Name Above All Names

TODAY’S PROPHETIC NUMBER

Hosea 12:5 – That is, the Lord God of hosts. The Lord is His memorable name.

Our God has many names! Each reveals His character and His position. Have you ever wondered what the “Lord God of Hosts” means? It means the Lord is a general of a vast heavenly army of angels. Our God is first in command! The General and His whole army backs you up. He is on your side.

Declaration: I’m not alone. The Lord God of hosts is for me. His army surrounds me. Victory is assured because Jesus and His angels fight for me.

Name Above All Names

As a numbers freak, you know I’m all about researching the year to come. My friend, 2023 is just a few weeks away and The Lord is speaking a great big word on Jesus’ second coming through His first coming.

Check out the 23rd verse of the New Testament:

“Behold, the virgin shall be with child, and bear a Son, and they shall call His name Immanuel,” which is translated, “God with us.” – Matthew 1:23

The Word who spoke the universe into being became flesh. He literally put on skin and became a man just like you and me. John writes it with incredulity: He dwelt among us. Why?

To die.

Can you imagine sending your beloved son, the only son you have, to die a criminals death to free guilty captives from a prison they made for themselves? If the son is selfish and rotten to the core – a poor representation of the family – it would maybe be less painful, but he isn’t. He is goodness itself.

In him are joy, kindness and peace. His love and self-control compel him to give up everything He has “for the joy set before him.” What was the joy? You were.

As we close out this year of 2022, which has been a tough season of chaos, confusion and disorder, know this: God is still with us!

You can celebrate this Christmas knowing that God’s promise of Jesus is sure. He came the first time and redeemed us. He promises to come again and take us to His Father’s house for a wedding feast.

Think about it: God announced the launch of His great big rescue plan in Matthew 1:23 – a “right now” 23 word and a word on ascending, going up, upgrade as in 1-2-3. That rescue plan is still in effect and now you and I are the rescuers!

Who can you tell about Jesus today? Who can you help the King of Kings and Lord of Lords drag from behind enemy lines for the joy set before Him? This is the right time to give the Name Above All Names the gift of a rescued soul.

A Highway for Our God

TODAY’S PROPHETIC NUMBER

Romans 12:4 – For as we have many members in one body, but all the members do not have the same function

God has made you unique and wonderful! He has called you to fulfill His plan for your life – not someone elses. Don’t underestimate your value in His Kingdom. The way you think, do things, and love is powerful. The body needs YOU! Stay in your lane and run the race as the Lord leads you.

Declaration: I see myself through the lens of Jesus. My assignments and callings are certain. I was made for such a time as this.

A Highway for Our God

I love the Gospel account of Jesus’ first coming to earth and especially the prophetic nature of it. In the prophetic, there are layers and timelines. Things that were are again and you can see types and shadows of people, places and happenings.

It’s like that with the account of John the Baptist.

There’s this really strange encounter between the Pharisees, the religious leaders of the day, and John in the wilderness. John has been out there minding his own business, seeking the Lord and proclaiming the coming of a savior. When he starts to draw a crowd, the religious elite get their britches in a bunch.

Jealous and threatened, they confront this wilderness preacher calling people to “repent because the Kingdom of God is at hand.” Hang with me while we unpack this.

Now this is the testimony of John, when the Jews sent priests and Levites from Jerusalem to ask him, “Who are you?”

20 He confessed, and did not deny, but confessed, “I am not the Christ.”

21 And they asked him, “What then? Are you Elijah?”

He said, “I am not.”

“Are you the Prophet?”And he answered, “No.”

22 Then they said to him, “Who are you, that we may give an answer to those who sent us? What do you say about yourself?” – John 1:19-22

Why were the Pharisees grilling John about who he was? Let me tell you my friend, they knew exactly who John was. They wanted to know if John knew who he was.

In Luke 1, we find the daddy of John is a high priest named Zechariah. He is a Levite and what’s more, John’s mama, Elizabeth is also a Levite – the priestly bloodline. As the priesthood is passed down from the fathers to the sons, that would make John, wait for it…the true High Priest of Israel!

You see, at that time in Jewish history, nothing was as it should be. It seemed the world was upside down. Good was considered evil and evil was considered good. The people born for greatness were the most oppressed and neglected. Truth was suppressed and lies were openly accepted. Doesn’t it seem that way today?

Just like in the days of John the Baptist, the world seems to be trying to light itself on fire. We see the headlines and marvel that nothing is as it should be. It seems the sky is falling, but I want you to know today, that just like in John’s day, it’s not. The Kingdom is coming.

You know how I love numbers in scripture and we’re coming up on the year 2023. It is a year marked by choice – life or death, truth or lies, judgment or justice. It’s a valley of decision year for you, like John, to decide who you are, whose you are, and what you believe. Check out John’s answer in this “right now” verse.

He said: “I am ‘The voice of one crying in the wilderness: “Make straight the way of the Lord,” ’as the prophet Isaiah said.” – John 1:23

John knew who he was. He was the true high priest of the nation of Israel. By rights, a comfortable life, honor and power were his. But John knew whose he was and he chose to make the world ready for the coming of the Messiah – the Christ.

Friends, the world we live in is again ripe for the coming of Jesus. The prophecies have been fulfilled and the signs of the times are here. Will you be a “voice crying in the wilderness ‘Make straight a way for the Lord’”?

Celebrate Jesus

TODAY’S PROPHETIC NUMBER

Hebrews 12:3 – For consider Him who endured such hostility from sinners against Himself, lest you become weary and discouraged in your souls.

Here is an antidote to discouragement and weariness: look at King Jesus. He has given up everything for you. He has set you before Himself as His Joy to endure the cross. Now, let Him be your joy in the hard places you are walking. He is worthy!

Declaration: My joy comes from my Jesus, not my circumstances. I will hope in Him alone. I am encouraged by His promises and will prophesy life over myself and others today.

Celebrate Jesus

Culture is always defined by what you decide are the highest values – what you make a big deal out of and what you don’t. It’s very important that you and I steward the culture of our homes, even our hearts and our minds, in a way that looks more like heaven than it looks like hell.

So, what does heaven look like? Celebration. Just read Isaiah 6. The Lord God Almighty is so amazing that wherever He goes, there is celebration and honor because He is so glorious. It should be like that here on earth as well. We should celebrate God, all He is and all He has done for us.

So there is Christmas. I know many of you will say, “But Pastor Troy, we know Jesus was not born on December 25. With all the pagan traditions, the commercialism and consumerism, we should not celebrate a fake holiday.”

While I see your point, I disagree.

When Leanna and I come across the little boys and girls with no home and no name, we put them in our rescue homes. What I find every single time is I have to give them a birthday. They have no idea how old they are, when their birthday is. So, I’ll size them up and I’ll say, “Oh, you look like you’re probably 10 years old, and I bet your special day is going to be March the 24th.”

And I’ll actually present them with a 3/24 scripture and every time there is a great big word from the Lord in it. Then that becomes their celebration day for the rest of their life.

My friends, while we know Jesus was most likely born in the spring and many amazing Messianic Jewish scholars say it was Nissan 1, which has some show-stopping prophetic significance, somewhere along the line of history, mankind chose December 25 to make a big deal out of Jesus.

Think about it. God became a man to live with us, empathize with us, teach us, and save us from sin, death and hell. Jesus is the greatest gift mankind has ever received. That is so worth celebrating!

You don’t have to buy into any of the traditions or consumerism (pun intended). However, you should be joyful and generous. You should celebrate Jesus in this Christmas season not because of a certain day on the calendar, but because heaven celebrates Him. It will celebrate you too when you help the world that doesn’t know Him celebrate Him.

For unto us a Child is born, Unto us a Son is given; And the government will be upon His shoulder. And His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. – Isaiah 9:6

Presents for His Presence: A message on gifts for the King

Pastor Troy Brewer, OpenDoor Church, Burleson, TX

Sunday, Dec. 4, 2022

Meeting with Kings, Prime Ministers and Presidents, World famous CEOs and next-level generals in the body of Jesus.

Luke 7:36-48Then one of the Pharisees asked Him to eat with him. And He went to the Pharisee’s house, and sat down to eat.

37 And behold, a woman in the city who was a sinner, when she knew that Jesus sat at the table in the Pharisee’s house, brought an alabaster flask of fragrant oil,

38 and stood at His feet behind Him weeping; and she began to wash His feet with her tears, and wiped them with the hair of her head; and she kissed His feet and anointed them with the fragrant oil.

39 Now when the Pharisee who had invited Him saw this, he spoke to himself, saying, “This Man, if He were a prophet, would know who and what manner of woman this is who is touching Him, for she is a sinner.”

40 And Jesus answered and said to him, “Simon, I have something to say to you.”

So he said, “Teacher, say it.”

41 “There was a certain creditor who had two debtors. One owed five hundred denarii, and the other fifty. 42 And when they had nothing with which to repay, he freely forgave them both. Tell Me, therefore, which of them will love him more?”

43 Simon answered and said, “I suppose the one whom he forgave more.”

And He said to him, “You have rightly judged.” 44 Then He turned to the woman and said to Simon, “Do you see this woman? I entered your house; you gave Me no water for My feet, but she has washed My feet with her tears and wiped them with the hair of her head.

45 You gave Me no kiss, but this woman has not ceased to kiss My feet since the time I came in. 46 You did not anoint My head with oil, but this woman has anointed My feet with fragrant oil. 47 Therefore I say to you, her sins, which are many, are forgiven, for she loved much. But to whom little is forgiven, the same loves little.”

48 Then He said to her, “Your sins are forgiven.”

Simon the Leper ? Simon the Pharisee

Her sins were forgiven.

He was not healed.

In Kingdom protocol, titles and gifts mean qualification for partnering with the King’s business at a high level.

When you come into the presence of the King, sarcasm and ill reverence goes out the door.

Kings, Prime ministers, presidents.

If the King comes to meet you, that’s one thing. If you go to meet the King, it’s another thing.

If you go to the King invited that’s one thing. If you go to the King uninvited that’s another.

WHEN YOU ARE INVITING THE KING TO SHOW UP IN YOUR LIFE OR YOUR CIRCUMSTANCES, YOU HAVE TO KNOW HOW TO TREAT HIM OR YOU ARE DISQUALIFIED FOR YOUR MIRACLE.

Simon the Leper, or Simon the Pharisee, is such a great example.

Protocol: the official procedure or system of rules governing affairs of state or diplomatic occasions.

“protocol forbids the prince from making any public statement in his defense”

WHEN ESTHER BARGED INTO THE THRONE ROOM OF KING XERXES, SHE DID SO KNOWING  SHE WOULD PROBABLY DIE A HORRIBLE DEATH, BUT THERE WAS A TINY CHANCE HER FAVOR WITH THE KING COULD HELP HER SAVE GOD’S PEOPLE.

Esther 7:10 (NKJV)“So they hanged Haman on the gallows that he had prepared for Mordecai.”

However consider the NIV’s take on the text:

Esther 7:10 (NIV)“So they impaled Haman on the pole he had set up for Mordecai.”

Hebrew word “xulon” is the most often translated in the Bible as “tree,” “piece of wood,” or “pole.” The only examples of the word being translated as “gallows” appear in the Book of Esther and only in translations which have that image predetermined in the mind of the translators.

HANGED (KJV) / IMPALED (NIV)

The Hebrew word תָּלָה talah is used here and is the source of complexity in interpreting the image of death. The word translates most often in the Bible to mean “suspend” or “hang.”

The point, pardon the pun, is that you don’t break protocol.

Deuteronomy 16:16“Three times a year all your males shall appear before the LORD your God in the place which He chooses: at the Feast of Unleavened Bread, at the Feast of Weeks, and at the Feast of Tabernacles; and they shall not appear before the LORD empty-handed.”

….but they must not appear before the LORD without a gift for him.

Proverbs 18:16A man’s gift makes room for him, and brings him before great men.

GOLD

FRANKINCENSE

MYRRH

We have rescued more than 10,000 boys and girls out of sexual slavery

GOLD “Muchness”

The divine nature of God: The fear of the Lord

1. Monetary standard; money; currency – our gold makes good our currency

2. Honor the Lord your God with all your might–muchness–all your material possessions.

3. Jesus says, “Give me authority over all your wealth
over all your possessions.”

Frankincense: Worship / Prayer / Thanksgiving

1. Extraordinarily expensive. At today’s prices, frankincense was worth $500 per pound.

2. Comes from a tree that is tapped and drained.

3. Comes from southern Arabia. Queen of Sheba brought gold and frankincense to Solomon. It is very rare.

4. Frankincense was the key ingredient in the incense for temple offerings.

5. Exodus 30:34-35 formula for incense mixture.

6. Every morning and evening Aaron burned Frankincense before the Lord–before the holy of holies.

There was a whole room in the temple of Jerusalem where the Frankincense was stored. It was considered Holy.
It was only used in service to the Lord.

7. Not used as perfume. It was forbidden to be used in common ways.

8. In all the offerings–not the sin offerings–but the fellowship offerings–the thanksgiving offerings.
Love the Lord with all your Heart!! Worship of the heart!!

Revelation 5:8 – And when he had taken the scroll, the four living creatures and the twenty-four elders fell down before the Lamb, each holding a harp, and golden bowls full of incense, which are the prayers of the saints. And they sang a new song, saying, “Worthy are you to take the scroll and to open its seals, for you were slain, and by your blood you ransomed people for God from every tribe and language and people and nation, and you have made them a kingdom and priests to our God, and they shall reign on the earth.”

The prayers of the saints.

Your prayers and thanksgiving are your Frankincense.

Psalm 141:2 (prayer and praise as incense)Let my prayer be counted as incense before you, and the lifting up of my hands as the evening sacrifice!

Great care and skill with the incense – great Worship

Matthew 4:8 – Again, the devil took him to a very high mountain and showed him all the kingdoms of the world and their glory. And he said to him, “All these I will give you, if you will fall down and worship me.” Then Jesus said to him, “Be gone, Satan! For it is written, “‘You shall worship the Lord your God and him only shall you serve.’”

When Jesus was tempted, Jesus said you must worship the Lord alone.

Myrrh

1. A very rare spice also comes from a tree.

2. The most important perfume and spice of Biblical times.

3. Also mixed with olive oil for the anointing of Kings. It could be turned into a powder and worn by women as a perfume.

4. but also used as a pain killer. Jesus was offered a drink spiced
with myrrh – hanging on a cross.

5. This gift that the wisemen brought him was prophetic of his coming death.

6. John 19:39, Myrrh was used in the spices that the women prepare to anoint his body with for burial. It speaks of his death and burial.

It was costly–more than gold. At today’s prices, a pound of myrrh would cost $4,000.

7. It was an alabaster jar full of myrrh that a devoted woman came and broke and anointed Jesus feet with it – so costly that it was equivalent to half a year to a year’s wages.

Myrrh is the fragrance that rises from the believer who is living in the life of the resurrected Christ.

MYRRH – THE DEATH OF JESUS CHRIST

Myrrh 16 times in the Bible7 of those times in Song of Solomon

Mark 15:23Then they gave Him wine mingled with myrrh to drink, but He did not take it.

Why did Jesus refuse? He had already drunk his covenant cup of wine with his disciples at the last supper proclaiming himself to be the bridegroom. He promised he would not drink of it again until he drank the second cup of covenant with them (and us) at the Marriage Supper of the Lamb.

Season of Covenant

TODAY’S PROPHETIC NUMBER

Romans 12:2 – And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.

Redemption is a big deal to King Jesus! He is in the business of redeeming the stories of His people. You have a part to play by believing the truth of His word and His promises by standing up for what is good and holy. Your life is a redemption story being played out every day as you point people to Jesus. You are doing the very will of God.

Declaration: I pull down strongholds and cast down evil imaginations. I’m redeemed and restored. I have the mind of Christ.

Season of Covenant

Do you know why most people won’t get out of bed on Sunday morning? Just like you and me, they enjoy their down time. The difference is, you cannot convince them their life is not their own.

It isn’t that they don’t want to be fed the Word of God, or even that they don’t want to worship the Lord. They likely do. It’s just very, very difficult to get an American to believe they are not in total ownership of their own lives. They lack character because they lack covenant.

A covenant mentality says “my job is to glorify God no matter what.” A covenant mentality says, “My life is not my own, but God’s.”

Or do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own? For you were bought at a price; therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s. – 1 Corinthians 6:19-20

Lack of a covenant mentality causes Christians to warm a pew on Sunday, then cheat someone out of money on Tuesday. It causes them to enjoy Bible study on Wednesday morning, then spend the afternoon in the gossip cauldron. Why? They don’t believe their business practices, words, or their life in general actually belong to God.

Here’s the kicker about covenant: covenant is the only thing that causes God to respond to you! God doesn’t respond to your need, your riches, pain or poverty. He only responds because He created you – He owns you – and He purchased you back after you willingly became slave to a cruel master, the devil.

Do you lack Christian character? If you do, you likely lack a covenant mentality. However, this is a season for this to change! Change your thinking and get all in! Once your thinking changes, your actions will begin to change and you will see a covenant with Jesus is what you needed all along.

Focus on this: Your only job on this earth is to glorify God no matter what because I belong to Jesus!

Whether you eat, or drink, or whatever you do, do everything for the glory of God.
– 1 Corinthians 10:31

Chief Architect of the Season

TODAY’S PROPHETIC NUMBER

Genesis 12:1 – Now the Lord had said to Abram: “Get out of your country, From your family And from your father’s house, To a land that I will show you.”

Throughout the centuries, God called people of faith to move toward things not yet defined. It’s not easy to let go of the known, but it’s necessary for upgrade. All of Heaven is ready to applaud your courage and obedience. So, let God lead you into new places. Don’t wait until you have it all figured out. Take that step!

Declaration: I’m ready for upgrade. I will not hold onto the past. I’m ready to take new territories for King Jesus.

Chief Architect of the Season

Like I said yesterday, as the Pastor of OpenDoor Church, I think the most important job I have is to be the architect of the culture of the house. That means I make sure the way we do things and relate to each other looks more like heaven than hell. I decide what we celebrate and what we don’t.

This, my friends is the reverential fear of the Lord. When I say that the fear of the Lord is to love what God loves and hate what He hates, I’m not making that up. That’s from the word of the Lord.

The fear of the Lord is to hate evil; Pride and arrogance and the evil way And the perverse mouth I hate. – Proverbs 8:13

If you’re going to have victory in your life, that fear and reverence needs to be present in your words and actions – especially this time of year. My friends, it’s December 1 and the Christmas season is in full swing.

Now, I’m not talking about the shopping, presents and parties, although maybe I am. You see when you love what God loves and you hate what He hates, you don’t get caught up in things that are not Him. You don’t miss the “reason for the season.”

Don’t get me wrong. We do Christmas parties, give presents and have a tree. I will not get into the Santa debate because, frankly, each of us has to be accountable for what we celebrate and why – even outside of holidays such as Christmas, Easter and Halloween. This is not what I’m talking about today.

Today, I’m saying that it’s the Christmas season and the world’s eyes are on us – those who profess to follow and love Jesus. How are we going to act? What words and attitudes are coming from you? Are you joyful or annoyed? Are you generous or focused on self?

Ask yourself today what you are going to make a big deal out of in the next 25 days (and beyond) because it matters! It matters greatly to a world that is losing hope. It is life and death to those whose hearts are hardening due to the lawlessness we read every day in the headlines.

And because lawlessness will abound, the love of many will grow cold. – Matthew 24:12

My friends, the mystery of lawlessness that 2 Thessalonians 2:7 speaks of is ramping up. This is a right now word going into 2023.

Even so you also outwardly appear righteous to men, but inside you are full of hypocrisy and lawlessness. – Matthew 23: 28

The word says “the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom.” In this day and this hour of great chaos, you need to fear the Lord. If your words and attitudes are toxic, it doesn’t matter how much you know about the Bible, what church sticker you have on your car, or if you have a nativity in your yard instead of a Santa.

Love what Jesus loves and hate what He hates. Jesus loves people. He hates lawlessness. Do you?

Breaking the Spirit of Chaos

TODAY’S PROPHETIC NUMBER

Hebrews 11:30 – By faith the walls of Jericho fell down after they were encircled for seven days.

You have seen many walls crumble. With every victory, God is bringing you to a new walled city to conquer in your thinking. He trusts you. That comes with upgrade. God has bigger and better things for you. Keep marching and let those trumpets blow.

Declaration: Overcoming victory is mine. God is backing me up. I will slay giants and take walled cities for Jesus.

Breaking the Spirit of Chaos

As the Pastor of OpenDoor Church, I don’t think my most important job is to be the best preacher around. I think the most important job I have is to be the architect of the culture of the house. To make sure the way we do things and relate to each other looks more like heaven than hell.

This is not something we always accomplish, but it is something we always go after. The culture of the house is simply this: what we make a big deal out of, or what we don’t.

We make a big deal out of serving the poor even if they will never come to our church. We make a big deal out of healing, hearing the voice of God and prophetic things. Relationships and kindness are also big deals to us here at OpenDoor.

If our culture is toxic, it doesn’t matter how much I know about the Bible, how good a preacher I am, or that I give a salvation call every Sunday.

I don’t believe God moves through a church service. I think God moves through the relationships of the people within the church service. Because of this, we can’t give the atmosphere to the enemy, and know this: he desperately wants it – not only in church, but in your home, your job and every part of your life as a believer.

in which you once walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit who now works in the sons of disobedience… – Ephesians 2:2

Satan is called the prince of the power of the air for a reason: He wants to control the atmosphere with anger, discord, disobedience and lies so he can raise up a mob to crush you.

That’s why Jesus is called the “Prince of Peace.” Peace is literally “the authority that breaks the spirit of chaos” and chaos is what the devil is all about! If you want the Prince of Peace to show up in the midst of your mess, do this:

Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy—meditate on these things. The things which you learned and received and heard and saw in me, these do, and the God of peace will be with you. – Philippians 4:8-9

If you want to change the atmosphere, change your thinking. Think on Godly things and be the architect of your house, your office, car, marriage, friendships – your everything!

Take Out the Trash

TODAY’S PROPHETIC NUMBER

Matthew 11:29 – Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.

Jesus did the hardest part. He gave everything up for you. It was His love for you that held Him to the cross. Whatever He is asking you to give, it’s not too much because it already belongs to Him. As you let go of that thing that is so important to you, you will find rest and peace.

Declaration: I give to you Lord everything I have. Everything I am is yours.

Take Out the Trash

If you want Jesus Christ to show up in a miraculous way this year; if you want Him to show up in your head, in your finances, in your stability, in your home, in your relationships–if you want God Almighty to show up and go, “Boom! I Am here and it’s all about Me,” you have to prepare a place for Him. If you don’t He won’t show up.

“But Pastor Troy, I invited Him. How come He won’t show up?” Because if He shows up and you’re not prepared, He has to judge you. Let me tell you from my own experience, it is literally the mercy of the Lord that He doesn’t show up as much as He wants to. The Jewish people found this out the hard way.

“O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, the one who kills the prophets and stones those who are sent to her! How often I wanted to gather our children together, as a hen gathers her boor under her wings, but you were not willing.” – Luke 13:34

Jesus Christ showed up to Jerusalem and wept and said, “Oh, how I’ve wanted to do this and that in your lives, but you killed the people sent to get you ready so you missed your day of visitation.” They not only missed their long-awaited Messiah, they lost their nation for 2,000 painful years.

My friend, that’s not you! You are going to be prepared. You are going to determine right now who you are—that’s your identity—and whose you are—that’s your destiny. What happens between now and your first breath of heaven’s air is called your “purpose,” and only those who prepare find that and live it out.

What places in your life do you need to prepare for the Lord’s purpose because you don’t want to face His judgment? Your finances, family or friends? What about your job, your ministry or your habits, hurts and hangups? Identify the places you need the Holy Spirit to clean up and get out of the way! He’ll take out the trash.

Oil in Your Lamp?

TODAY’S PROPHETIC NUMBER

Proverbs 11:28 – He who trust in his riches will fall. But the righteous will flourish like foliage.

Do you know you can prosper in the middle of a failing economy? While Egypt was experiencing the plaques, Israel was experiencing light and abundance in the land of Goshen. Come out of agreement with the spirit of lack. God is opening the heavens to send blessings to His kids.

Declaration: My provision is certain. My God is a God of abundance. He blesses the work of my hands.

Oil in Your Lamp?

If you want Jesus to show up within your life, you have to prepare. Why? Because God has a great big value for maturity and readiness. Jeremiah 29:11 says He’s a planner and He expects the same from you. The Lord Jesus will only show up to a people who are prepared for Him.

As-a-matter-of-fact, at His return, He shows up and a lot of His own people are not prepared. They’re locked outside the rapture of the Church and the Marriage Supper of the Lamb. They yell, “Let us in! We’re your virgin brides and we are here!” Yeah, but you weren’t prepared and you were told to be ready.

Jesus said the Kingdom of heaven is like ten virgins who took their lamps to meet the bride groom. Why did He tell this story? Because He was painting a prophetic picture of the rapture of His bride through the parallel of the Galilean wedding feast, and it’s amazing. However, it’s not a pretty picture for half of those with an invitation.

“Now five of them were wise and five were foolish. Those who were fooling took their lamps, but took no oil with them, but the wise took oil in their vessels and with their lamps. – Matthew 25:2-4

The oil represents the Holy Spirit in their lives and the lamp is the light of their testimony to others. While all 10 were “good girls” or Christians, only five were prepared in their hearts and minds for the long wait. The others fell out. They lost focus and they lost their chance at the biggest event in the history of mankind. They missed their own wedding to Jesus.

Don’t let that be you. Accept your invitation and fill your heart with the oil of the Holy Spirit. He will keep your lamp burning as you witness to a lost and dying world until your Bridegroom arrives.

Sign Up for Ugly?

Today’s Prophetic Number

Judges 11:27 – Therefore I have not sinned against you, but you wronged me by fighting against me. May the Lord, the Judge, render judgment this day between the children of Israel and the people of Ammon.

Father God, thank you that your judgment is mercy on us. Because of His mercy, we can extend mercy to those who have wronged us. God’s judgment is that we prosper in all things and our families will be saved. God invites us to pray for the same thing for our enemies.

Declaration: The favor of the Lord is upon me and I’m growing in stature and wisdom. I chose to walk in mercy and grace. I will not hold grudges.

Sign Up For Ugly?

Let’s get off into the Kingdom importance of being prepared. Benjamin Franklin says, “By failing to prepare, you are preparing to fail.” I don’t know about you, but I’m not prepared to fail this year.

On the other hand, I’m not prepared to be flawless and God Almighty doesn’t expect me to be. There’s a part of my life that’s picking up momentum. I’m going to move forward and a lot of it is a bonafide train wreck.

“Pastor Troy, what are you talking about?”

I’m talking about when you’re out there swinging for the bleachers trying to make things happen. When you don’t have a playbook and don’t know how to do this or that, but you’re stepping up and saying, “I’m going to give this my best shot and see what I can accomplish.” My friend, it’s gonna be ugly.

Did you sign up for ugly? You did and you shouldn’t be afraid to sign up for ugly. Victory is not going to be pristine. It’s going to be beautiful, it really and truly is, but it’s going to be in the midst of a mess.

Don’t you want the Lord in the midst of the mess of your humanity? Because He’s not afraid to bless your mess at all. He’s not afraid of your humanity.

“For God so loved the world He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever would believe in Him would not perish but have everlasting life.” – John 3:16

God loves you too much to leave you the way you are. He will sort out your ugly, but only if you invite Him into it. Remember, your heart is His home. Give Him the mop and the broom and let Him take care of the rest.

I DECLARE IN JESUS’ NAME…

I am signing up for ugly! I am going after Kingdom advancement and know it’s going to be messy.

My heart is your home. I give you permission to clean up my mess in the ________ area of my life.

My life and my ministry are Yours. Upgrade and advancement are mine and my life will glorify You, Lord.
