POINT TO JESUS

TODAY’S PROPHETIC THOUGHT

I Am always speaking. Do you see it? Do you hear it? Look for Me and I will be found by you. Point to Me and I will be found by others.

POINT TO JESUS

I want to share a really cool revelation about baptism with you. You see, so much about the baptism of Jesus was God prophetically speaking and scripture being fulfilled through the events and the people who participated – mainly Jesus and John the Baptist.

“Then all the land of Judea, and those from Jerusalem, went out to him and were all baptized by him in the Jordan River, confessing their sins. Now John was clothed with camel’s hair and with a leather belt around his waist, and he ate locusts and wild honey. And he preached, saying, “There comes One after me who is mightier than I, whose sandal strap I am not worthy to stoop down and loose. I indeed baptized you with water, but He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit.”  – Mark 1: 5-8

Remember, John’s purpose was to point to Jesus and let me tell you, everything about that brother was pointing!

First off, his clothes were a prophetic sign of the King Jesus. A camel is a burden-bearer. John’s clothes screamed prophetically that Jesus was going to carry away our burdens.

John had honey and locust in his mouth. This is a prophetic picture of the Word of God being life unto some and death unto others. The bottom line is that John was a prophetic symbol doing a prophetic act.

And most of all, John was humble. He told people over and over again that he was not the Messiah. He said the one who was coming was mightier and that the water baptism he was performing was good, but the Messiah was going to baptize people with the very Spirit of God!

John was a model of Jesus’ humility. Are you? Are you pointing people to Jesus? Get out of the way and let the Good shepherd find His lost sheep.

CURE FOR A POWERLESS LIFE

TODAY’S PROPHETIC THOUGHT

The power of life and death is in the tongue. You have not because you ask not. Speak life over yourself and others. You have the power to bring heaven into any situation on earth. Use it!

CURE FOR A POWERLESS LIFE

When all hell is breaking loose in my life and I’m feeling like I’m losing it, I turn to my secret weapon. I break out the book of Ephesians.

Ephesians is the encouragement book. It’s got great themes like spiritual warfare. It’s got the whole armor of God. When Paul wrote this book to the church at Ephesus, he was encouraging them not to live a powerless life.

There have been plenty of times in my life where I felt powerless. I didn’t have the answers. I didn’t have a way to fix things and Jesus has shown me something incredible in that place: Just because you feel it doesn’t mean you are it.

One of the great lies of this generation is “if I feel it, then I am it.” That’s 10 pounds of baloney. Man, you’re going to feel all kinds of things that you need to stand up against. You need to tell your flesh, “Oh no, no, no. That’s not what we do.”

The Bible says, “Whosoever will,” not “Whosoever feels.” Your feelings are liars. They are poor substitutes for the truth. Amen. I feel crazy stuff especially when I deal with the darkness surrounding sexual slavery. I feel like being the machine gun preacher sometimes.

Just because I feel it, does not make it true. God’s not called me to be the machine gun preacher. He’s called me to rescue girls and boys from the darkness of slavery and to put the jokers who prey on them in prison for a very long time. I’m called to tell them about Jesus and win them as trophies of grace no matter how bad my flesh wants them to rot in the pit of hell.

That is the power of God. Doing what God tells you and seeing people the way He does despite your feelings. He will call you to love the unlovely and help those who hurt others. Why? Because He cannot stand them living a powerless life either!

Feeling powerless? You’re not! Now, turn to the book of Ephesians…

For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: and whosoever will lose his life for my sake shall find it. – Matthew 16:25

SHOUT IT OUT

TODAY’S PROPHETIC THOUGHT

I created you with emotions. It was not by accident. When you shout, you release emotions. You may be desperate or overcome with joy. Go ahead, shout out to me. Shout out for me. I honor your motive and your emotion.

SHOUT IT OUT!

There are many instances in the Bible where they “shouted.” There is a prophetic shout for declaring what’s going to happen, and there is another shout for when a thing is fulfilled.

“Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion! Shout, O daughter of Jerusalem! Behold, your King is coming to you; He is just and having salvation, Lowly and riding on a donkey, A colt, the foal of a donkey.” – Zechariah 9:9

The appropriate response to the fulfilling of prophecy is a shout. I’m telling you, shouting and prophetic works go together throughout the Bible.

“And the seventh time it happened, when the priests blew the trumpets, that Joshua said to the people: ‘Shout, for the Lord has given you the city!’” – Joshua 6:16

They shouted and the response of heaven was to bring deliverance.

“Be glad in the Lord and rejoice, you righteous; And shout for joy, all you upright in heart!” – Psalms 32:11

That’s a triumphant shout of praise.

“Let them shout for joy and be glad, Who favor my righteous cause; And let them say continually, ‘Let the Lord be magnified, Who has pleasure in the prosperity of His servant.’” – Psalms 35:27

Sometimes, you just need to shout because you know God favors you.

“Make a joyful shout to God, all the earth!” – Psalms 66:1

When it comes to praising God for His awesome works, it’s actually a command to shout. Don’t wait until all hell breaks loose and you get desperate. Don’t go through all that mess. Admit now that you’re not God and that you need Him.

Whether it’s a shout of praise or a “help me” shout, now is not the time to be all prim and proper. There must come a time when pride no longer matters. In Mark 10:47, blind Bartimaeus shouted and was told to be quiet. That brother just got louder. Because of his persistence and belief, he was healed, so, shout it out!

DO YOU ABIDE IN JESUS?

TODAY’S PROPHETIC THOUGHT

Come into the secret place where I reveal My heart toward you. Do not be afraid. I will not be disappointed in your faults and shortcomings. You are made perfect through My sacrifice. Show Me your heart and I will make it whole.

HERE COMES THE BRIDE

There’s this great big part of our relationship with the Lord that nobody talks about. It’s somehow taboo as if we think only of God in terms of His greatness and our weakness. While this is part of the package, Jesus didn’t die to keep us at arm’s length. He died to draw us closer.

Yes, I’m talking about intimacy. That’s the special, deep revelation you give to Him and He returns to you, just like in a marriage. Husbands and wives share a knowing that those outside that bond don’t. It’s like that with the Lord as well.

Intimacy has to do with being a bride. A child or son can have his own agenda. A bride cannot.

You’re in a family, you’re an heir, but you can have your own agenda. When you’re a bride, you’re all the way in. You never think about your life without thinking about your husband. It’s always an “us” thing.

Paul said he counted everything a loss except knowing Jesus more and more and more. That’s not a son talking. That’s a bride – a partner. Psalms 91 says,

“He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress; My God, in Him I will trust.” – Psalms 91:1

While it’s good to be a son or daughter – to be part of the family – it’s better to move into the place of being a bride. Brides “abide” or dwell in the identity, purpose and destiny of their husband. Do you abide in Jesus? Become the bride of Christ. He already paid the price.

YOUR REWARD IS WAITING

TODAY’S PROPHETIC THOUGHT

I long to give you rest, to reward you for seeking My presence. It is here you will find peace of mind and the ability to move up to greater things. There is more of My heart to discover. Come! Go with Me.

YOUR REWARD IS WAITING

Seeking is a big deal to Jesus. There is always a reward attached to seeking. Not only will you find, but other levels of intimacy and blessing are always attached.

To seek means to pursue until you see. Do you know what causes you to give up? Offense. That’s why seekers qualify for finding because the only way you can continue to seek is if you get past your offense because seeking isn’t easy. It’s not comfortable and it can cause you to go into some territory you’d rather ignore and hope it goes away.

Jesus Christ will show up in your life – even the uncomfortable parts. He’ll lead you into a place you were not expecting to go. He’ll show up in a way that you didn’t expect Him to. He will tell you to go places and love people you don’t want to. He’ll do things you didn’t even know He did and you have to be able to deal with the offense of that.

I’m going to tell you, there’s a very offensive side to Jesus. It’s outright offensive that He’ll show up and tell you to be a giver when you’re so broke you can’t even pay attention. It’s outright offensive that He’ll wake you up at 3:33 a.m. and tell you to seek Him.

It’s offense that keeps us from seeking and I want to tell you, get over it! If you want to see great blessing, unbelievable upgrade and favor, seek and keep on seeking even when you want to shout, “What are you doing here Jesus? I don’t understand!”

You weren’t called to understand. You were called to seek. Once you do, He’ll be found and you’ll suddenly go, “Oh, there you are. I see you in this. I get it now and I’ll never be the same.”

You’ll be changed forever and that’s the point of seeking. Your reward is waiting.

Sharon will become a pasture for flocks, and the Valley of Achor a resting place for herds, for my people who seek me. – Isaiah 66:10

ARE YOU PRODUCING FRUIT?

TODAY’S PROPHETIC THOUGHT

The day you made the choice to follow Me, you became a new creation. Your life will never be the same. Dig into the letter I left you, My Holy word. I will speak new things into your life.

WHAT’S GROWING INSIDE?

The term “after its own kind” is in the book of Genesis 10 times. Ten is the number for perfect order, the number for when God sets things up.

It’s one of the reasons why, in the ancient Middle East, it was such a shameful thing for a woman not to be able to have children. If she was barren, it was assumed there was a problem with her marriage and that the union shouldn’t exist.

It was such an important principle back then that they actually put a hideous curse on people who couldn’t reproduce. They cast horrible judgment and shame on people.

God hates bareness. I’m not talking about God hates it when someone cannot have a baby. What I’m saying is God hates it when people do not reproduce the Kingdom.

God wants to bring fruit from your life which comes from intimate communion between the two of you – God doing a work on the inside. Then you’re going to have to labor with God until that thing is produced.

This is responsible Christianity. This is not sitting around saying, “Well, if it happens, it’s God and if it doesn’t happen, it’s not.” You can want a job all day long, but if you don’t actually look for a job and apply, chances are you’re not going to be employed.

But the fruit of the Spirit is love joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. – Galatians 5:22-23

Folks, this is the kind of fruit God desires for you to reproduce. If you’ve trusted Christ as your Lord and Savior, you are a new creation. That kind of means you will do “new” things.

WHAT OWNS YOU?

TODAY’S PROPHETIC THOUGHT

I see what hunts you in the dark. If you can trust Me, I will remove those monsters and give you a new mind – the mind of Christ – and replace your heart of stone with a heart of flesh.

WHAT OWNS YOU?

Just as the sins of those baptized in the Jordan River flowed into the Dead Sea, when you get baptized, all the filthy junk that went in with you flows into the sea of forgetfulness.

The Bible says that when Jesus came up out of the water the heavens were opened to Him.

As soon as Jesus was baptized, he went up out of the water. At that moment heaven was opened, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and alighting on him. And a voice from heaven said, “This is my Son, whom I love; with him I am well pleased.” – Matthew 3:16-17

If you’ve already been baptized you need to claim that for yourself. I mean it. And if you have not yet been baptized or you’re going to get baptized again, you need to claim that. Why?

Because when you get baptized, you have a legal right to claim that all the mess that has separated you from God is gone and has been left in the water. Just like Pharaoh’s armies chased the Hebrews into the Red Sea, there are some things chasing you and they want to consume you.

Just like Moses, you’re going to take some stuff into that water. You’re going to come up and leave the monsters chasing you there. Whether it’s bitterness, shame or addiction; you can leave that in the water.

What has owned you and you need it gone so you can get back to following the One True God? Leave it in the water, break free and watch the heavens open and say, “This is My child. I love them and am so happy to call them mine.”

WANT TO PROSPER?

TODAY’S PROPHETIC THOUGHT

My plan for your life is for your good, not your harm. Trust Me even when it seems nothing is going right. Keep your eyes on your destiny. Rejoice with those who prosper and they will do likewise.

DONKEYS AND HORSES

When God called the children of Israel to be a nation, one of the things He did not allow them to have was horses. Check it out. They’re always riding donkeys.

We’re talking about the Middle East – Arabia – where they have some of the best horses in the world. Why didn’t the Jews get to have horses? Because horses are animals of conquest and God didn’t want them going out into other nations,

He wanted them managing the thing that He had given them to manage. I call that alignment for assignment.

He didn’t want them looking over into other countries and wanting to fool around with some of the things they had. You need to manage what God Almighty has given you to steward.

“But Pastor Troy, the grass is greener on the other side of the fence. Someone else is prospering and if I can just get to their field, I can prosper too.”

That, my friend, is called coveting and it’s a major no-no with the Lord. He doesn’t want your eyes on the good things others have. Those are their blessings based on His relationship with them. It’s what they were made for and what they can handle. If you horn in on that, it will blow up in your face.

Instead, like the children of Israel, focus on what the Lord has given you. Trust is the key. You have to trust God that He’s given you the best for your calling and destiny. When you get your eyes on your prize, you can accomplish great things for the Kingdom.

Want to prosper? Trust the Lord for your donkey and let the horses go.

Some trust in chariots and some in horses, but we trust in the name of the LORD our God. – Psalms 20:7

CAN YOUR MESS BE BEAUTIFUL?

TODAY’S PROPHETIC THOUGHT

I Am God, but I chose to become like you. I know your hurt, your pain, your fears and your delights. I was willing to endure to have empathy with you. Endure and have empathy on others until I come again.

HOW BEAUTIFUL!

There are a lot of people I want to meet when I get to heaven. I have so many questions and I imagine having them answered would give me a complete picture of God’s amazing grace.

I wonder if Joseph ever asked Mary if she was sure that God said she was blessed and highly favored. I’m sure he wondered if it was necessary for them to go through all the hell of shame and rejection. I may not know if he actually thought about that, but I do know this: it was necessary.

It’s funny how western civilization portrays the birth of Jesus in such a positive way. Beautiful nativity sets that show pristine, sterile conditions of a perfect Joseph, Mary and baby.

Three perfect wise men and three perfect little animals around and one perfect angel. When you see this, you’re going to go, “How beautiful.” And that’s the way we need to remember it, but it’s not the way it was.

Remember that Jesus was born in the midst of a terrible mess, and remember that’s what makes it perfect.

When they had seen him, they spread the word concerning what had been told them about this child, and all who heard it were amazed at what the shepherds said to them. But Mary treasured up all these things and pondered them in her heart.  – Luke 2:17-19

YOU ARE WORTHY

TODAY’S PROPHETIC THOUGHT

You don’t have to hide your faults from Me. I see them, just not as you do. I see the great strength your weakness truly is. I see the great results your failures will achieve in your character. I see your true identity because it is a reflection of Me.

WORTHY

Father God is a giver. He’s the most giving person ever and our blueprint for how you and I should give – generously.

The Bible says one of the things He will give us is that we’ll learn to walk in the newness of life. “But Pastor Troy, I’m 40 years old. How can I have newness of life when I’ve got so much baggage and such a long way to go?”

Once you get yourself saved and start walking with God, newness is just part of the package. You don’t have to earn it. It’s His gift to you as you begin to figure out that your identity is not who everybody has always said you are. It’s also not who you’ve always thought you are.

Your identity is who God says you are.

Let me say that again – your identity is who God says you are and, my friend, your Abba Father has nothing bad to say about you. Those failures from the past? He sees the victory He brought out of them. Your lack? He sees the abundance He has and is providing.

God created time so He could do a great big work of redemption in you and me. When you become a new creation in Christ, all that junk from your past is gone. The word says He has literally thrown that trash to the ends of the universe and beyond.

…as far as the east is from the west, so far has he removed our transgressions from us. – Psalms103:12

This is my confidence and let it be yours too: Father God has given you a new life. Don’t run back to the old ways. Let that baggage go and be who He says you are – worthy.
