Jennifer Cole Judd is the author of a new rhyming picture book, CIRCUS TRAIN, (Two Lions, March 2015, and co-editor of AN EYEBALL IN MY GARDEN, a spooky middle grade poetry anthology (Marshall Cavendish, 2010).

Cooking, art, digging in the dirt, playing with my dog or chickens, funny conversations with my kids, going for a walk, searching for little treasures (or fairies!). First, read what you love, and read what you want to write. I think any writer serious about the craft needs to be immersing herself in good books. Then, WRITE. It's easy to postpone writing and let other things get in the way. Even if you can only write 10 minutes, take that time. Join professional organizations. Meet other writers. Find a critique group (a must!). (less)
