Ryan Adam Smith is the author of Below Sunlight and many other brilliant and terrible pieces of literature which will never leave the confines of his mind. Basically, Ryan is exactly the kind of guy that spends all day writing, coming up with crazy ideas that may work or end in disaster, and sometimes drinking whiskey. Actually, whiskey's involved a lot. ...more

Sex, Drugs, and Politics

I’ve wanted to write about Anthony Weiner for the past couple months but the information was so overwhelming that I had to wait for the dust to settle before collecting my thoughts and sinking into the abyss of weird sex politics. Now that I’m ready, let’s light this candle.

So the last Congressman (and only Congressman ever named Weiner) that should have been involved in a sex scandal was texting, Read more of this blog post »

Ed Rambeau Thanks for accepting my friend request, Ryan. You seem like an interesting person, so feel free to tell me more about yourself and perhaps we can grow to become even greater friends. I, myself, am a singer/songwriter/actor who has recently turned author. My 2 top ten recordings were CONCRETE & CLAY (as a singer) and NAVY BLUE (as a writer)...both in the early 1960's. My first novel is an unusual murder mystery entitled: FORBIDDEN STEPS.

Regards, and have a great day, Ed

Ryan Smith Hi TEA,

Thanks for marking Below Sunlight to read. I love Franzen's writing. I'm almost done with The Corrections and it is definitely one of those books that I can't put down and wish would never end. There is nothing outright glamorous about the family he writes about but his style and the way he puts words together is amazing. Its the kind of book that makes me question everything I've ever written. I would recommend moving it to the very top of your list along with his newest book, Freedom.

Penelope Marzec Thanks for adding me as a friend!
