Squirming

....which is what a lot of people in the film industry seem to be doing over the Polanski rape case, most notably Whoopi Goldberg (it wasn't 'rape-rape', apparently). I am, like a lot of people, bemused by this concept of 'rape-rape.' Presumably it is like being a little bit pregnant, and soon to be followed by 'sex-sex' (aka the Clinton Defence) and probably 'death-death', in which you're only slightly deceased.

Not surprised by Woody Allen's name on the petition, though. As someone on a bul...

Cass

Cass the Rottie has now been here for nearly a fortnight and is settling in well, although she has hurt her paw (she trod on something sharp and split a pad). she hops around, squeaking pathetically, but it seems to be healing (although when some food was in the offing she suddenly bolted across the floor on all 4 legs. Hmmm). Sid seems to have taken her for granted, apart from the occasional 'Oh God, what is that THING?' sidelong look. Sid and Lily sleep on the bed together at night...

Cass i...

Saturday

My teaching contract has ended, with a pleasant lunch in the Globe, one of Bath's nice pubs. I am currently working in a different capacity, sitting in the Assembly Rooms reading the tarot for people at a psychic fair. The Assembly Rooms has chai, a variety of other teas, homemade biscuits and falafel. And all my clients have been good.

In other news, J has been plagued by the stranger customer this morning, on first opening. A woman came in - petite, nicely dressed etc - and informed him tha...

State of play

This will be my last teaching week - it ends on Friday, after a single lesson on Friday morning. Due to university restructuring, that will be the end of my association with Bath Spa for the moment. It's been good and it seems that our students are very pleased with the course that J and I have been running, so it's nice to end on a positive note.

After this, I will be coming back full time into Witchcraft Ltd, partially replacing our PA, who is leaving for personal reasons. But I will also b...

Customer: what's that deity?

Staff member: which one?

Customer: the one on your t-shirt.

Staff member: Madam, that is....a Moomin.

More dog

Cass was owned by an elderly lady who could no longer look after her, and who passed the dog on to her son, where she has been for about a year. It's not that she has been maltreated, just not looked after very well - not walked much, and her eyes are all gummy. She has had allergies. Her tail is half docked, a kind of fringed stump. Also the rescuer told Trevor that Cass had been spayed, as this was what she had been told: they only found out this morning that she hasn't.

She tore about the ...

Cass

We appear to have another dog. She is a 3 year old Rottweiler, another rescue from a not-very-good home, and her name is Cass. She is approximately the size of a bull. Sid has just beaten her up, like a little furry black windmill.
