I am a writer, educator, businessperson and former Central Intelligence Agency senior operations officer. After receiving a master's degree at Stanford University, I wrote my first non-fiction book, "The McCarthy Era: 1950-1954 - Was American Society Threatened?" while teaching high school in Cupertino, California. Following two tours of duty in Vietnam as a U.S. Army military intelligence adviser, I stayed on in Asia for two decades as a businessperson in Hong Kong, the Philippines and Japan. Returning to the U.S. and managing a laser and sensor manufacturing company in Los Angeles, I subsequently accepted a position as an operations officer in the Central Intelligence Agency.
