After studying English Literature at Bristol University, I worked in publishing before deciding to write my own stories. I've had about twenty-five books published for children and young adults. The 'Swallowcliffe Hall' books - novels centred around a grand English country house, the family who live there and the servants who look after them - have recently been released with lovely new covers in ebook format. My website has lots of original photographs and fascinating background information on the topics covered in the series: Victorian country house servants, etiquette, horses in the Great War, preparations for the Second World War, the Kindertransport and much more. Discovering the real Swallowcliffe

When I first had the idea some ten years ago to write a set of books set in an English country house, perhaps the most important thing to decide was what to call my house and thus the series.
