My new gig and calls for submissions!

If you're not on Twitter, you might have missed my big news last week. I'm the new Head Editor at Musa's GLBT imprint, Erato! I'm really excited about this job, and for all the opportunities I'll have to work in one of my favorite genres. I've jumped in with both feet and I seriously cannot hold in my excitement!

If you're a regular reader of my not-so regular blog posts, you'll know I don't care how dorky that made me sound, either. ;)

So here, have some calls for submission!

Musa Publishing...

Great news!

Yes, I am still kicking. I know you're all surprised.

I've been buried under my editing work, but that's fine because I love this job with a burning passion. It didn't work well with NaNo, but we'll see how I do next time. Life is all about dusting yourself off and trying again. Especially when you're kicking ass and taking names everywhere else. ;)

Currently, I'm editing two anthologies for release at the end of January with Musa Publishing. I've had the privilege to work with eight of the...

Signs of Life

See? I really am still around!

I've been crazy-busy the past couple of months, and it's not showing any signs of letting up. And that's a good thing.Or, it will be, once things come to fruition.

Actually, I'm so crazy busy, I shouldn't even be blogging right now, but I looked at how out of date this site was and just cringed. So here I am with a quick update of sorts.

I've got a couple of short stories out on submission at this time; fun, short, and kinky. I like them, and hopefully the people I...

Help them give (NOH8)

When I was a kid, I was raised on the belief that each person should be judged on their own merit. Not by the color of their skin, the god they worship (or not), or who they happened to love. Human beings come in so many different packages, but they are all so very beautiful and fragile, and we are all interconnected on so many levels.

And then I completely outstripped my school library's ability to provide me with any sort of challenge (once I read through Frankenstein and, yes, wept for the ...

Guest Post: My very professional Letogasm vampirepimpin’ post

A guest post again! Yay! This wasn’t supposed to go up until tomorrow, but I just know I’ll forget if I wait. As proof, I offer the fact that I only just remembered tonight that I’ve had an interview from Viki Lyn sitting in my inbox for weeks.

But today I bring you a guest post from the wickedly outrageous and amazingly talented Scarlett Parrish. I’ve only been looking forward to this book since this past spring. Seriously, check her out. After you read this post, that is.

So apparently I’m su...

Write-a-Palooza Update

Erika folding portable, c.1922So here I am, a week later and still standing.

Er, metaphorically.

I've been busting my ass the past week to get my work done, with the exception of the 4th. Hey, it was a holiday and I spent a large portion of the day doing holiday stuff. That and sometimes I just need to rebel against myself every now and then. Even if it means I'll be kicking my own ass for the next week about it.

Anyhow, I'm about on schedule, maybe a thousand words behind, and I can make that up just by having a couple of r...

I do not like green eggs and spam

So there was some talk on Twitter yesterday about how to protect your blog from spam comments.

I hate spam. I hate it with a passion to rival very little else. Once, I even wrote a poem to express my feelings about spam in the manner of a Dr. Seuss. No, really. My creative writing professor called it "inspired."

When I set up the Dirty Birdies blog, I even set it up so only people with real accounts could comment, because if I started getting flooded with spam comments in my inbox (because...

Write-a-Palooza

Erika folding portable, c.1922So here's the thing: I write slow. I know this, Jenny knows this, hell, everyone knows this. But it's been killing me these past few months, what with the writer's block I had earlier this year, and then being just too stressed to actually focus on the page for any length of time because all I could think was oh my God, I need to find a job or figure something out, I can't just stay home.

But the thing is, I already have a job. Granted, the pay sucks, but the benefits are awesome, and I get...

Great News!

I received news yesterday that my m/m bondage story, "Laced," has been accepted to be Rachel Kramer Bussel's Best Bondage Erotica 2012! I am so excited, I just don't even have WORDS. I told Jenny, I told Twitter, I told the Spouse. Hell, I even went on my personal Facebook and told a few people there.

I completely fail at playing shit cool. If you went to the dictionary and looked up "big ol' happy dork," you'd see my picture. Well, you would if there was such an entry. Which there isn't. BUT ...
