Where I Am on the Debt Ceiling Fight
We should fight on the debt ceiling, but we are not going to. Frankly, I think Pat Toomey’s push for a “full faith and credit” act has hurt us. It has provided the Democrats an opportunity to spin the media that even the Republicans acknowledge we’ll default if we don’t raise the ceiling, which is why Toomey is doing that. It was too clever by | Read More »

The Loyal Opposition
Congratulations Mr. President on your second inaugural. Saying that makes some of you really enraged. I said the same on twitter shortly after his official swearing in. Several of the replies were embarrassing and atrocious. Some accused the man elected by a majority of Americans of treason. Some accused him of willfully destroying the nation. I believe the President’s policies are destructive and will harm | Read More »

A Nostalgic Age
Whether you read the Republican agenda, or Byron York’s latest about the GOP’s cluelessness on the way forward, or even Robert Costa and Andrew Stiles’ reporting from the Republican retreat, there is a sense that the Republican way forward is unclear. They are unsure. They do not know where to go. They do not know on which ground they should fight. As I’ve written before, | Read More »

The Allure of Moving On
Bend over Republicans, here they come again. Phil Klein is out with a column that I can only assume comes from House Republican Leadership talking points. I can only assume that because House Republican leaders and those close to them have been whispering about this scenario for about a month now to as many Republican strategists, pundits, and others as would listen. They want to | Read More »

ATTN Gun Owners: McConnell & Reid Cutting Deal on the Filibuster
The Senate Republican Leader and Senate Democratic Leader are cutting a deal on the filibuster. You may think it is over and done with, but it is not. Harry Reid, through Senate procedure, has kept the first day of business in the Senate going on. This allows the rules of the Senate to be changed with just a majority vote if he decides to claim | Read More »

The Purpose of the Second Amendment
The President is ready to announce his plans to restrict gun ownership. Most likely, nothing the President proposes will do anything to stop a future Sandy Hook. We know the President understands he is putting Democrats in a terrible spot. We know because he did nothing after the Aurora, CO shooting in the midst of a political campaign. He had to wait so he wouldn’t | Read More »

Aaron Schock Voted for Massive Tax Increases and Doesn’t Want You to Know
Aaron Schock voted for the debt ceiling increase the last time. He also voted for the McConnell tax hike. Aaron Schock, all along, has been fine with raising taxes as long as he could look like he wasn’t. A group in Illinois decided to call him out on it. What did Aaron Schock do? He ran to his lawyer crying and the lawyer wrote a | Read More »

BRAC the Budget
I am in favor of not raising the debt ceiling unless the President and Democrats come up with meaningful spending cuts and reforms. Contrary to a lot of the Democrats’ spin, the federal government will not default if the debt ceiling is not raised. Only if Little Timmy Geithner decides to not pay certain debts will the government default. It is his choice. But I | Read More »

Having to Choose
Louie Giglio is a Christian pastor in Atlanta. For the past two decades he has spent his time getting Christians to focus on a topic dear to me — human trafficking. That has been his calling and focus. It is a worthy cause. More than 17,000 people are smuggled into the United States each year to serve as slaves, often in the sex trade. American | Read More »

The Real Gun Violence Problem
Piers Morgan has been in the news a lot lately with his interviews on gun control. He’s made it his cause of late. He interviewed my friend Larry Pratt a couple of weeks ago and really attacked Larry. The other night he interviewed that conspiracy crank Alex Jones and many conservatives and gun owners have lamented a perception that Alex Jones will become the face | Read More »
