerned, his courage disappeared completely. For over twenty years she’d had him tied in knots and unable to be his usual assertive self. He’d be putty in her hands if she ever decided to touch him. His cock throbbed, he’d grown hard from the moment she arrived and the thought of her hands wrapped around his length had him aching with need.
Watching her from across the room, Logan couldn’t help but feel pride in the way she held her head high. He’d been pissed off at their host when he’d discovered the man had invited Dirk and his new trophy wife to the party. He doubted Meredith had known and when their hostess had dragged her husband off to a corner for a little private discussion, Logan could only conclude that he’d also neglected to tell his wife the weasel was coming. He wasn’t sure who he wanted to punch more. Their host or Dirk for putting Meredith in such a difficult position.
The man had barely waited for the ink to dry on their divorce and now he was parading the new Mrs. Wainright under the nose of the one he’d spent years betraying. Logan could kick himself for never telling Meredith what he knew about Dirk’s indiscretions. His only excuse was the fact he’d known it would hurt her and the last thing he ever wanted to inflict on Meredith was pain. He’d been a coward. The thought that she might shoot the messenger had stopped him from doing what was right by the woman he’d been in love with for most of his life.
He sighed. Nothing else, no one else, had the power to bring him to his knees like Meredith. They’d grown up together. He’d even been the idiot to introduce her to her ex-husband. And hadn’t he rued that day for most of his adult life. Why Logan had never tried to cross the line of friend to lover with Meredith in their long history was beyond him. The woman just scrambled his brains.
She stood talking to their hostess, the two of them smiling and laughing as though there was nothing wrong with Dirk and Barbie being here. Logan had to hand it to her, she had every right to be angry and upset but instead she acted like she didn’t know they existed. If he wasn’t mistaken, Meredith’s lack of reaction was beginning to get up the new Mrs. Wainright’s nose.
Sure enough, Barbie made her way over to where Meredith stood. He quickly glanced at Dirk to see the other man wearing an amused smirk. Logan had a bad feeling in the pit of his stomach and before he thought about it, he headed toward Meredith. In seconds he was by her side but he need not have rushed, she had it all under control.
“I don’t know why you have to be such a bitch. I won Dirk and there’s nothing you can do about it so leave us alone.” Barbie’s shrill voice was a little too loud.
“I’m not sure why you think you won. Dirk isn’t a prize catch. In fact, I think he’s on par with the ones fishermen throw back.” Meredith turned to face him, a genuine smile on her lips unlike the fake one she’d just had plastered to her face. “Logan.”
She enveloped him in a hug, her scent and warmth surrounding him. He couldn’t help it, he wrapped his arms around her and pulled her body flush against his. The erection confined in his pants pulsed at the contact of her soft curves to his hard muscles. He breathed in deep and the smell of her filled his lungs—teased his senses. They held on a little too long, but Logan couldn’t bring himself to care what others might think.
With a final squeeze, she let go and stepped back. The emotions swirling in her brown eyes made his breath catch and his heart skip a beat. All too quickly she blinked and the look was gone but he could swear he’d seen arousal mixed with fear and determination. Logan also saw the fine tremor in her smile as she turned back to their hostess. In a protective instinct he couldn’t curb, he placed his hand on her lower back.
“No one told me you two were an item.”
The angry words came from Logan’s left. Although Meredith didn’t visibly move, he felt her spine stiffen beneath his fingers as he turned to find Dirk had joined them.
“I’m not sure that it’s any of your business, Dirk,” Logan said through gritted teeth.
As usual, the man proved to be the ass he was and ignored the warning in Logan’s voice.
“Of course it’s my business. She’s my wife.”
The gasp from Barbie had heads turning all around them. At first Logan thought Meredith was going to cry, but then he realized she was trying very hard not to laugh. He was more than glad she saw the funny side of it because he would have had to punch Dirk if he’d brought her to tears in front of everyone. Before anyone else uttered a word Barbie’s hand connected with Dirk’s cheek and as all conversation stopped the slap echoed off the walls, followed by the click-clack of stiletto heels on tile as Barbie stormed from the room.
“I do believe there’s a piece of paper and a second wife who might argue that statement, Dirk.” Their hostess’s voice rang with censure. “That would be the wife who just stormed out of here. I think you better go find her and take her home.”
The rest of Dirk’s face turned as red as the handprint gracing one cheek. Dirk aimed his angry gaze at Meredith. “This isn’t over.” He spun on his heel and followed Barbie’s path.

Six Sentence Sunday – Coyote Wild Pt2 – #sixsunday
Welcome sixers!
Rowan’s stool scraped along the floor and El’s nerves. She sat in stunned silence, unable to move or think past what had just happened. Why hadn’t she protested? Had the man scrambled her brain so much with one orgasm? Sure it had been mind-blowing, the best she’d ever had, but she’d never allowed anyone to order her around before. Why start now?

Snippet Saturday – It’s raining men!
Don’t you just have that song playing in your head now?
I guess this weeks theme calls for a snippet with more than one man. Enjoy.
Miki was so engrossed in the sexy encounter taking place across the room that the noise of the party faded to nothing. Try as she might, she couldn’t pull her gaze from the unintentional tableau. Not until her view was blocked. Two guys stepped in front of her, caging her against the wall.
“If it isn’t little Mikaila Drummond.” The deep voice skittered over her skin and she shivered as goose bumps broke out in its wake.
“Yeah, but she isn’t so little anymore.” The second voice was just as deep but slightly rougher. Both conjured images of late nights, tangled sheets and sweaty bodies.
Jeez, of all the times for her libido to wake up.
Mikaila stared at the chest before her. The tight black shirt clung to the muscles concealed beneath like a second skin. Her hands tingled with the urge to reach up and touch, lay her palms flat against that hard surface. She raised her gaze. Slowly. Each new inch she saw made her mouth drier. Oh man. Smooth tan skin took up were black cloth stopped and broad shoulders stretched past her peripheral vision. Miki swallowed. Blood rushed through her veins as her heart sped up. Heat radiated out from the two bodies now crowded around her, sending her temperature higher.
Arousal burst out and flooded every part of her. Need and desire that had been missing in recent years were set free in an explosion of tingling sensation. Miki took a breath, tried to slow her pulse but only succeeded in filling her nostrils with the scent of hot male flesh. Her body softened, her knees shook and she struggled to form a coherent thought.
“I think seeing us has rendered her speechless. That’s something I never thought would happen.”
A memory niggled at her mind, but Miki couldn’t place the voice and she still hadn’t managed to look at either of their faces. Her gaze had snagged on those amazing shoulders and gone no farther.
Masculine laughter that vibrated along every nerve had Miki’s insides clenching. Jeez, could she be any more affected? A shiver skittered down her spine when Mr. Black-shirt placed two fingers under her chin and tilted her head up. She met a pair of startlingly blue eyes. Filled with mischief and a spark of heat, they reminded her of summer. That illusive niggle of memory flitted across her mind but refused to solidified.
“Are we that forgettable, Miki?” He feigned a hurt look that made Miki want to giggle. “Surely not.”
Both men stepped closer, their warm bodies pressing into her. Mikaila turned her head to look at the second man. Green eyes sparkled, the cool colour calming, but nothing could hush the gasp that left her throat or soothe the shock blooming inside her when she finally placed her companions.
Grant Rogers and Dayne Pearce.
Oh crap. Her biggest teenage crush came back to slap her in the face. And she did mean crush. Singular. The boys had always made her feel outrageous things when they were in high school, but she’d never acted on any of her feelings because she couldn’t pick one over the other. And then the summer they’d all turned eighteen she’d discovered the one thing to make her keep her distance above all else. They didn’t want her to pick just one of them. As much as the idea of being with both of them thrilled and intrigued, it scared the pants off her more, and she’d walked away. Fast.
Miki closed her eyes and fought to pull herself together. She wouldn’t allow those old emotions to tempt her. Wouldn’t let herself fall for their charms no matter how appealing they were or how much she’d regretted not taking the chance when she’d had no real clue what it was they offered.
“The penny drops.” Warm air filled her ear and brushed her neck as Dayne spoke.
“I think you’re right, Dayne.” The fingers under her chin trailed up to trace her lips, a light brush of flesh that sent sensations flooding through her. “Aren’t you going to say hello, Miki?”
