Butterfly Swords Review Round-Up
Advance reviews are always coming out and, I confess, I hungrily search for them. I'm weak…
I never know whether to respond or not, but I liked Stacia Kane's take on it. Good or bad, acknowledge the review and thank them for their time. It does take a lot of time and effort to read through the book and then to put your thoughts together coherently.
I'm making it my policy to not comment on reviews other than a nice thank you and I will not show up on any review sites to comment or reply. If...

Release Day, Launch Celebration, Blog Tour & Art!
If I could describe what's inside my head right now, it's like the first trip to Disneyland when you're walking down Main Street and, oh my gosh, everything looks amazing and smells so good and the moment you turn your head there's something new.
And you don't want to miss any of it in case Mom and Dad never take you here again.
I'm a published author, finally…It's my release day for The Taming of Mei Lin! It's also my digital release day for Butterfly Swords. Yes, indeed. You can buy the...

Butterfly Swords BINGO
Originally I was trying to come up with a way where people who've followed the Butterfly Swords and Mei Lin Blog Tour could enter the Launch Celebration drawings. Following and tracking all commenters would have been heinous. And I fully didn't expect people to really want to read THAT many blogs.
So I came up with the idea of a trivia game. You can answer the trivia questions through a handful of the blog appearances. Now, I considered maybe a Blog Tour drinking game might be in order. ...
Jeannie's Blog Tour
I will be embarking on a whirlwind blog tour through the interwebs September through October to let the world know about the back to back releases of The Taming of Mei Lin and Butterfly Swords.
Stop these locations on any of the dates to read all about it. There are some additional giveaways with certain blogs. I'll be filling in the titles and links as the tour progresses.
P.S. For those doing the trivia game, you won't need to go to all of them. The...

But I don't have an e-reader…
The Taming of Mei Lin will be available as a digitally published short story on Wednesday, September 1. I've had more than one person contact me, concerned that they wouldn't be able to read it because they didn't have a reader. I've also had people ask about what format they should use.
I'm thrilled that people want to read the story enough to take a foray into e-reading. Actually, I'm thrilled that people want to read "Mei Lin" period. I hope you enjoy it and it's worth the jump into...

One more week…
Exactly one week from today my first published work, The Taming of Mei Lin, will be released. It's already available for pre-order on Amazon and B&N.com. With advance reviews, people have already started reading which already has my nerves singing. It's a big thing to have your work "live" to the world. I've been waking up too early with butterflies in my stomach. It only makes me imagine what I'll feel like as October nears!
September 1st is the start of my Butterfly Swords Launch...

To Trailer or Not To Trailer
I was asked to teach an online workshop for RWA-PRO on how to make book trailers, which made me think about book trailers and what makes them effective or not. I wanted to have a clear line of sight on the subject before I started advocating that authors spend hours of their time or too much money on producing trailers.
I've heard a lot of opinions from writers (but not purely readers, per se) about book trailers. Most have said that they're cheap, cheesy-looking and ineffective. A book...

Thank you to all that subscribed to the newsletter!
In the wide, open landscape that is the internet, it's hard to know who you're broadcasting to. I like to connect with people on a more intimate level if possible. Though an e-mail is hardly the most personal of measures, this newsletter update is the best way for me to stay in touch with readers and I'll continue to offer promotions that are exclusive to newsletter subscribers. Hopefully, if fortune favors it, I'll be able to meet some of...

The Title of Next Top Historical Model Goes To
….you decide!
For those of you who couldn't make RWA conference, the Dress For Historical Success workshop was, well, as success. We had a full room despite going up at 8:30am on the last day of conference.
Here's my best shot:
The judges say:
Nigel Barker: "I love the pose. You evoked the sense of confidence and grace of the Tang Dynasty, but I'm not in love with the face."
Miss Jay: "Girl, you are closing your eyes again. Get some sleep or something and bring it."
Tyra: "The women of the Tang...
