Ivan Alexander Pozo-Illas, also known as "Atrayo" was born in Manhattan, New York City in the early 1970's. Shortly thereafter as an infant he left to live in Miami, Florida for a period of twenty plus years. He currently lives in Sarasota, Florida for nearly the past twenty plus years to date as well.

Ivan "Atrayo", was raised in a Roman Catholic background as is often the case for a Hispanic family of Cuban descent. Growing up he felt very restricted by the dogma of the Catholic Church. Where his ethos of spirituality could not find a home and thus he sought out an inclusive interfaith view of the world.
