A DIFFERENT SPIRIT
You have been set apart through the acceptance of My Gift, My sacrifice. Be in this world, not of it and you will endure to the end. If you endure, they will be saved.
A DIFFERENT SPIRIT
You and I need to have a different Spirit. As this world is losing its mind, we need to have something very, very different about us.
Because you’re not walking and talking like the world and drinking the cool-aide the world is serving up, you need to know your walk is going to be controversial.
Folks are not going to like it. People who say they hate slavery will hate you for saving people out of slavery. People who say they care about the hungry and the homeless will try to talk you out of feeding and helping those very people. How does that work?
In their theater of drama, it just works. People who don’t like truth compensate. They exchange truth for drama.
In this day of instability, you need to have a stability that comes from the Presence of the Lord no matter what it is you’re working through. Today, I want to help you through that.
Dealing with controversy means learning where to draw a line and where do you not draw a line. A line tells you and the world where you stand and where do you not. Do not stand with the mob. Do not stand in a dramatic place.
Stand with Jesus. Have a different spirit and stand up for Truth – it’s also the Way and the Life!
Be watchful, stand firm in the faith, act like men, be strong. – 1 Corinthians 16:13

WHAT MAKES GOD HAPPY?
Love is selfless. Because I Am love I Am not selfish. I gave Myself to bear the judgment of those under judgment. I put myself in your place. Put yourself in the shoes of the lost and tell them about Me.
THE FROSTING ON TOP
Today, I’ll start with the bad news: There’s going to be a test on your life. Now, here’s the good news: God Almighty provided the Bible to let you know exactly what’s going to be on the test so you can pass.
There are actually two tests and a lot of people don’t know that. A lot of people just think in terms of the one test – the test to see if you’re holy. That’s the Great White Throne Judgment found in Revelation 20.
“Then I saw a great white throne and Him who sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away. And there was found no place for them. 12 And I saw the dead, small and great, standing before God, and books were opened. And another book was opened, which is the Book of Life. And the dead were judged according to their works, by the things which were written in the books. 13 The sea gave up the dead who were in it, and Death and Hades delivered up the dead who were in them. And they were judged, each one according to his works. 14 Then Death and Hades were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death. 15 And anyone not found written in the Book of Life was cast into the lake of fire.” – Revelation 20:11-15
That test is the qualifier for eternity in heaven with King Jesus. If you’re not saved, your name is not in the Lamb’s Book of Life, so here’s some advice for you: get yourself saved.
If you’re a Christian and you pass that test, there’s another test you need to know about. This test is to see if you served. It is called the Judgment Seat of Christ. This test is not about judgment. It’s about rewards.
God is such a loving God, He doesn’t just want you to be in Heaven with Him for eternity, He wants to honor you while you’re there. Why? Because it’s His good pleasure. It makes Him happy.
It makes Him happy the same way it makes a mama happy to give her kids credit for making the cake when they only put the frosting on top. So, make your Father God happy today. Do something He can applaud you for. Serve somebody.

ARE YOU ALL IN?
I proved My love for you by becoming a man so I could have empathy with your pain. I proved it again by taking that pain and making it My own on the cross. Show your love for me. Meet Me in the secret place.
ALL IN
There are prayers that you pray that you need to pray behind closed doors. The Bible says so and I’ve discovered from personal experience that it’s true.
“But you, when you pray, go into your closet, and when you have shut your door, pray to your Father who is in secret, and your Father who sees in secret will reward you openly.” – Matthew 6:6
One of the reasons Jesus says to shut the door is simply for the reason of privacy. The word He uses for “closet” is defined in the Strong’s exhaustive concordance as a “secret chamber” or a place where you retire for privacy.
Match up your private prayers with private places. Match up your environment, atmosphere and culture. Environment is physical, atmosphere is spiritual and culture is social. Believe me, this is important stuff.
Things that are cultural have to do with relational things. Things that are environmental have to do with your physical location, and the setting you’re supposed to prepare is your atmosphere. The Holy Spirit wants to partner with you in all three of these.
Jesus says to not bring private prayers before public people. That seems pretty simple yet that is radical for the American Church where gossip in the name of accountability runs rampant.
What do you do with battlefield prayers? Maybe you need to get into a warfare stance. Maybe you need to get a sword and let the devil know you mean business by swinging that bad boy around as you cry out, declare and generally go crazy.
Need to conquer a mountain of debt? Climb one and plant your freedom flag. Get creative and prophetically match your prayers to your desired outcome. Jesus loves that because it’s effective and shows we’re all in.

FIGHT IS OVER
I Am a faithful Father. I love you and nothing will ever change that. Come to Me and rest in My promises. Anxiety and fear no longer have a place in your life. The fight is over.
YOU GOTTA GO!
God’s not mad at you. He loves you more than you know. Do not run away from Him. Run to Him.
You have access to God’s love and forgiveness by faith. Now, there’s a difference between the Old Testament and the New Testament, and I think OpenDoor Church is called to reach not just the world for Jesus, but to reach Christians for Jesus.
I’m talking about Christians who live on the wrong side of the cross. Their whole world is about trying to be right, but Jesus came to pay the price for that. You and I are filled with the Spirit. We’re supposed to walk in that power and bear much fruit. We’re already saved – not still trying to get saved.
So, there’s a difference between one side of the cross and the other. The difference is baptism. The difference is the Jordan River. It’s the difference between wilderness Christians and Promised Land Christians. What is that?
In the wilderness, it’s all about survival. You learn that whatever the problem is, it isn’t God. God is the answer to everything. The wilderness is all about just getting through the day. Too many Christians live in the wilderness.
Then you get to the Jordan River. The Jordan splits, you walk across it and now you’re in the Promised Land. Your life isn’t all about survival anymore. It’s about a legacy. As a matter of fact, you don’t have to worry about survival anymore. Why?
Because you get to live in a house you didn’t build, drink from a well you didn’t dig and eat from a vineyard you didn’t plant. You find a giant or a mountain and you say, “Give me that mountain” or “You uncircumcised Philistine, who do you think you are? Get out of my house. Get out of my family and my generation.”
You stand up and say, “There’s a new sheriff in town. I’m filled with the Holy Spirit of Jesus Christ, God Almighty and you gotta go!”
Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. – James 4:7

ARE YOU READY TO RESPOND?
I love you too much to let you stay the same. When I saved you out of the pit of sin, a dusted you off, gave you a ring and a robe. You are already clean, now follow Me to get your hands dirty serving others.
FIRST RESPONDER
I know I’ve already told you that when Jesus Christ reveals Himself to John on the Isle of Patmos, it’s a word to the Church – that means people who have been born again – you and me. Here’s one of those words:
“…among whom we also all once conducted ourselves in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, just as the others. But God who is rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, even when we were dead in trespasses, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved), and raised us up together, and made us sit together in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus…” – Ephesians 2:3-6
It’s saying there was a time in our lives when everything we found ourselves doing was fulfilling the desires of the natural man. By nature, we were called children of wrath. That’s what an unsaved person is and what we were before God initiated anything in our lives.
Even while we deserved His wrath, God in His mercy stepped in. All of a sudden, we were invaded by the love of God and His grace, and He saved us.
When we were sinners, God made a move on us. God initiates and we respond. We’re responders. Our purpose in this relationship and fellowship with our Savior, King and Lord is we respond to everything He initiates.
Most of us are reading this devotional and living the life we’re living for Him because we responded to His call of giving us unconditional love.
So, here’s my point today. You and I are saved. We can’t get any more saved than we are. So if we don’t need to get saved, what is God calling us to that we need to respond to?
Upgrade. Intimacy. Relationship. Identity, purpose and destiny. That’s what He’s initiating. We are no longer under wrath, but if we don’t respond to His new call, we will miss the heart of King Jesus. Respond.

WHEN WAS THE LAST TIME YOU HAD A “NEW SONG”?
When I spoke the universe into existence, it was with a song. A revelation of My heart and My creativity brought time, space and matter into being. You are so much more than those things! You are My image and My child. I have a song just for you!
REVELATION SONGS
When you start living your supernatural identity out, you start denying your flesh, walking in the newness of life and discovering things. One of the things you will discover is a new song.
“Oh sing to the Lord a new song; sing to the Lord, all the earth!” – Psalms 96:1
By the way, every time you get a new revelation or encounter with God, it’s like Him saying, “this is going to be your new experience.” That’s called a new song. Are you tracking with me here? A new song comes from a new revelation.
“And they sang a new song, saying: “You are worthy to take the scroll and to open its seals because you were slain, and with your blood, you purchased for God persons from every tribe and language and people and nation.” – Revelation 5:9
Everybody’s jamming in heaven. It’s an epic moment and with the epic moment comes an epic song.
A new song comes from a new experience in the power of the Holy Spirit. When God gives you a new song, you’re supposed to move from the outer court to the inner court, or from the inner court to the Holy of Holies. It’s increasing from 30- to 60- to 100-fold blessings because you’re willing to let that revelation work in your life.
When was the last time you had a new song – a new Revelation about Jesus that changed the way you think or the way you act? If it’s been a while, that’s too long! Ask the Holy Spirit for a new revelation today then keep your eyes and ears open. It could be in the Word, in a song, on the nightly news or something your kids say that makes you go, “BOOM! Mind blown!”
Where your revelation comes from is how God Almighty speaks to you. I’m just saying go after it and be prepared to grab it when it comes because it will. If you seek a revelation song, you will find and that’s a fact, Jack!

LEAVE THAT JUNK IN THE WATER
Freedom is a big deal to Me. Without freedom, there can be no love. Without love, freedom is useless. Give Me what has kept you captive and I will bury it in the depths of the sea.
LEAVE THAT JUNK IN THE WATER
I believe when you’re baptized, things that have been closed to you in the heavens will be broken wide open. You’re going to see prayers answered, revelation, things restored, and intimate fellowship with Jesus.
How do I know? Look at Moses and the Israelites as they were leaving Egypt. As their past came back to haunt them and drag them back into captivity, God Himself said something amazing to Moses at the edge of the Red Sea.
Then the Lord said to Moses, “Why are your crying out to me? Tell the Israelites to move on. Raise your staff and stretch out your hand over the sea to divide the water so that the Israelites can go through the sea on dry ground. I will harden the hearts of the Egyptians so that they will go in after them. And I will gain glory through Pharaoh and all his army, through his chariots and his horsemen. The Egyptians will know that I am the Lord when I gain glory through Pharaoh, his chariots and his horsemen.” – Exodus – 14:18
God wants to trap the things that hunt you down – the addictions, fears, secret sins and wrong thinking that have your bound – and wash them away for His Glory.
Just like Pharaoh’s chariots and horsemen being washed away in the waters of the Red Sea was an advertisement of His power to the Hebrews and Egyptians alike, your past and all the demons in it being buried in the water are a testimony to Him. So is the freedom that follows.
When you take something down into that water with you, come up out of that water and say, “I am free from that.” Believe with all your heart the power of the Holy Spirit has been initiated in your life.
What do you need freedom from? Give God the glory and let Him wash it away in the waters of baptism for all the world to see. Then move into the relationship and rewards Jesus has always wanted for you.

WILL YOU CHANGE?
I Am a God who never changes. Life changes. You will change as your circumstances change. I do not. I Am the same yesterday, today and tomorrow. I love you as you are, but if you partner with Me, you will change for the better.
WILL YOU CHANGE?
If you study Deuteronomy 28, the first 14 verses are God’s awesome blessing for obedience. It’s amazing, but the next verse is a curse and it’s ugly.
“But it shall come to pass, if you do not obey the voice of the Lord your God, to observe carefully all His commandments and His statutes which I command you today, that all these curses will come upon you and overtake you… – Deuteronomy 28:15
Then the Lord gives them a long list of curses for disobedience. Look it up because it’ll blow your mind. What’s real is as extreme as the blessing is, the curse is just as extreme.
One thing He promises in the blessing is He’ll make it rain. There’s a big difference between the Old Testament covenant and the New Testament covenant. Under the New Covenant, God Almighty makes it rain on the just and the unjust.
…that you may be sons of your Father in heaven; for He makes His sun rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust. – Matthew 5:45
In the Old Testament, God only let it rain on the just. In the Old Testament, the Jews were God’s chosen people.
The truth is, God never changes. What changed between the two covenants was the arrival of Jesus Christ. In the New Testament, through Christ, God offers salvation to the Jews and Gentiles alike. Paul calls that “the one new man” – Jew and Gentile accepted and blessed by God Almighty.
Old Testament and New, He is the only God. The only One worthy of our praise. Here in Texas, we pray for rain a lot. But do we pray for Jesus to reign? Surrender to Him. Be obedient and walk in the blessings He promised to our Jewish brothers and sisters. They’re for us too!

WHAT ARE YOU INTENT ON?
I know the plans I have for you. I prepared good things for you to do long ago before you were born. I Am an intentional God whose plan is for your good. Do you believe it? Receive it and trust in Me.
CLOSE THE DOOR!
Jesus teaches us to match our prayers with settings. Why? Because we’re in a relationship and you don’t meet your best friend in a trash heap and expect a positive outcome.
Yes, the reason we “close the door” on our prayer closet is because it’s a picture of intimacy. If you want to get intimate with God, set things up for intimacy. The last part of shutting the door is intentionality.
When you’ve got something important to bring before Jesus, you go into a room and you close the door – you’ve got business to do. You’re not going to worry about what’s going on outside or who is going to overhear. You have to think about what’s going on in there. You’re intentional.
That’s when you do something by decision instead of by default. I love being intentional. My default setting always spins me off into some place that’s bad. We have to learn to reprogram our own default settings.
When all hell breaks loose, you don’t just instantly run to Jesus. You have to make yourself do that. You do it enough and that becomes your default setting. But you have to do that through the intentional posture of discipline.
The same way, you don’t just accidentally fall into a blessing because God is intentional. The power of intent is huge in the Kingdom. Being intentional means you have determined to make something a priority. What are you intent on? Today, make Jesus a priority and close the door. You’ll be greatly rewarded.
“And when you pray, do not be like the hypocrites, for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and on the street corners to be seen by others. Truly I tell you, they have received their reward in full.” – Matthew 6:5

MERCY WITH NO JUSTICE?
I did not change My mind, I did not grow soft or break My covenant with my people. I Am a faithful God who loves you enough to give My Son to pay the price you could not. He paid for your healing, prosperity, deliverance and your adoption fee. I Am a good Father.
SIMPLE AS THAT
I’ve heard people ask, “Did God change from the Old Testament to the New Testament?” No. Numbers 23 tells us God is not one to lie to His people or change His mind.
“God is not a man, that He should lie, Nor a son of man, that He should repent. Has He said, and will He not do? Or has He spoken, and will He not make it good?” – Numbers 23:19
“But Pastor Troy, why are the Old Covenant and the New Covenant so different because is really seems like God changed.” I’m here to tell you He hasn’t and explain what happened from one side of the cross to the other.
It works like this: in order for God Almighty to give you mercy, He first has to deal with the justice part of it. Under the Old Covenant, any time you went into covenant with someone it was until death. Since God Almighty went into that kind of a covenant with them, that meant that He Himself had to die because that was the deal – until death.
God wanted to fulfill that covenant. Jesus said in Matthew 5:17 He didn’t come to destroy the Old Testament. He came to fulfill it.
What needed to be fulfilled in the Old Testament? It was the “justice” part because you and I could never tap into God’s mercy if there was no justice. We couldn’t pay the price. The justice part said you and I deserve to go to hell – that the wrath of God had to be poured out upon us.
So what happened? Jesus went to the cross and He paid the justice price for you and for me. He fulfilled our end of the contract. Once He took on all of our sin and the Father judged them, He looked at the Old Covenant and said, “It is finished.” He closed the door on it.
That was on Good Friday. On Sunday, Jesus resurrected from the dead with all these tickets that said “judgment is given, justice been paid. Now everybody has access to mercy.”
Yes, Jesus sits upon a mercy seat, but its foundation is judgment and truth. God isn’t bipolar. He is Love and love demands justice and gives mercy – simple as that.
