Woooohooo!

New reviews of First Frost!

sparkle4

Bianca is a character that you can relate to who has already been through a lot in her short life after her father disappears when she was seven, but she and her mother overcome and this adds a new depth to the story that is already emotional and beautiful. I started this novel late at night thinking I would just read a couple of chapters before I go to bed. I ended up staying up until four in the morning I couldn’t put this one down, this novel is amazing! Not only is this a great young adult novel it is also fun for anyone who loves a triumphant novel, I truly hope the author makes a return visit to EverAfter.

5 Stars!! Read the rest of the review here.

Side note: I loved how she stayed up til 4 in the morning reading my book. I can die a happy woman now. :D

* Squeal* Fairy Tales! I absolutely love reading them! I don’t know how many times I’ve read Snow White or Rapunzel. Although it comes a bit boring after some time, since the story is always the same and you know what’s coming. But even then it won’t lose its magic. I still love reading them ^^ Therefore I love to read retellings of my favorite ones. A retelling usually focuses on details you’ve forgotten or gives the story a different twist. It makes well-known fairy-tales ”fresh” and enjoyable. It gives you a whole new story to enjoy, with the same magic of the old one.

3 Stars!!

Introducing ~ Sloane Taylor

Now that my latest book is released as this week's Tuesday Temptation? Not a chance.

Please allow me to share a little of MASQUERADE with you. Hope you enjoy it.

Behind every mask is always a fragment of truth.

BLURB
Chicagoan Clancy Marshall has planned her dream vacation in Venice down to the last detail. From gondola rides to masked balls, and anything else that just happens along, she is determined to experience all pleasures. But those careful plans fly out the door when she literally falls into the arms of a masked stranger.

Vittore Ricci comes from an old Venetian family that claims two doges in their lineage. A straight-laced Count and owner of a prestigious hotel, he never does anything without serious consideration. Until a sexy American tourist offers an opportunity no man can refuse.

EXCERPT
Green eyes sparkling behind delicate shades of purple feathers held him hostage. Vittore thought he had recognized her the moment she walked onto the pier. When she spoke, he knew his search had finally ended. Determination and desire had persevered. The gods had delivered her into his hands and he wanted to learn more about this mystery woman with her gay laugh and quick wit, even if it was only for one night.

Clancy opened her door, then switched on the entry light. At the bedroom, she glanced over her shoulder, the long plumes brushing her creamy bare shoulder. “Make yourself comfortable. I’ll be just a moment.”

He wandered around the room, straightening the pillows on the sofa, adjusting a wing backed chair and, finally, the magazines scattered across the pecan desktop. It was there he found a handwritten note caught between the pages. A little guilt crept in for snooping, but he shoved it aside, eager to discover more about this sensual woman who intrigued him.

Note to Self — Loving Venice

1. Ride in a gondola
2. Climb the Campanile in St. Mark’s Square
3. Attend a masked ball
4. Dance under the stars in St. Mark’s Square
5. Tour a professional kitchen
6. Buy one special piece of Murano glass
7. Fall in love—at least for the night
8. Hear a Vivaldi Concert
9. Attend an opera at the Fenice
10.

Vittore reread the paper, paying close attention to number seven. He looked out at the waning moon and sent a prayer of thanks to Raphael the Archangel, the patron saint of happy meetings, for his good fortune.

On a whoosh of material, he slid the list back under a book.

“Vittore, I have a suggestion, a little game to add to the Carnaval mystique. Sort of an adult Twenty Questions. Are you willing to play?”

“You spark my interest.” He liked games, particularly in the bedroom. A myriad of erotic foreplay flitted through his mind. Before they said farewell, his princessa would experience pleasures she had never imagined. “What are the rules?”

Mason's blog post

Mason got a hold of my computer and started to pretend to type. He was saying things like "I'm Mason, I'm writing." and "I'm Mason, I'm checking my email." So naturally I sat him on my lap and let him post his own blog post.

Musa Publishing Anniversary Blog Hop

firstfrost-200

For generations, the Frost family has run the Museum of Magical and Rare Artifacts, handing down guardianship from mother to daughter, always keeping their secrets to “family only.”
Gathered within museum’s walls is a collection dedicated to the Grimm fairy tales and to the rare items the family has acquired: Cinderella’s glass slipper, Snow White’s poisoned apple, the evil queen’s magic mirror, Sleeping Beauty’s enchanted spinning wheel…
Seventeen-year-old Bianca Frost wants none of it, dreaming instead of a career in art or photography or…well, anything except working in the family’s museum. She knows the items in the glass display cases are fakes because, of course, magic doesn't really exist.
She’s about to find out how wrong she is.

Purchase a copy of First Frost at Musa Publishing.

Don't forget this week we're celebrating Musa Publishing's first anniversary with a blog hop.

Musa Publishing Anniversary Blog Hop

musa ann2
I can't believe that Musa Publishing is already a year old. :D I'm going to go ahead and tell you all the story of how I discovered this amazing company.

Last year I had written a book titled First Frost. I loved this book, but more than that I was proud that I had written it. I wrote it between driving my son to preschool and while pregnant with my second baby son, Peter. So imagine my heartache as I recieved rejection after rejection. Although every once in a while I would get a personalized letter from an editor saying how much they enjoyed the book but it wasn't exactly what they were looking for at that particular moment. At least letters like those let me know I was on the right track.

Enter Musa Publishing. I'm not even sure how I heard about them in the first place. It was as though someone handed the name to me on a silver platter and then poof! vanished. I did a bit of research and found Celina talking to a group of authros at Absolute Write . People were asking questions trying to learn more about the company and Celina Summers (One of the amazing women behind Musa) was patiently, politely AND professionally answering everyone's questions. It was her mannerism that drew me to Musa and made me check out their site. Safe to say that I liked what I saw. I was going to do everything I could to make sure First Frost got published with them.

I went to the site, read the guidelines and followed their instructions very carefully. I even wrote a synopsis, which is the one thing I loathe. Seriously, I'd rather write a brand new novel than write a synopsis but I did it.

Query letter? CHECK!
Synopsis? CHECK!
First 20 pages? CHECK!

I clicked send and waited. Waited....and waited.

I had my baby Peter (did I mention I was pregnant when I finished writing First Frost?) and still...nothing.

Until two weeks after I submitted my book I recieved a letter from the head editor asking if I had recieved her previous email.

I couldn't believe it! I hadn't recieved an email. I checked my inbox 3-4 times (sometimes more) a day. Where did this email go? Spam folder? Nothing. It was lost somewhere in cyberspace. Luckily for me Musa Publishing wanted my book badly enough that they sent me a follow up email. :D And even though I was exhausted and sleep deprived (thanks to a colicky newborn baby boy) I'm very quick on my feet. I sent the rest of the manuscript and before the week was over I had an acceptance letter and a contract

First Frost had a home. A brand spankin' new home to boot. I'm so proud to be with Musa Publishing and how far they've come and how quickly they've grown. I've met so many talented authors, editors and other staff members that have helped make this company what it is today. Seriously, I wish some of you lived closer so we can hang out. Anyway Happy Anniversary Musa Publishing, here's to another amazing year and many more to come.
