Zombie Ever After

This is kinda what Rapunzel looks like in my zombie novel. Her hair isn't bunched up on top of her head like that but you can kinda get an idea as to what I'm thinking about. Does that make sense? God, I hope so.

Anyway right now the manuscript is a hot mess. Nothing makes sense. All I have are a bunch of scenes randomly placed, ideas and lots of comments that say *add more*. LOL God, the first drafts of my stories are AWFUL. Seriously. You would read them, take one look at me and say "Put the pen down and step away from the paper." I'm just lucky that I have an editor that I can send my novels to before I submit them to agents and publishers.

This is turning out to be more of a character study than a zombie novel. It's about the people that live in the compound and how they deal with the zombie apocalypse. The fact that there are fairy tales mixed into it just makes it fun. :) But I like how the characters are developing, I love discovering who they are and what they're thinking. That's my favorite part about writing a new novel, the discovery. Although don't get me wrong, I love my Frost series characters but I already know them and have spent a few years living inside their heads. I like to see where this takes me at least for now. :)

And just for fun here's a song.

Fairy Tale Friday

Today I'm gonna talk a little bit about Aladdin. The first time I heard about the story was while watching Shelley Duvall's Faerie Tale Theater. Did you know that a young Tim Burton was the one who directed that episode? It also stared James Earl Jones as the Genie of the Lamp. I loved it. :) Then I read the story and realized that there were different versions....and then Disney made the movie. My brother and I LOVED this movie. We watched it to death. I even got the soundtrack for my birthday. God...I loved that song 'A Whole New World'. I thought that carpet ride was the most romantic thing ever.

The story appeared in 1001 Arabian Nights. It's one of the stories that Scheherazade tells the king, saving her own life in the process.

Anyway I won't bore you with too many details. Here's the cliff notes version I found on wikipedia:

[image error] The Sorcerer traps Aladdin in the magic cave.

Aladdin is an impoverished young ne'er-do-well in a Chinese town, who is recruited by a sorcerer from the Maghreb, who passes himself off as the brother of Aladdin's late father Qaseem, convincing Aladdin and his mother of his goodwill by apparently making arrangements to set up the lad as a wealthy merchant. The sorcerer's real motive is to persuade young Aladdin to retrieve a wonderful oil lamp from a booby-trapped magic cave of wonder. After the sorcerer attempts to double-cross him, Aladdin finds himself trapped in the cave. Fortunately, Aladdin retains a magic ring lent to him by the sorcerer as protection. When he rubs his hands in despair, he inadvertently rubs the ring, and a jinn, or "genie", appears, who takes him home to his mother. Aladdin is still carrying the lamp, and when his mother tries to clean it, a second, far more powerful genie appears, who is bound to do the bidding of the person holding the lamp.

With the aid of the genie of the lamp, Aladdin becomes rich and powerful and marries Princess Badroulbadour, the Emperor's daughter (after magically foiling her marriage to the vizier's son). The genie builds Aladdin a wonderful palace – far more magnificent than that of the Emperor himself.

The sorcerer returns and is able to get his hands on the lamp by tricking Aladdin's wife, who is unaware of the lamp's importance, by offering to exchange "new lamps for old". He orders the genie of the lamp to take the palace along with all its contents to his home in the Maghreb. Fortunately, Aladdin retains the magic ring and is able to summon the lesser genie. Although the genie of the ring cannot directly undo any of the magic of the genie of the lamp, he is able to transport Aladdin to Maghreb, and help him recover his wife and the lamp and defeat the sorcerer.

The sorcerer's more powerful and evil brother tries to destroy Aladdin for killing his brother by disguising himself as an old woman known for her healing powers. Badroulbadour falls for his disguise, and commands the "woman" to stay in her palace in case of any illnesses. Aladdin is warned of this danger by the genie of the lamp and slays the imposter. Everyone lives happily ever after, Aladdin eventually succeeding to his father-in-law's throne.

Glass Frost Release Day!!!

glass frost cover mockup

When joined together, Cinderella's slippers grant the wearer her heart's desire.  But whose wish will be granted?

When Cinderella’s glass slipper is stolen, Queen Felicia sends her faithful steward Terrance to the real world to retrieve his love and witch-in-training, Bianca Frost. The power of the glass slipper in the wrong hands could ruin peace in Everafter. Bianca must gather every bit of magic she has learned in the past few weeks to find the slipper and protect her new love. Together, Bianca, Ming, Prince Ferdinand, and Terrance venture deep into the heart of Everafter to seek clues as to who has stolen the slipper and why. Along the way, they uncover what happened to the Seven Dwarves after Snow White married the prince, but also learn the awful risk of tampering with black magic and the high price that must be paid for magical aid, even when used for good.

Bianca and Terrance’s relationship is put to the test. Through the pain of suffering and loss, Bianca must determine if following her gallant boyfriend into his faraway world is in fact her heart's desire.

Amazon Kindle List

amazon free list 2

Okay so a few weeks ago I purchased an ad on this website called BookBub.com. It's a website that let's people know when books are on sale or free. So I took a chance and went with it. It was $40 and I'd heard good things about it. What the hell right? I've done just about everything else to promote my book.

Well...things just got interesting.

I finally cracked the chart!! My book went from being #26 on the Kindle Store (Free category) and jumped to #15. And who's #16? NEIL GAIMAN!!!!

I can't believe it. I know it's going to come crashing down tomorrow and I'll go from being Cinderella in the fancy dress and my glass slippers to my rags and ashes. But I'm having fun dammit. LOL

And I think this calls for a happy dance. Don't you think?

Kind of what Neve/Snow White looks like in my book at the moment. Except that her boots don't have a heel on them (comfort first).
