Lisa Murkowski Opposes Repeal of Obamacare

One of the countless reasons I'm supporting Joe Miller in Alaska? His opponent, pro-abortion senator Lisa Murkowski, opposes repeal of Obamacare because . . . wait for it . . . if it gets repealed then we've done nothing to address healthcare.

Oh, she doesn't like Medicare cuts either.

Did Harry Reid Know The Surge Was A Military Strategy?

Over at Real Clear Politics, Tom Bevan notes something very peculiar about Harry Reid.

Back in 2007, Harry Reid declared Iraq "lost".

On Friday, in a Las Vegas Sun interview, reporter Jon Ralston asked Harry Reid about that comment.

Reid's response?

Reid said his comments were "blown way out of proportion," pointing out Petraeus said the war in Iraq could not be won militarily. Then this: "It wasn't won militantly. It was won politically, diplomatically and with the surge."

But Harry Reid voted ...

One of those rare moments when I'm at a loss for words

Last night I was on John King USA with former White House Communications Director Anita Dunn. We had an exchange that left me, in one of those rare cases, totally at a loss for words.

We were discussing taxes and spending and the Republicans' refusal to go along with unemployment benefits extensions unless spending is cut. The Democrats are attacking the GOP for wanting to extend "tax cuts for the rich" by letting the Bush tax cuts stay in place.

I said I'd be all for extending unemployment b...

Leadership and Loss

"Leaders … just make a realistic assessment. And that assessment becomes very simple: John Oxendine must be destroyed either to get a chance to compete against Karen Handel or for the good of the party."

Down in Georgia, former Congressman Nathan Deal tried very hard to make immigration his issue. Trying his best to spin more than a decade in Washington as a plus in a year where Washington is, on both sides of the aisle, a big negative, Deal tried and failed.

And the immigration darling of...

Full Disclosure

I keep getting emails, so let me put this on the front page of RedState. Here's how I'm voting in Georgia:

Governor: Karen Handel

Secretary of State: Brian Kemp

Attorney General: Max Wood

Insurance Commissioner: Gerry Purcell

Labor Commissioner: Melvin Everson

Agriculture Commissioner: Gary Black

School Superintendent: John Barge

PSC: John Douglas

I had wanted to vote for Doug for Secretary of State, but while I think he's probably the most qualified person to ever run for the job, I have...

Sarah Palin Endorses Karen Handel

Last August we endorsed Karen Handel here at RedState. She's running for Governor of Georgia. We did the same with Nikki Haley.

Last month, Sarah Palin endorsed Nikki Haley.

Today, she's endorsing Karen Handel.

Excellent move, Governor Palin.

Now you need to donate to Karen Handel ASAP. Early voting begins this week in the Georgia Primary and Handel is going to need to get the word out.

Schadenfreude: Robert Gibbs Edition

This is making the rounds today:

There is no doubt there are enough seats at play that could cause Republicans to gain control, there is no doubt about that," Gibbs told NBC's "Meet the Press" talk show when asked whether the Democrats would maintain their majority in the House.

1101090518_400.jpgLess than a year and two months ago, Time Magazine declared Republicans an endangered species.

My, my how things change.

The fact is that there is no such thing as a permanent political majority. The Democrats, in their ...

Benishek For Congress

I haven't written about Dan Benishek's campaign for congress. He's been on the front page several times doing it himself.

Dan Benishek is in a fight against everything we oppose. His "Republican" opponent has sold himself out to the unions and they love him. Between freedom and tyranny, Dan's opponent has routinely sided with the tyranny of unions that want to impose their ways of not doing business on you and me.

This is a Hoffman v. Scozzafava race and it is within a Republican Primary.

We ...
