I have two fantasies:
1. I would love to travel in the seventeenth century Venice as an accultured courtesan who gathers famous known people in the mixed art fields for her memorable evenings based on food/wines and discussions on art in general.
2. I would love to travel to the period of Belle Époque Paris as a rich merchant of extravagant, original and exotic fabrics. (less)

The Paris Wife by Paula McLain
—ERNEST HEMINGWAY
Do you want to know a secret? For most of my life I didn’t even like Ernest Hemingway! His prose was too macho, too stripped down, so full bravado. But then I read A Moveable Feast in my early 40s and met the man Hadley did in 1920. I was instantly fascinated by this little-known woman who followed this young, aspiring writer to Paris, believing in his talent before anyone else even knew who he was. All the dazzling places that the Hemingways went—from Paris to Pamplona to ...more
